    I met you at an Arizona quilt show 3 years ago and bought your book and sashing tools. I’ve been so busy working I was never able to dig into this awesome information. Now I have to time and my fingers won’t allow me to do big quilts anymore so quilt as you go is my new go to. Thank you so much for all the inspiration. Your quilts are beautiful.

    I absolutely love your tutorials and I love making quilts. I do agree it is quite hard machine quilting a large quilt on your sewing machine. I always have to hand quilt my quilts. I am new to your channel and I have just purchased your handbook today and I get it tomorrow....I'm so excited lol. I am very interested and excited to learn this quilt as you go method. Thank you for sharing and teaching everyone the joy of quilting. My grandmother thought me how to quilt when I was 5....when she passed away I inherited both of her antique singer machines....sad to say I only have ever used the 1.....the treadle suits I'm my bedroom and I'm trying to get the hang of it before I decide to start quilting with it haha.

      Oh Amanda, I am thrilled you are learning from and enjoying my Videos.
      I know any one can learn to quilt no mater what age so long as we know the process and that it is easy to understand.
      I took up quilting many years ago I never owned a sewing machine or had every sewn a stitch in my life.
      My big challenge was that I had no one at all to teach me so I had to learn by my mistakes and learn from those mistakes and figure out a way to make it easy for myself.
      You can do this girl and I am hear to help in any way I can.

    I just finished a half-bed quilt using your technique. I needed a half-queen quilt because I am always cold and my husband is always hot. I love the way the quilt turned out, but wow it would have been hard to sew together the long rows if it had been a full quilt, with more rows being crammed into the small space to the right of the needle apparatus. I have only a small regular sewing machine, not a long-arm machine. Would one do hand-stitching if one were making a full quilt?

    Ty soo much for this technique! Would I be able to connect Hunter's Star 1/4 Blocks using this technique in reverse?....In other words, the Blocks would be sewn Right Sides Together instead of Wrong, and then the Sashing would be put on the Back? I have seen people do this, but they use the Hoop Sister's technique of 1st cutting the Backing/Batting very very close to the stitching, then stitching the Blocks RST, then covering the Back with the Sashing. I am just wondering if cutting out the Batting/Backing like that is what makes those "Hinges" between the Blocks. So, maybe leaving the Batting/Backing in, like your technique does, might eliminate those Hinges? I have my 4 Quarter Blocks ready to sew together, but I am so torn on whether I should cut that Batting/Backing or not?

    • @PQWQuilting
      @PQWQuilting  Před 2 lety

      Hi , Sounds like you are making a stunning quilt.
      I would leave the batting there if it is not too bulky, but I think if you press the seams open then glue them down with the Roxanne Glue and press the seams once again to set the glue it should sit nicely for you once you put the sashing over the top of the seams.
      Good luck , cheers Pauline

    • @PQWQuilting
      @PQWQuilting  Před 3 lety

      You can put the sashing on the back of the quilt when joining GAYG but you will see the stitching lines on the front of the quilt where you stitch the sashing down. If you think about how you would be quilting the blocks and you were to quilt straight lines the stitching of the sashing will then look like on of the quilting lines. Enjoy

      I have tried all the different types and brands of wadding with my QAYG techniques.
      The only batting I got the result I wanted was the Hobbs double sided fusible wadding , I get no bulk at all .
      I think if you use a thicker wadding I would grade it back so the sashing sits better.

      I do have a CZcams video on my Back to Back QAYG technique. you can make the Sashings any size you want and any style.
      for example if you want your sashing to be 21/2" wide you cut the fabric 5" wide and put it through the 21/2" Sasher tool . you cut strips of backing fabric 3" wide and join a block to either side of the strip with a 1/4" seam , you then put the 21/2" Sashing over the cover strip.
      It is a very simple technique once you do it once it will all be easy from then on.
      Please let me know if I can answer any more questions.

    • @PQWQuilting
      @PQWQuilting  Před 2 lety

      Hi Amber, My Sasher tools are like the Bias makers , but when I come to making all the different Sashing we do for my Quilt as You Go techniques the Bias makers will not do them. I can also make Bindings with the tools, if I cut my binding strips 21/2" wide I put the strip into the 11/4" sasher and press the tool with the iron, it makes it so much quicker and no burnt fingers
      This is the reason I invented the tools and why I called them the Sasher collection.
