My dad always taught me, "buy the best quality tools you can afford, and you won't regret it." And I have followed that, and never regretted it and I'm 66yrs old.
I have had this bedroll for, well, this entire season. Although I havent been out much this year, due to work, the 5 or 6 nights I have spent in it, were amazing. This has changed my sleep system. The only other thing I will change to, going forward, is when we get a hiker trailer :)
For someone who works in the woods for a lot of the year this makes complete sense. It's no different than buying a good office chair or mattress for your home- if you're spending a good portion of your time on something, then spending more on comfort and ergonomics isn't just a 'nice to have', it's an investment in the longevity of your body and your ability to keep working and supporting your family. The once a year car camper may not see the point, but someone like Dave may not see much value in a 2000 dollar office chair compared to someone who writes code 70 hours a week.
Love that Badger bed setup! I would consider it strictly as a conveyance sleep kit. Although I'm pretty stoked on my current sleep system, which works all year round too: an ARC bivy, marino wool liner, then an EE quilt or wool blanket depending on weight considerations on just a static V inflatable (would like to upgrade to a neoair lite one day). Thanks for another great video, Dave. Super stoke for the ATV camping series!
Such a sweet sleep system, looks to be very versatile and customizable. I can definitely say,"Yeah! I want one!" Thanks for the video and for sharing your thoughts and ideas with us.
Hi Dave, I greeting from Australia 🇦🇺, thank you for your time to make these videos, These remind me of the swags we used on the Station in stock camps. You will have to gauge the amount of air , if you are a big person it will be hard to zip up, spent 9 months in one ,very comfortable, mattress not air, they could leak after a while. These are a great if you have conveyance. Greatly appreciated, thank you .
I said it in the first video and I'll say it in this one. If I were in the market for a new system I would pay the money for this one if Dave stands behind it I have confidence in its worth as a sleep system.
That's good stuff right there . Simple , durable , efficient ... I may try a thermarest in my helke wax bedroll . I've spent hundreds on air pads and every one failed . And it wasn't twigs . It was constant use .
Thank you for the time and effort in these. I appreciate it and how you are working in the ATV and side by side. With my health now that is the only way that I can go no rucking any more.
what i would appreciate is to see dave lay this system out and then next to it provide a "common man" solution as an alternative for people who want to approximate the result but cant swing $800 for their sleep system. they dont have to be equal. just alternatives. i - and i would be many - got into dave's channel because of all the "common man" videos he used to do. for people looking to get into bushcraft seeing this, plus the costs of your pack, boots, knife, etc., etc., a lot of people feel like they cant do this activity. its good to hear dave emphasize that this is a system who are going to sleep out "a lot", not people who are going to camp out occasionally or casually.
100% right about investing in good gear. I have my Superior hammock kitted for 3 seasons. Underquilt built in. Down top quilt… and I bring my military sleeping bag when it’s close to freezing. Invest in a setup and camping gear.. if you plan to use a lifetime. 👍🏻
Wish I'd had that in the military. Due to my MOS I always was on a helicopter or minimum a larger vehicle, duce, 5 ton, or HEMMIT, that would've been perfect.
I ordered my Badger Bedroll after watching this video. I already had the Mondo King so I was able to save a few bucks. It would be nice if they’d give you a discount code.
It kills me how some people think they should get a great product for so cheap. Company’s need to make this thing called “PROFIT” to maintain plus earn on their investment. If it’s worth xyz to you than it’s your right to buy it. Good job Dave!
Nice rig, Dave. I have one of those mondo king mattresses, too, and I like it a lot. I use it with my Kodiak canvas bedroll. Your perspective on the ratios of pack weight being bedding material is exactly right... a good night's sleep is proof of a good (smart) woodsman. Some of us are getting older (me) and there are folks with physical disabilities like chronic back pain and degenerative disk disease (me, again) who cannot sleep on the ground without a nice air mattress. But I'm not going to let back pain keep me from enjoying the woods. With setups like this, I don't have to. Thanks for posting! Peace to you from Alaska.
The Bullkelp bedroll is the only other thing I've seen like this, but I like this better. The way I'm going, I want to travel along with camping, this could also be useful in a hotel room since the beds are known to not be clean.
15 pounds is how much my dog weighs. That bedroll is handier than what we carried in the Army. We had a sleeping bag, air mattress, shelter half and poncho. This was in the 70s. They might have replaced the air mattress with a mattress pad and the shelter half with a complete tent.
That thing looks great and I'd love to have one for deer camp or weekend camping/turkey hunting trips. Unfortunately, $800 for a sleep system simply isn't a realistic idea for me. I can't justify dropping several paychecks on camping gear when gas is still around $3 a gallon, compared to it being only $1.50 back in 2020.
I got a complete surplus MSS for less than 200. Add a good tarp and ground sheet (neither of which you really need with the MSS) for another 100 to 200.
I would say you haven’t done too many night in the woods in it without a ground pad and I have slept on them plenty. They are far from comfortable on bare ground
This set up needs a mosquito tent for use in Australia. We've got nasty stinging ants, etc as well as snakes and mosquito spread Ross River fever in places. 🇦🇺
Dave, I like your new system, yea $500 is a lot of money, but today everything is a lot of money, I’m old and like my comfort so I’m convinced with your system is a great way to get your needed rest…..I might have missed it but is this big enough for tall people..
As we get older comfort is nice. I am with you on that. Can i sleep with less sure. Do i hurt the next day, most likely. Did i get good sleep, probably not.
Buy once cry once. Good gear is an investment in enjoying your time in the outdoors. Never fun hiking around with a kinked back 😂. Just because you can rough it doesn't mean you should.
Exactly! Why choose to be the uncomfortable?!? Do you sleep on the floor at home next to your nice comfortable bed? We can all learn a thing or two from our dogs.
I would like to see how you incorporate it into a pack load Dave. As attractive as the Badger is, like you said it's bulky and 1/3 of most walking loads.
Head to your local REI and test out the Thermarest MondoKing or the Exped MegaMat. These are both super comfortable and may do the trick. I’m a side sleeper and the MondoKing works great. My hips are fully supported and I can’t feel the ground.
I think canvas cutter makes a better version of this. I dont think bivvys in general are very functional compared to tents/tarps and a bedroll is less functional than a bivvy.

