Man, Fallout NV is a game I always comeback to every year like a tradition.
The first time playing Blood Money I wanted to go out so badly I ran through the entire DLC in one sitting, skipping dialogue left and right I hated it. But played it again a few years later in hardcore mode and it became my favourite DLC for its story telling and how it changes the game to a survival horror casino heist.

Funny you said that because every summer I do a play through of Fallout NV as well as the old Hitman games including Blood Money.
Hinest Hearts DLC was my favorite as a kid because it felt different and didn't look like a wasteland. Now its probably my least favorite of the 4 because the other 3 have such fun stories compared to it imo. Dead Money is probably my favorite and the ghost people are cool enemies.

Charisma increases the damage your companions inflict by quite a bit, it also makes them tankier. You can play as a character that sucks at combat but is good at everything else while your companions wreck every enemy effortlessly. It's a pretty fun way of playing!

    • @anomanomom239

The king stat of the game is funnily enough luck. Lategame enemies in the DLCs are balanced around the idea that you are gonna have above 50% crit chance with your weapons of choice. Not to mention ability to rig casinos for caps.

I know this doesn't help now, but there's a special terminal at The Gun Runners that allows you to "dismiss all companions". It was put in the game to address this exact bug or if you simply tell a companion to wait somewhere and later forget where you left them. It well send all companions that aren't at the Lucky 38 back to their default location. So Raul will be sent back to Raul's Shack east of New Vegas and South of Nellis Airforce Base.

Regarding the Think Tank of Big MT.:
When you think about it, they are WAY more dangerous than the Institute from Fallout 4, despite having a similar premise, sure they are goofy as fuck, but when you skim through the tech they actually had, the monsters and weapons they created and their immediate response to being freed being to use the Mojave as a massive testing site for all this shit.
All the Institute REALLY has are Synths, which sure, can be scary and are very impressive, but given that they cant even reliably control those Synths, which are no more dangerous than a regular Human if they arent utilized correctly.
The Think Tank is played for laughs and are fucking scary, the institute is apparently the Boogeyman of the Commonwealth and under all the kidnapping and replacing they dont do shit with it

Charisma doesn't give the player as much return as say Strength or Agility or Intelligence. And yes, you can just pump points into speech. What Charisma does do is boost your companion's damage with 'Nerve'. If you are running with a companion and have given them better arms & armor than they started with then the Nerve bonus can have them deal decent damage as they support you in combat. It still doesn't make Charisma a desirable stat to invest in but it does do 'something'.

The whole point of Dead Money is to be more of a survival horror experience, they intended all of the DLC to be variations on the Fallout experience that forced you to utilize different skills more heavily than the base game. DM is supposed to be a more linear survival experience where you are limited on equipment and so on.

@@AveSicarius As i understood from interviews they were annoyed that people were playing FNV in one way while they have implemented a lot of alternatives, so they decided to make people to play differently (like headshots - well they would not work anymore; have your favourite rifle with addons - here is a cosmic knife you need to poke people with).
But this creates a structural issue, people who liked the main gameplay would be annoyed with being made to do things they do not like, people who played the main game in different way would not notice these changes.

I do understand that, but I personally respect the decision to do something different and focus on the "survival" side of Fallout New Vegas (which we really should have expected given the survival mode brought into the game).
I completely understand why some people do not like the gameplay though, especially because you are usually getting into the swing of things by the point you start DM, and have likely just found your mid-game preferred weapons. Honestly I would like it purely because it slows progress down and makes me appreciate my overpowered weapons even more when I finish the DLC (also the holorifle is pretty sweet).

Just a piece of constructive criticism from a new fan. Genuinely love your content by the way! Keep up the great work.
I feel like this video could've really benefited from you going more in depth about why you liked the things you did about this game.
The whole review felt very general and by the numbers, like you were going through a checklist (story, gameplay, mechanics) and either giving a thumbs up or thumbs down on each aspect.
And I get that's what a review is lol. Maybe that's what you were going for!
But when your "gimmick", for lack of a better term, is that you're 100%ing these games, I wanna hear more, specific, cool shit about them.
Basically, I don't think this review would've been any different if you had done a single, 30 hour playthrough rather than 100%ing the game.
Maybe that's a little extreme, but that's the gist of how I felt coming out.
To give you an example of something I was looking forward to hearing more about: the legion.
I've never done a legion playthrough, most people never have, so as someone who's 100% the game I feel like you were in a unique position to give us a more fleshed out opinion on the legion side of things; what you actuslly say about them in the video however is pretty surface level stuff that anybody could pick up in any kind of playthrough.
Criticism aside just want to reiterate I still found your review entertaining and I genuinely am really loving your vids! Especially your wrath of the righteous stuff, and encased! Definitely gonma check that game out soon.
    Keep up the great work!

