I watched this just to see where I'm headed with ghosting. Totally awesome. Now...back to the beginner lesson for this scallywag!
Love the vids! Thanks a lot for giving us such useful lessions - it's really appreciated!
You’re a great player and teacher. Thanks for sharing!!🙏🏽
thanks Jared. I LOVE grooves like this. The first groove is one of my favorite to play. i'll definitely learn the rest!
Great lesson Jared, this is definitely one of my favourites.
Great drummer, even better teacher! I'm very grateful you're sharing your knowledge, let alone for free. Many thanks dude.
This was really helpful man. Thank you and great video!
Great stuff!! Can't wait to work on it! Nice snare btw
This is perfect, thank you for this helpful lesson!
Was just going to post that. Love their drummer's style.

lol
Only way I know how.
Really gr8 video. Loved this!
Fantastic jared.. very nice technique to grow ghost note stroke..👍
Great ideas!
Good stuff. More advanced lessons!
Ian Mosely of Marillion uses the final technique quite regularly. Nice to see it demonstrated here.
jared, ur fuckin cool man! u motivate me alot! been playing drums for about 12 years now and ive never seen practice vids like urs before it helps me so much thanks meng !
Jared, will the song you played along to at the end be available as a play-along on your site sometime? I'd love to jam along to it and maybe upload a cover of it, it sounds really groovy and fun to play along to.
The Rosanna Shuffle every drummers love
I have only been playing a few years and I just recently started incorporating ghost notes but I had no idea they were called that. I just liked the way they sounded haha :D
Nice grooves. Always are.
Sick grooves
thanks it really helped
Thx for the tuto :)
Think I’m ready to start practicing the first 2 but damn that third one is insane!
Purdie shuffle! I love that one.
those triplets sound sick
ive started with an electronic drum. i think alesis dm6 or the ddrum dd1 are the best for starting.
greetings from berlin
oh nice!
Tnx. Actually - thanks so much JF.
hi could you pls do some more viedeos on Triplets and catagorize them in Beginner intermediate and advanced?
@Kudan26 yeah i posted cause the shuffle he played is remarkably similar to Bonham's yet he credits the fame to Pocaro. Either way, great video.
gracias
Second half of The Cinema Show from Genesis is a nice ghost notes paradiddle example.
The intro clean😂
@carcassgrindcorpsesc If you're looking at advanced lessons you should probably already know the 4 paradiddles, as they have been covered in previous lessons. And it's just good to know the rudiments.
Nice
Bring back the drum battles! :)
Sounds like Fool in the Rain. I need to pull me notes out, that song is fun.
thank you for lovely ghost notes.
I woud be very happy if you could play fool in the rainbow by John Bonham
You know you're getting there when the intermediate level is too easy and the advanced level is just hard enough for you to be able to work on.
Wow, straight up flexing at the end of the video! My left hand doesn’t work like that currently! 😂😂
Can you teach us the "Mushanga" groove by Toto?
Can ghost notes be played on the bass drum?
Question: I have watched the full ghost notes series (beginner-intermediate-advanced) and I can do excersise 3 at 50bpm, but not a 100 simply because I can't make the drumstick bounce quick enough on the snaredrum. My question is: is this caused because of a bad snare drum tension or something else that has to do with my kit, or is it my technique? I am so eager to learn this, because then I can make rolls with my right hand and ghosts with my left, and that's what I want to learn. Thanks a lot!
It might be your technique. It’s important to learn how to freeze down the stick quick enough to hit the ghost immediately after it while still staying relaxed.
I started with a simmons sd9k and being around all my friends who are very good percussionists made me really regret going the electronic route. They're a little cheaper and quiet, but they lack many characteristics which are only available through acoustic sets. Just something to think about.
@MRMJ317 NICE BRO!
The only 4 exercises you ever need to develop your ghost notes, are all 4 variations of paradiddles played between left hand and right foot, with 8th on the high hats.
