In this video, I want to talk about hot flashes. I’ve talked about different causes of hot flashes before, but I want to cover some other causes of hot flashes that you may not know about.
The hypothalamus is a region in your forebrain that controls the menstrual cycle. It works through the pituitary gland. Around age 52, you lose your ovarian function, also known as menopause. With that comes a loss of certain hormones. Your adrenal gland acts as a backup for these hormones.
During menopause, you may experience:
• Hot flashes
• Night sweats
• Anxiety
• Depression
• Stress
• Muscle loss
• Bone breakdown
Strengthening your adrenals is one of the best ways to help prevent menopause symptoms. You can strengthen your adrenals by getting quality sleep, lowering your stress levels, and normalizing your cortisol levels.
Your pituitary gland is a major storage site for vitamin E. When you go through menopause, your vitamin E levels may drop, which may cause more symptoms. A high-quality vitamin E complex can help reduce symptoms.
Iodine from sea help is also an effective remedy for hot flashes. Iodine helps balance estrogen dominance.
Improving adrenal function alone is typically effective. But there’s another cause of hot flashes, which is your liver. Your liver’s purpose is to detoxify chemicals, poisons, heavy metals, and excess hormones. It removes hormones when you have far too much.
The problem is, many people don’t have full liver function-especially after your 50s.
You can improve liver function by:
• Consume cruciferous vegetables (or DIM)
• Taking calcium D-glucarate
• Detoxing the liver
• Lowering ammonia
• Increase liver circulation

Thanks for watching. I hope this video helped explain how your liver can contribute to hot flashes during menopause.
I got rid of my hot flashes completely in about a month after I gradually worked from 1 teaspoon Of cold pressed organic flaxseed oil twice daily, up to 2 tablespoons daily. It regulated my hormones, and I didn’t get any hot flashes for almost a year while I took it. About three weeks after I stopped taking it, I started getting some again, but they were extremely manageable, And seem to lessen Over the next six months, then they disappeared. That was almost 10 years ago.
Thanks for your advice!
Sheri Rottweilersforever You’re welcome! It was a lifesaver!❤️
How do you cold press it?
Did you find that much flaxseed oil made you gain, or did you include it in your calories for the day? I'm asking, because I do healthy keto watching my calories.
Beth Tagliarino You buy it cold pressed. It’ll be on the label.
I am from Russia and do not know English. I watch your videos from the person who translates them into Russian. I just wanted to thank you personally for these videos!

Thank you Dr. Berg! I started taking vitamin E 10 days ago. My hot flashes have been reduced 95%. I no longer wear tank tops and shorts in winter’s cold weather. I feel so much better. Thank you!

Dyah Viona oh that was such a nice thing to say Dyah, and I agree...
@@amandatkids854 thank you Amanda :)
I began getting night sweats at 42. Thank you for explaining menopause thoroughly.
Is it better now? I want to contact you as my mom faces something similar
The Carnivore diet works for me 100%. I'm 55. No menopause symptoms whatsoever!😀🙏✌️I've been between 98% and 100% total carnivore for over 20 years.
Not how menopause works. Diet doesn't replace the lost hormones that you need for healthy brain heart bones etc.
Eating kale doubles my hot flushes. Eating runner beans (phyto-estrogen) doubles them as well. But when I eat both together nothing changes, and I keep getting usual amount of hot flashes. Looks like both, too much and too little estrogen upsets the balance. Licorice root extract is an adaptogen which effectively reduces hot flushes for me, if I take it 2 x per day.
What a great and simple way to explain this. Thank you so much.
Dr. BERG, you are a true gem! Thank you for this video. I'm learning so much from your video and I keep sending them to my friends for their health questions. Thank you!
I like how you study things from diff angles and pass that on to us. This is significant. All the best! Thanks, Doc. 🌷
I came up with the exact same recommendation in the comments section earlier this year, having figured that out myself after a lot of praying!
I just 3 bottles of the Sea Kelp. Hoping it helps
@@patriciaburch6471 did it help?
What about women who have had hysterectomies? I haven't had a good night's sleep since that surgery!
Thank you for this video. Talk about perfect timing. I'm going to the health shop now and buy the supplements you recommended.
Flaxseed oil - 1-2 TBSP in the AM and again in the PM - worked wonders for me. But not in capsules, only the liquid form. I used Barlean's high-lignan. 😊👍
I need to contact you mam because i need to ask something and discuss, my mom also face similar issues. Kindly respond
Outstanding & informative as always!
Awesome video quick and straight to the point.

