My childhood memories of Kozhikode are always flavoured with the aroma of mouthwatering biryani. But now, Kozhikode is bustling with both new-age restaurateurs and old-world chefs. As a perfervid foodie declared 'if there is a food heaven on Earth, it is here, it is here, it is here'.
At times,I used to walk with a bunch of foodies, they are such self-confessed gluttons, personally I had myriad occasions to break bread with them in various restaurants in the city.
We had long food walk around Kozhikode in pursuit of authentic delicacies.
Many of them were expert connoisseurs in matters of taste.
They notice every nuance of flavour in the meal.
I remember those aimless wandering around city looking for bookstores, cafe and coffee shops, and guzzling copious cups of coffee and shovelling down lovely jubbly biryani.
At the risk of sounding a bit biased towards Kozhikode, let me tell you, Kozhikode has almost become the food capital of Kerala.
I can’t wait to go around visiting these eateries again.
The number of coffee shops in the city has mushroomed in recent years.
As somebody put it, coffee houses around the world have bred more poets, painters, thinkers and plain nuts than any institution anywhere.
Kozhikode is simply unstoppable.
I'm planning to visit Kozhikode for the first and I want to try the cuisine. Would be great if you could share some of these spots. Thank you.