It is good, but it isn't what people expected. The gunplay is fun and built quite a bit on the FO3/NV/4 combat while making it much more interactive (in that enemies can still shoot you during VATS-equivalent and react to location of injury like in FO1). Strat-edgy has a good run down on the pros and cons, but the game is objectively good, if a little underwhelming.

@@jt2749 It's okay. But I do feel Obsidian has fallen from grace a little bit. I don't think a game as good as Fallout 2 or New Vegas can ever be made again. Too many developers are too scared to put questionable stuff in their games. I'm currently replaying Fallout2 and the amount of stuff in that game you could never have now days is astonishing. I think in our woke video game environment, you'll never have great games like that again.
Also certain key writers leaving Obsidian has hurt them a lot. I like Josh Sawyer, he's a great systems designer, but I don't care for his writing that much. Too serious. Pillars of Eternity games also suffer the same problems (though I feel the combat systems are pretty good). I miss the humor of Black Isle and early Obsidian games.

You mention two bullets in the head?
Pretty sure he only shot you once? Wheres this 2nd bullet coming from?
Also for Dead Money, I kind of agree, but I don't think giving you all your equipment would be a good fix. You would just annihilate the place. Its supposed to make you feel helpless, and that you have to make due with what you have available. If I could roll up on it with power armor and automatic grenade launchers I don't think it would even put up a fight on the hardest difficulty. So then what? Increase the enemies? That won't make it better.
I think the main issue with Dead Money is that its so samey, especially early on when its just the same looking streets and its fairly easy to get lost. I think it becomes better once you reach the Sierra Madre. I do like the story quite a bit though. The "ending" of it is something I never skip. And the whole "The hard part isn't finding it, its letting go" is a pretty strong message to end on.
Nitpicking aside (I like nitpicking, ok?), great video. Enjoyed your view and agreed with most of it. 100%'ed the game with all achievements on both Xbox 360 and PC, along with probably a few thousand more hours just screwing around after that.

I see the whole endeavor of "checking" your achievements as proof to be redundant; technically anyone can change a few .ini files or something else and get the achievements. The real value is in the insight you gain from having done a "completionist" playthrough, or at least to you( I assume?), the satisfaction of having done it. Having to constantly prove it to doubters is meaningless.
Also, interesting fact. In my country (India) Fallout NV and 3 were never released on steam, nor distributed physically(but not banned). My guess is the cow-like creatures called Brahmin (which stands for something like a Hindu priest) made the publishers reluctant to release it here. Smart from them but unfortunate for a lot of people here (mostly young people) that don't really give a fuck how religion is depicted in media.

I recently replayed this game, for the first time with the DLC, and I have to say I was really disappointed in them. They are always so celebrated, but Honest Hearts is pointless aside from Joshua Graham, who is one of the best-written characters I've ever seen, Dead Money is more of a pain in the ass than anything, Old World Blues is ridiculously dumb and doesn't really fit the tone of the rest of the game, and Lonesome Road is... practically a Bioshock game masquerading as a Fallout expansion? I especially dislike the backstory it gives the courier, I don't want to hear how I helped create and accidentally destroyed some place I've never even heard of... And all the DLC really muck up the pacing of the main game. I think the base game is strong enough on its own, and while the DLC add some backstory to the Legion and give more insight into the Brotherhood of Steel chapter in the Mojave, they mainly feel like pointless padding.

I know I'm the minority (or maybe the only one:) but I just couldn't get into this game. I finished and enjoyed Fallout 1, 2, 3, 4 and even 76 (let the stones fly) but I just bounced off this. I tried. Made it a pretty decent way through, but just wasn't having a good time. The writing, choices, characters, and dialogue are all better than Bethesda's outings, but my favorite part is exploring the world, experiencing the environmental storytelling (discovering and figuring out the mysteries of the twisted things they were up to before the bombs fell), building my character, and the mash up of 40s-50s with advanced tech. These were all lacking for me. Perhaps one day I'll give it another go.
