Sometimes I forget that Tommy is just a character, great actor
So true. Very real guy/actor.
England I know, just worshiped him in Peaky Blinders, spell binding.
I wish he wasn’t just a character I want him as tommy with the hair,hat,suits and especially the accent
Cillian Murphy has said that when he is Tommy he IS Tommy. He becomes him to the point that when he goes home he just learns his lines & goes to bed cos he is not sociable as Tommy.

Cillian Murphy looks like he just wants to go home, yet he’s not recognized as the brilliant actor he truly is. The Hollywood style isn’t appealing to him which makes him even more respectable because he’s a straight personality and his passion for acting can be seen in his roles.
he's completely underrated. He is relatively laid back compared to most interviews you see him in.
He's like Christian Bale in that way. Hating Paparazzi and press and interviews. Maybe it's a more method, British thing.

The glazed over look with the Boardwalk Empire reference was incredible that was a really good show too I thought but neither of them seem to want any comparison.

Cillian’s English is SO CLEAR and understandable, even to me.
He should keep the tommy hair cut for sure!

Peaky Blinders my most favourite show of all time, on any size screen. Richly developed, action packed, character driven, visually beautiful and written exquisitely. Cillian is a powerful actor. Stunning, sharp and addictive. Nothing compares.

If Oscars didn't recognise Cillian now then Oscar is no worthy appreciating a true fantastic. Actor of the generation he is extraordinary his eyes act and deliver emotion nor dialogue just loving all his movie❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
My husband and I started watching Peaky Blinders and the first thing I said during the first episode was "what an absolutely brilliant mind wrote this"! Then the music! Now a huge fan of Nick Cave, Joy Division and so many others.
Made it a mission to see as many works as possible that cast members have been involved with and have not been disappointed! We are anxiously waiting for season six!
Oh my god you and me both. I too discovered Nick Cave and Joy Division through this series and I'm such a fan of their music now. And now I'm on a Cillian Murphy spree again because I re-watched the series while yearning for S6.

One of THE BEST tv series ive ever watched, so excited for season 6. Amazing cast, incredible acting, brilliant writing, Steve Knight thank you so much, youre without a doubt an incredible story teller 😊❤❤
At the end, Steven Knight says "I'd love to take Tommy to the start of the 2nd World War." He pretty much got his wish, didn't he? I loved this program. Now that the last season is over, I'm going to start watching it from the beginning again. It's the 3rd best series I have ever watched - - after Breaking Bad and The Sopranos.

Clearly Cillian is a highly intelligent chap, and is a superb actor, who should go far. One of 'our' best. The Brummy accent is not that authentic, but what he does he does it brilliantly.

My grandpa, although from Scotland, and living in Leeds after the war, knew some of the Peaky Blinders, and their influence
infiltrated into other cities, such as Leeds.
The flat caps would have metal buckles sewn into them
He was involved with bare knuckle fighting arranged in the pubs around Leeds
As a young girl he would tell me stories when I went with him to the back street bookies in Kirkstall, Leeds
Giving a nod to the local ' bobby' going into the police station that used to be on the corner of the main road going through Kirkstall.
I'm 73, but I can see it all so clearly, the trams, the horse drawn cart of the ' rag a bone' man, the men standing outside the Star and Garter pub, the smell of the huge Clydesdale horses pulling the beer wagon.

I was surprised at first with Steven Knight's reaction to the question about Boardwalk Empire(B.E.), it was a wonderful opportunity to promote how unique a perspective his own show really has to that particular time period's genre. He did say that he purposely doesn't watch B.E. because he feels like it might end up influencing his work. I'm hoping that once he is done with the Peaky Blinders series, he might watch an episode of B.E. and realize that his show holds up much more both in entertainment value and complexity of story, all within a 6 episode first season.
I liked B.E. for the first few seasons, but it seemed to eventually be limited and almost stagnated by the stereotypical 'American 1920's' that Hollywood seems to heavily adhere to.
However, Peaky Blinders and its intriguing focus on a particular ethnic/cultural niche of the working class people of the industrial Birmingham society (post WWI) creates a new interest in that place, time, and perspective in history.

I recently read an interview where he said he doesn't watch much tv or movies because he doesn't want to be influenced by others. Shame but I can understand where he's coming from.
Watched BE after Peaky Blinders and I must agree that after the first few episodes, BE became trashy. Friends who have also watched Peaky Blinders agree that the show is of quality that that has not been seen for years coming out of the US. Great writing by Steven Knight, work by the entire production crew and especially the cast!
I thought Boardwalk was a really beautifully shot show also. I liked Deadwood as well though the setting was more lewd but the language and writing excellent disappointed there was only about 3 seasons of it.