When I was in my 20's I could sleep anywhere, but now my sleeping on the ground days are over. That bedroll looks great!
I have had the Badger bed 30 for just over a month and I can say without a doubt, I’ve had the best outdoor sleeping experience of my life!
Well there ya go

Never met you but love you Dave you've really changed my life and thousands of others. Anytime is a good time to remind you that
Nice setup. Everything you need for a comfortable night is the woods.
Make a canvas bag to put it in, protect it from branches on the trail and the rain if you're riding in bad weather.
The value of proper rest is immeasurable. Well worth it!🎉
Love that Badger bed setup! I would consider it strictly as a conveyance sleep kit. Dave thank you for your enthusiasm for being out in woods even after all these years and inspiring us all to get outside and enjoy the outdoors! 👍
I don't think there's another person who's given people the amount of knowledge in their craft as Dave.
And this is why people complain, because he destroys their delusions…
practicing survival techniques is important, but sometimes you just want a nice, comfy night out in nature, and this would be perfect for that!
Such a sweet sleep system, looks to be very versatile and customizable. I can definitely say,"Yeah! I want one!" Thanks for the video and for sharing your thoughts and ideas with us.
Looks like a good way to “smooth it”!

Another awesome video Dave. Telling it like it is, no BS. The right kit to meet the need at hand and do the best job.
That's good stuff right there . Simple , durable , efficient ... I may try a thermarest in my helke wax bedroll . I've spent hundreds on air pads and every one failed . And it wasn't twigs . It was constant use .
Very impressive system
Can’t believe yo don’t have a million subs yet. Thanks for the content
Actually Subs doesn’t mean a lot really it the views you get from the subs you have that is the metric to be best looked at
Thank you for the time and effort in these. I appreciate it and how you are working in the ATV and side by side. With my health now that is the only way that I can go no rucking any more.

I have done countless videos on different bed roll set ups of all kinds buddy
Well done Dave, right into the substance. Love it.

That Looks like an amazing bed roll.

