- yup. a preview of a upcoming wash race. but had to put this clip in a separate video. this spin is so unbalanced that the machine literally jumps back 6 inches on its first burst.
It certainly proves the durability of older machines, with yet more simpler parts than that of today's machines. Got to say even my Casatta is the same, only once has a spin been so unbalanced that she's actually moved, other than that the machine has never jumped. And even though my 9530 can be a very violent machine, one occasion, a spin was so violent the machine jumped and detached the wooden panel that holds up our worktop from its place, but then the next burst after that was smooth as anything.

me too, it dose skip the next spin for being too unbalanced though.
Oh I didn’t even know that I have a wm63 and it must have a different timer because if it’s really unbalanced it stops and rebalances only does it on final spin

Nice. Gotta love the oldies with no balance sensors - no faffing about trying to balance the load, just straight into spin, balanced or not. They used to terrify me when I was young in the 70s and very early 80s, if I was near my parents machine and it was in distribution, when it lurched into a violent unbalanced spin, and the drum looked like it was gonna bust out of the front of the machine. That was on an old Hoover electronic 1100, and final spin was crazy sometimes so I didnt want to walk past the machine if it was about to do final spin.
These days, its a lot more calm and collected, with balance sensors deciding whether to ramp up the spin speed, and slow accelleration into spin from distribution. That old Hotpoint just reminded me so much of our old Hoover 1100. Sounds like the drum bearings are a fair bit worn though, but this is not surprising for such an old machine, and I'm sure you might replace them?

Tbf these were very strong machines that actually were made to last. Modern washers with balancing sensors like the older hottie would not last at all
just imagine an old hotpoint 95 series machine with all of today's sensors and safety features the things would outlive us

My Hotpoint WDD750 (6 years old) has recently started doing this too. It’s in a small cupboard and starts banging against the door as if it wants to come out. Scares the bejeezus out of me. I’m thinking it’s either the shocks are worn or bearings. Is it worth repairing or just replacing?
If its the bottom shock dampers. Quiet easy and cheap to replace.

True but the balance sensor on modern machines gives essential protection helping the machine to have a longer life

God, I miss the vivacity of the old Hotpoints. Yes, it's great that the new machines are so energy efficient and water efficient and so quiet and all, but they're so damn BORING in comparison.

what machine have i got, one of the new hotpoint silent quiet inverter motor. I use mixed wash 3 40 degrees 1 persil pod 1 calgon tab and half a cap of calgon bacteria liquid wash to keep the machine sweet, and no un even balanced spins as the sensor is good. I always dry my boot out after, to prevent smelly stinks dry out the dispenser wipe the door leave the door ajar and leave the dispenser slightly open to air out, to stop smells.

It dose but it only cuts out the unbalanced load in very extreme cases. Could hear the motor unbalanced, it should have cut out really.

your instinict should have kicked in and stopped it, you may have done some internal damage to the machine. If the drum wobbles that much on an pre inter spin for goodness sake stop the darn thing take out the load shake it out and return it and restart.