Thanks for the info. How much (mg) do you recommend of the Calcium D and DIM?
Thanks for the information on menopause and how to get rid of hot flashes.I will definitely try them.😓
These are great remedies doc! Also I totally swear by acupuncture - totally solved my hot flashes - a few sessions last me for almost 4-6 months - the thing is not every acupuncturist is great so you need to find someone who really understands it - it's a bit of an art I think
Once again, you're spot on, Dr. Berg! I have been ion a quest since I've been suffering from hot flashes/mood swings, and basically all of these symptoms you mention. I will try the remedies you recommend. Thank you and May God Bless You richly today and always. Keep the perimenopause/menopause videos coming, please.
Hi, did it work?
I tried everything possible thing to reduce hot flashes and night sweat nothing seems to work. I have been suffering for almost three years. No smoking no alcohol no caffeine very strict healthy diet and exercise and still sweating while writing this comment 🤦🏻♀️
Make sure you eat healthy fat and low sugar...
Thank you so much Doctor Berg ! My night sweats are bad ! Does the VIT E and Calicum still hold true since I had a full hysterectomy?
Luke tou were talking directly to me. Thank you so SO much for your time and insight! I will get some Dim.
Thank You Dr. For all the info. You are the best!!!
You are very welcome.
Thank you for the info! ♥️🌷 What about milk thistle to clean the liver from toxins? It's very effective and highly recommended in for example hemochromatosis, where liver stores all the iron entering the body, even the excess, which in turn poisons the entire body. People suffering from such illness show also way too low E-vitamin levels, but they're like dormant in an odd way, since when the excess iron is eliminated (often through phlebotomy) suddenly the E-vitamin levels go up like by magic without taking a single supplement.
I wish you could make a video of hemochromatosis one day. Many suffer from it without even knowing, and that causes premature death if not taken care of accordingly...
Wow! Thank you for your insightful comment
@@nkelemogobe8359 oh, you're welcome!
Dr Berg you are awesome! Thank you so much.
Where were you 35 years ago!LOL I have had a nightmare life with all this. Just now getting better thanks to your videos and a ND doctor.
Thanks Dr Berg this would help my Lady Sunita🙏
I’ve noticed that if I consume alcoholic drinks, I get more frequent hot flashes...at least 2-3 per day. However, if I stop, I have very few, like maybe 2 or less per week. Since alcohol affects liver function, this makes clear sense.
100 percent true!
I go through that too when I drink alcohol. I was always wondering why that was happening. But it makes sense now that I know I ain't the only one.
E P I do too with sugar. Alcohol turns to sugar so that also makes sense.
I’ve decided to do a prolonged water fast (5 days) to clean my system and to get on the path to a healthy liver function. I saw doctor Berg’s video on it and did some research. So far I’m on my 4th day.
@@Epicurious_Me please be careful with a water fast. My mother passed away from water intoxication when I was young. Be sure to get the electrolytes your body needs to function. ❤️
Just brilliant!
I cut sugar and starch out of my diet.......I rarely get a hot flash now
Thank you. I will try that. Thank you so so much. I suffer way too much.
I need to contact you mam because i need to ask something and discuss, my mom also face similar issues. Kindly respond
How long did it take for them to get better? I realize your comment is older, but I am miserable at night.
@@lissarx2459 Almost immediately, but could be different for you. Start off slow bc it can be a shock to the system. Good luck !
@@jenna6256 Thanks!
Wow, this is so helpful!
I've learnt a lot today thanks!
This is wonderful! I've researched and read a lot about hot flashes and menopause, but I've never heard of DIM and the Calcium D-glucarate for this. And all of the other natural things I have tried did not help. Thanks Dr. Berg. I see that SuperSmart supplements has a great one with these two plus iodine from kelp and other good stuff, but really expensive. I will keep looking for something.
Love it...awesome content; as usual 🤗💕👍🏼💯
I use Black Cohosh. It's working for me. Thank you Dr. For the information! 😊
Really helpful video for me thankyou☺
Thanks for the tip about Calcium-D-Glucarate, I'm def going to try that. What is the best daily mg dosage to take?
Dr. Berg, you are the best! I feel great because of you. Thank you!
Dr. Berg, it's very informative. Can you please make a video on How to Delay Menopause? Please share your views on foods to take and supplements to support. Thanks

Cruciferous Complete by Standard Process is great too!

