  • Hi! Just got the idea of making a DIY Countersteer mod (1.875 Ratio) for my Kyosho Mini-Z MA-020, from watching Beaver's Hobby Channel
    Decided to make a video of it, seeing that Mini Z drift videos seem to be scarce. Would probably make more if there is some sort of demand xD.
    Currently only have the MA-020 with stock controller, have a couple of ASCs: Nissan GTR R32, Alfa Romeo Brera, Initial D RX7 FC, with some more on the way :P
    For Mini Z content I do recommend checking out both Beaver Hobby's and also BMR 3 :P

    nice vid Man! iv'e tried LF1 set of tires there great on tile floors and marble floors..but not tried the LF4s yet.

      LF-4s are lower grip. Personally I prefer them as I can perform slower more precise slides, but for some they find that they lose more control as the car responds slower.

    Nice one! Thanks for sharing, how do you find the CS on longer higher speed arcs?

      Not as easy to control as 50/50 AWD that's for sure, I actually have trouble going straight past certain speeds. Longer high speed arcs is actually pretty controllable, what was difficult is transitioning between corners, where controlling the weight shift becomes really important. I noticed that more weight at the front does help transitions but it affects the high speed sliding stability. Will be experimenting more with different tires too, waiting on some DS racing LF1 and LF4s with different widths. Hopefully I can find a config to stabilise it a little more.
      I'm not sure how easy a "normal" CS mod with proper setup should drift, this mod makes it no longer a breeze like the awd, however it does make it so much more satisfying pulling off slides while looking much cooler, even if it's slightly less controllable xD

    Hi, nice mod. How did you manage to fit the bigger pinion 15T to the rear diff? Did you make the diff thinner by removing the middle part?

    • @Auranapse
      @Auranapse  Před 4 lety

      If I remember I had to file the diff down until it fit.

    How can I glue my rear axle? Do you have any DIY tutorial?

      You can refer to BMR's video if you need help with that :P

      It's a pretty simple process.

    Can you post tutorial on how to do it w mini z ma020 😭

      It's something I did pretty long ago and required me sacrificing a pinion, spur and diff. I think Beaver's Hobby has got a video on making DIY CS gear as well.
      I just cut and attached a pinion to a 90mm spur gear to lengthen it to about a 94mm gear, then filed down the differential until the gears can fit without issues.

    is the gyro necessary for this and what is meant with filed glued? is this just to lock the rear diff or is there an additional step involved with filing something off? thanks!

    • @Auranapse
      @Auranapse  Před 4 lety +1

      Well the gyro is not really needed, it's just there to help me countersteer the car abit as the car spins easily without it.
      I just poured glue into the diff to lock it :P

      Auranapse is a front one way recommended for this? thanks :)

    • @Auranapse
      @Auranapse  Před 4 lety

      Sorry for the late reply, but a front one way is definitely needed for a CS setup as the rear wheels spin faster than the front. Without the front one way the front wheels will be dragged along and it would have handling problems. :P
