1nsane was one of those very memorable video games that was way ahead of its time when released. This game was made nearly 20 years ago and blew away any other offroading game in terms of realistic physics back in 2000 and it held that technological lead for more than a decade after!
This is also one of those games that had a very strong community backing of modders\fan base. The game was built on a realistic atom physics engine and there were tools made available for users to actually create their own vehicles for the game. It certainly was not an easy task, but it was a very rewarding experience when completed.
Anyways, as the game fell further and further back in time the modding community eventually moved on to more modern games/simulators and all traces of these old mods started to fade away as all the big websites that hosted content eventually shut down.
Well, after getting a nostalgic crave recently to play this cool game again with those good old mods that made the game oh so much better and more realistic; I spent a great deal of time scouring the web trying to find these long lost 1nsane mods and, believe it or not, I finally came across a little corner of the web that actually had most of these mods still!
Why even bother with this old game you may ask? Well, for one, 1nsane's vehicle physics are surprisingly still better than a lot of current racing titles out there today and with the included mods the graphics are way better and much easier on the eyes as well as providing a new experience to people who don't mod games or have never played it before. Not to mention that pretty much any modern basic Windows laptop or desktop can play this modded version of the game smoothly and enjoy it once again while looking better than ever!
So, for myself and all other former enthusiasts of this excellent game and its mods from so long ago; I have put together this little treat for you. Since this game is now so old it is freeware; here is a pack of the full game with the best and highest quality add on vehicles I could find for it already installed.
In this game pack you will find that all the vehicles in the game have been replaced with higher quality vehicles of similar types and there are even some vehicle types added that were never in the game, such as monster trucks and semis for instance. Playing this game with all these different types of vehicles racing together is very fun and gives kind of an open world "Motorstorm" type feel to the game.
The game originally only had 23 very blurry low detail vehicles, but with today's computing power; this game is actually capable of much better than that now! This vehicle pack contains 80 hand selected high quality, fully custom community made vehicles with a few add on maps thrown in as well. There are Buggies, Truggies, Trucks, Semis, UTV/ATVs, Rally, Dakar, Baja/Trophy, Muscle cars, Crawlers, 6X6s, 8X8s, Planes, Buses; it's got it all and more folks!
Install instructions are in the README.TXT file included in the pack, please read it in its entirety before attempting to play the game and here is the download link to the RAR file that you can download and then open with WinRAR...

The good old times, saw some Fat-Alfie's and TRW's vehicles there, those 2 really knew how to make em look good considering the limitations of the game engine. Think limit was for the car body something around 2000-2200 polygons.
Wow, I actually made that bj baldwin #97 trophy truck from the beginning of the video, blows my mind how far my cars have gotten! Thanks for this awesome hd mod bud, I've been looking for that for years.

I love that you posted this, and with a download link!! I started missing 1nsane last week and luckily found my modded copy still on a flash drive. Looked it up on youtube to see if there were any new videos and came across this, awesome!! I wish insaneheat was still up.

I plan to to install windows XP on an old laptop I got and put games from late 90s to early 2000s. 1nsane is on the list but there are currently almost no sites that have those custom vehicles and maps unfortunately. Some awesome vehicles I see here included, This Praga truck at 7:15 was one of my favorites. I had a favorite map, it was big and had everything - different mountains, dirt track, ramps, roads, all sorts of stuff to have fun, I think it was called Carnage, but could not find it.

How I wish there was a modern remake of this game. Well BeamNG is close to being that, but still...
we play this game this day at multplayer in the same room.. and the year is 2021....return the flage is the best game mode
I don´t know if there are any of my mods in the pack, but I used to make mainly rwd american car mods, like the Buick Riviera and Mercury Marauder pickup :D
Did you use the method of extracting the .idf files into folders so all the mods could be installed at the same time?
There was a limit how many mods you could have in the game before textures and maps started disappearing.

I Installed it and get error "algier" and "daylight" are the only tracks available but cant play because of crash

You can find mods here vnovak.com/1nsane.html and also links to other websites. And I recommend using a program, I believe it is called idf converter, it unpacks mod files so that you don't get mod size limit.
I also made a modpack myself, but I avoided highly detailed vehicles because of fps issues. I might upload it somewhere if I can find it

I had to scavenge the web to find these as they are not all on any one site anymore unfortunately. Also remember that if you put in any more vehicles or maps than what is already in this pack; the game will start to have many issues like missing textures and other content, so not recommended.