A real true GEM! Thank you for being there for us. We need you Dr. Berg. May you live forever!❤️
Once again, Thank You Dr. Berg!
Of course, no problem.
I am a 63 year old woman who has Celiac Disease. I have never suffered with hot flashes. Don’t worry I do have other symptoms of menopause (memory/ cognitive and fatigue).
But having gone gluten-free completely a year before I went into menopause (late diagnosis for Celiac Disease) I believe it what saved me from having hot flashes.
No one seems to mention this as a possibility to avoid having hot flashes.
Something to try if you are having hot flashes.❤
I have been gluten and dairy free for about 7-8 years and I am having terrible hot flashes. But probably depends on many factors, that high cortisol is probably my downfall, life stress. Glad it's working for you! 😊
Will the calcium glucarate only decrease the bad estrogen? Can it be consumed even if one is already low on estrogen?
Omg great advice thank you sooooooo much.
Is sunscreen safe for vitiligo if they conatain titanium dioxide and zink oxide?? I want to buy a sunscreen for my mum so i want to know if they have side effects.............. if someone know anything i would appriciate it thanks!!! (sorry for my english btw)
Also thanks dr. Berg for all these vids and informations i really love your channel
What vitamin e pill is best for the hot flashes? Most are synthetic
Thank you Dr. Berg:)
Wild timing as I’m fasting 42 hours twice this week and have hot flashes each night lately...and well beyond post menopause so haven’t had them in few years. Thanks for this Dr.Berg!
I can not make sense of this message. What are you saying? "have hot flashes each night lately...and well beyond post menopause so haven’t had them!!!"
What do you mean? Contradicting msg
Thank you Dr.💖💖💖💖💖💖
Never suffered from them...thank God
Does taking adrenal supplements helps? My mom is having a hard time with the menopause and I thought about giving her the adrenal formula from Dr. Berg. Thanks!

I drink red clover tea and it works very well.
Try this ayurvedic remedy .1tsp fennel seed powder+ 1tsp shatavari powder + 1tsp licorice root powdermix all in one glass of water and drink 2times a day .
I had a hysterectomy 17 years ago. Now 63 yrs old. I mainly have occasional hot flashes during the day and sometimes hot head at night.
If I were to try some of these products...would I just choose one and try it a month and then if not successful, try a different one you mentioned? I was initially drawn to the adrenal support idea because I live with much stress. A difficult marriage and watch over my 90 yr old mom. Thanks
should you take both Dim and calcium D- Glucarate ? or one or the another ? @Dr. Eric Berg
Thank you for doing this video again. ❤
Thank you 🙏!
Thanks from SOMALIA
excellent! thanks for the information
You are very welcome.
Acteane is a homeopathic that works for hot flashes and night sweats. How I used it was to take one as soon as I had a flash or night sweat. The heat would dissipate within a few minutes and not come back for hours. It provided a lot of relief, though not perfectly. Overall health improvement using natural means like Dr Berg's healthy ketosis and intermittent fasting is the way to go from my own experiences. I don't really need the acteane anymore - a few years in.
Calcium D blue car eight - haha that’s what the subtitles thought he said. Lol!
😹
Thank you so much!
Wow! What a gold-mine of a video. Well, I'm a guy; no hot flashes yet, but I bet these supplements are good for us too. Specially calcium-d-glucarate might help reduce aromatase blues.
Hi Dr Berg. Regarding the Calcium D Glucarate. Do you reccomend the with or without Bio Perine?

Hi Dr Berg can you do a video on plantbased diet please.
Ugh that’s something I’m not looking forward to 😫 I’m currently pregnant with my second baby and this was a surprise pregnancy. Thank goodness no hot flushes for me yet
At 51 I had my last period. I had only 2 hot flashes. I'm 59 now, and never had them again. I eat very clean. Might have something to with it.
