How to Use The Good Ideas Twin Tub Washing Machine Streetwize Accessories Portawash Plus

  • This model is also known as the Streetwize Accessories Portawash Plus.
In this video I demonstrate how to use the Good Ideas portable twin tub washing machine from filling, washing, rinsing and finally spinning the wash load.
The first part of the demonstration shows how to fill the wash tub with water, adding the detergent and then agitating the detergent into the water before adding the clothes.
The machine is designed to wash 3.5kg of laundry and spin dry 2kg of washing. In practice I found that 3.5kg is too much laundry for an effective wash, so I wash about half that amount in this demo. After turning the wash agitator on, I add some clothes and then select the wash time and wash action. I also explain what each of the controls on the top of the washing machine does.
When the washing part of the demo is completed, I transfer half the load into the spinner for the first spin to remove the soapy water. After the first spin, I show how you rinse the laundry and give advice on when to add fabric softener if desired.
The last part of the video shows the final spin, how to drain the wash tub when you've finished and I give some advice of how to clean the machine prior to putting it away.
If you want to see a longer demonstration of this compact twin tub, click on the link below.

A tip from my mom who used to use one of these when we lived in France for a couple of years. If you intend to reuse water, wash least soiled and lighter color clothes first, then more soiled and darker but take care not to use powder detergent and try to rinse well because powder is more likely to leave residue and it’ll be more noticeable on darker clothes.

Also, i reuse the water cause it saves money. I only reuse it if i know the clothes arent that soiled. Plus, I would rather save water as much as I can instead of wasting it.

I live in an apartment and we have one laundry room and everybody washes there and people put bleach and bunch of stuff in it. So I got a manual small washing machine to wash my newborns clothes and towels with a gentle detergent. This reminds me of the old-fashioned 'twin-tub' washers of the 60's-70's; amazing washers, and so economical. I think this little 'portable' washer would be great for small homes and for older people who live alone and don't require a 'family size' washer - I bet they are much more economical than the normal 'washer/dryer' combo!

The feature was valued by people whos previous system was a wringer washer where cloths were washed a load at a time and wrung into the rinse tub until the wash water was judged to be spent. Those people couldn't bare the idea of using wash water only once. Lol. Things have changed.

Awesome!! Just in case you would like to be inform.Rotary damper is small component that allow the closure of washer's cap gradual and does not whip.Soft-close mechanism makes it family safe, avoids slamming and allows for hands-free operation. Good helper on home appliance!

I need one of these portable washing machines. To use on a temporary basis or as a backup. My full size washing machine broke down but my full size dryer still works. I need a quick fix. The nearest laundromat from my house is about 20 minutes away. I work late hours a lot and I hate going to that laundromat when it’s late and I’m tired. I want to limit my times that I have to go to that place. I’d rather go 2 times a month than go 4 times a month. This portable machine will be perfect for me until I’m able to get another full size washing machine.

Her washers before that was by hand and rub board or an old wringer type washer out in the yard. Lucky days she had a little change to hit the washerteria. No clue if I spelled that right! Later she managed to get regular washer and dryer. Later years after I married and my husband got a good job I bought her new washer. Whatever she wanted and I had money I bought her.
