Don’t beat yourself up over not attending the funeral. Funerals are really only for the living. Pay your respects and celebrate her life whenever you choose. Light a candle, take time to think of her and hold your own funeral. Regrets are useless, just remember her in your heart 💕

It takes a brave man to open up his heart and cry over the loss of a loved one when they are "supposed" to be strong. Everybody should have have the right to open up and let their feelings run free. We are not made of stone and your reaction is very touching.

A massive shout out to all those who've lost a parent and never had the opportunity to say the things which needed to be said when they had the chance, including me. We'll always carry that pain...James and his father were both officers in the British military, as has been mentioned, and despite being very close, were never overtly emotional with each other, and when this amazing video was made, James's father had only recently been diagnosed with Stage 4 kidney disease, so this video ( done in one take) was a very tough one for James to complete, and we can hear the slight wavering of his voice on occasion. He refused to use 'Auto Tune' because he wanted everything to be 100% real and genuine. I heard he donated every penny of his royalties of this song to the brilliant UK charity' Help For Heroes' who do so much great work for ex-servicemen & women, which was a lovely thing to do. God bless him. ❤ 👍 🙋‍♂

It's the worst things I've ever experienced yet it's a sad part of life, our parents went through it, we'll go through it and our kids will go through it, it's how the world works and evolves

I missed my grandma's funeral, too...she slowly and painfully passed away over about two years of fighting dementia/alzheimers, and I was never there in person to help comfort her or even other members of my family. I was able to talk to her on the phone--she couldn't talk back--and say my goodbyes the day before she passed, and that helped me and I think that it helped her in some way be able to let go of the fight. For a while, I lived with the regret of not being there and with not having visited more (we lived 2/3 across the country from each other), but I have moved past that and know in my heart that, being at the funeral or not, she knows that I loved her immensely and would not be disappointed that I wasn't there. I bet that your cousin's grandma knew the way that you felt about her, and that she wouldn't want you to live with regret over not being at the funeral. Take comfort in believing that, because I don't believe that anyone worthy of such love would ever want someone to live with regrets after they pass.

James wrote it to his father who struggled with cancer. His father got a kidney transplant in January this year and is doing well. James said in an interview that this song inspired a lot of people to donate their kidneys to save lives so that's so amazing. The message is to appreciate the time you have with your loved ones. My man we're all individual beings and grieve differently. You loved and cared for her in life and that will always be with you.

It's okay that you didn't go to your Grandmom's funeral. What matters is what you and she did together while she was alive. She is at peace now and I'm sure she wants you to be happy when you think of her. She wouldn't want you to be beating yourself up for not having attended her funeral. Maybe it was just too much for you at the time. Don't worry, she understands and she's watching over you now. Energy doesn't die, we just transform. ❤️🙏🏼❤️

A tender heart is a sign of good character. Music moves us, and takes us to places we may not even know we are capable of going. But you know that, for that is why you do these videos. We can share what these songs have meant to our lives, and you can share what they mean to you, and we become brothers. Keep up the good work! We'll keep watching!

Your big heart is beautiful! Don’t beat yourself up. Seriously. She’s in Heaven, and didn’t give a hoot if you didn’t go to a funeral! She would want to go share her spirit with each person you meet everyday! Live young one! Love! It’s all ok. ❤️❤️❤️

I didn't go to my best friends funeral 2 years ago. I let people who didn't like us being friend and making shit seedy get in the way. He would go to mine no matter what. 17 years of friendship and I fkd up at the last minute. Just when he needed me most. Currently drinking cheap wine and crying
