An ecclesial authority which, by logic, must exist and did exist to not only articulate the rule of faith and ultimately the Apostles Creed and the Nicene Creed, as well as the codification and canon of scripture, is "arrogant swagger?" Hmmmm.
I know many who don't like this line in the creed. And just can't bring themselves to say it. Even though it's been carefully explained to them that catholic (lower case "c") has nothing to do with the Roman Catholic church. Nothing. So the simple solution is to replace the word catholic with "Christian" or "universal". It doesn't change the meaning of the creed at all.
This is funny actually. The catholic as in Catholic Church means exactly that, universal, BECAUSE, there was supposed to be only one church, the one Christ left so you guys should really thank Luther for the Power to read Catholic and "interpret" even that. Unbelievable.

If it has nothing to do with the catholic church,( which the body of Christ is not), Than just rewrite the creed to all follers of Christ around the world.
I cannot say the word catholic in a creed I can stand for.
Believers meeting in Christ, instead of catholic church