Agreed

Looks like a great system. Thanks for your time on that one.
Oh man I cant wait to do some wool blanket camping and get my canoe and Just relax out there. Your videos are very helpful dave

Cool stuff, love this series great job sir 🙌🏼💪🏼
Awesome video Dave! Love that sleep system! You get what you pay for!
Fantastic setup, thanx Dave
Thanks for the continuing update on the system
Great follow-up, I understand better now . Thanks

Will be looking forward to the next episode in using the Yowie Bedroll. Cheers DC.
Look forward to seeing how this holds up. I've been reluctant to buy anything inflatable just due to the bad hype inflatables get for leaking.
I have to say I've been watching your bids from close to the first .just want to day Much respect. And thanls for the decade of knowlege givin out .
I'm getting me one I travel from cost to cost a lot camping off the back of my motorcycle and that looks worth the money to me
You get what you pay for, looks great.
Dave, você é o melhor no que faz, grande abraço aqui do Brasil. 👏👏👏
This is freaking swesome thank you Mr. Dave

Cool colour tarp 😎
Good to hear you want to spend time with your wife / family. Camping comfortably makes all the difference I meant sleeping comfortably
Really appreciate your videos 👍😎
Looks super comfy
That’s a very nice light bed roll
I got a complete surplus MSS for less than 200. Add a good tarp and ground sheet (neither of which you really need with the MSS) for another 100 to 200.
I would say you haven’t done too many night in the woods in it without a ground pad and I have slept on them plenty. They are far from comfortable on bare ground
I'm looking forward to the camping videos, I really miss those
Really awesome bedroll
I like to camp up here in the north woods.. preferably on the islands-- no bears to worry about!😂😂😁
Love your videos 👍🏻
That is a nice looking beed Roul
I laughed when you mentioned only using an accordion mat. That's all I've ever seen Shawn Kelly use and always wondered why and how??
Smoothing it in the outdoors.
Nice set up
Where can I get one of those bed rolls? Thanks in advance.
You’re a good man Dave
Good to have a ground cloth so that you don’t roll leaves and dirt into your bedroll.
Nice Set-up! See that you got the "LL Bean" Boot's on. 👍
They’re Georgia Boots
I like that camo pattern on the tarp..
This set up needs a mosquito tent for use in Australia. We've got nasty stinging ants, etc as well as snakes and mosquito spread Ross River fever in places. 🇦🇺
I slept in a Swag when I was in AUS for a week they are nice Kit for sure
Very Australian Swag-like setup. Pretty good.
Thanks Dave
I have been using a version of this for my whole life elk hunting out west. Might as well be comfortable.
Yup, the older we get, the more comfort matters. LOL
Thank you Dave…
Must be nice, we still have 3+ foot of snow in the woods here, and it snowed again 2 days ago.
Dave comes off as very Honest and truthful love this Channel!
Dave, I like your new system, yea $500 is a lot of money, but today everything is a lot of money, I’m old and like my comfort so I’m convinced with your system is a great way to get your needed rest…..I might have missed it but is this big enough for tall people..
It’s 82 inches long and that MondoKing mattress is 80 inches long. Hope that helps.
Awesome sleep system, you get what you pay for.
Boss, that is plush.
As we get older comfort is nice. I am with you on that. Can i sleep with less sure. Do i hurt the next day, most likely. Did i get good sleep, probably not.
Exactly buddy and when you do it for a living? Im sure those in trades don’t go to work with Harbor freight tools
I love the pattern on that ultra light tarp? What brand is is?
"This sword weighs too much!" - "Grow stronger!"
You have any ideas on using a Cpap out in the woods- it’s main reason I don’t get out in the woods
Awesome
Buy once cry once. Good gear is an investment in enjoying your time in the outdoors. Never fun hiking around with a kinked back 😂. Just because you can rough it doesn't mean you should.

Didn't you do a video on a cowboy bed roll or the sort some years ago with a heavy duty wool blanket .
Looks legit
Hey Dave, I was wondering if you are going to try to use the badger in a hammock
can we get an update on the aftermarket M6 Scout sometime?
So nice
What tarp did you use in this video?Great video keep the good work!
Hammock gear
Does it have any issues with condsation, like you can find in a bivvy set up??
Nice system any info on the tarp
Hammock gear
What you recommend for people with back issues
Head to your local REI and test out the Thermarest MondoKing or the Exped MegaMat. These are both super comfortable and may do the trick. I’m a side sleeper and the MondoKing works great. My hips are fully supported and I can’t feel the ground.
Coo man
Do you have a promo code for born outdoors?
Always good content, Dave...
Is that axe and maul tattoo on your hand for damage contolman
Yeah yeah, the Born Outdoor kit is great, but excuse me... Is that a Relv MOAB camo tarp?! Where in the heck can a guy find that. Color me jealous.
Nice bedroll system.. I can definitely understand as much as you sleep outside the cost is justified 100 percent ,,
I think canvas cutter makes a better version of this.
I dont think bivvys in general are very functional compared to tents/tarps and a bedroll is less functional than a bivvy.