@Spacecowboyy hey man, i am in love with Halperns playing too and just had an online lesson with him via Bandhappy. A lot of his grooves are based on linear patterns between kick, snare and hats. Try playing ghosted singles between the hands and feet and adding a accented back beat on the 3. Played at 16th's between the snare and kick - skskskskSksksksk skskskskSksksksk. Same thing with doubles - sskksskkSskksskk sskksskkSskksskk. Hope this helps, they sound awesome up to speed!
Genial amigo, un saludo desde Ecuador- Cuenca!
Are you uploading the exact same content on both of your channels?
permeatate... nice
Couldn't play the first one, played the second one like cake... Damn you placement!!
The woes of drumming.
Thanks man you're the main ghost 😂 how are things in Vancouver with all the drag Qeen riots and high living cost ...are people still relaxed as in 2009 ...is the music scene blooming ? Anyone ?
Can you do a hip hop style drumming tutorial for beginners, lol?
I'm just a beginner but thought I'd drop in on this lesson. It can't be that difficult, right? Well it is lol. I don't even understand how people can pull this off
@Kudan26 Pocaro might be famous for the shuffle he played, but i think Bonham's shuffle is more famous than Pocaro's.
Sir plzz required me best drum book . I am job parson so for that reason I have no time to go drum school.
sounds jazzy
3:05
mastodon?
Most famous? I believe Bonham's "fool in the rain" is a little more well known
Mario Mandzukić? 😂
JARED DO AN IAMA POST ON REDDIT!
WOW YOU MENTION JEFF
Reddit shirt loooooooooool
bruh jared is literally the first person ever i've seen wear a reddit logo proudly on his chest
Me to does it seem hard
It's called a double stroke. I bet you can find this technique at youtube all over! ;-)
DW kit? with what kinna kick pedal?
Those are Speed Cobra's :)
I'm inbetween intermediate and advanced, cause the intermediate stuff was easy, but my chops are lacking after marching band ended :(
Those left hand triple strokes make my brain hurt.
Ughhh this is so frustrating! I cant do any of theese grooves :(
Intermediate notes were harder :D
2.20 sound like your playing toto - rosanna
+No-lessons drum cover 0:36 he says it.
ROSSANA - Toto !!!!!
You are near it
Same for me, doesnt really sound good played slowly but sound GREAT played fast
I never understood why drummers make such a big deal about these ghost notes. The rest of us musicians just call them ... DYNAMICS
hesingshesobs ghost notes should be barely heard at all. he's purposefully making them loud. Other musicians also use ghost notes, especially jazz saxophonists trumpet players and so forth. its actually possible to truly ghost a note on instruments that require breath, on percussive or string instruments I guess u could just call them dynamics but still there are slight differences
Good luck trying to master those two ghostnotes followed by an accent with traditional grip...
👻🎶
0:41 you said porsay...vampire..
My sound cut out for a second at:07 so it sounded like he said " hi my name is Jared F**k :P
when you know the difference of the word " BIG and HUGE" youll know the answer why they call it ghost note.
awesome. and im not even a drummer.
no troll dislike? thumbs up
And Bernard Purdy does circles around Pocaro's shuffle.
Isn't this the guy in Grandma's Boy that sleeps in a car bed?
Jeff stole the drum riff from John Bonham. Fool In The Rain, Led Zeppelin. He admitted it before he passed on.
you know, this site is awesome for... you know basic learning and documentation gathering, but advanced drumming is more than... weird ghost notes and fancy names, it's taking all that you know about music styles and fusing them
Lolololololololololololololol
i think ill go back to intermediate lol
Helllllllp
JESUS CHRIST Loves y'all
Learn how to play ghost notes and you'll understand.
for some reason to me ghost notes dont sound good at all unless the groove or whatever is being played is being played really fast.
Like for the Reddit shirt!
Please, Jared, please. Call it "The Purdy shuffle" like it is.
And Purdy is more famous.
remove the metronome ticks cliks on future vids. totally cant hear any natural accens in your ghost notes
