The first thing I bought with money earned on my paper route in 1962 was a Silvertone transistor radio. I switched it on and the first song I heard on it was "Rhythm of the Rain."
This is the first time I ever heard this beautiful and classic song! Thank you for posting and sharing this! I love it! I always loved the beautiful and classic song Rythm of the Rain by this group!
This song was our favorite of the entire album...my girlfriend an I wore the grooves out in 1964. There are quite a few "very good" cuts on this album that never made one-minute of airtime in the Los Angeles area. I think that John Gummoe should have received a little more acclaim for his writing ability...especially when you consider that his first efforts were penned when he was in the NAVY. Good job, John...your work is STILL appreciated by this "boomer".
Well said and I agree with everything you shared. What a shame that so many of the group's wonderful songs never got the airplay that they so richly deserved other than "Rhythm Of The Rain."
There's a reason for a snowfall A reason why a tree's tall A reason why a star is bright A reason why the moon glows A reason why the wind blows A reason why it's dark at night But I don't know why I should cry Just because you said goodbye There must be a reason I liket o know why Oh why, oh I like to know There's a reason for a sunbeam A reason for a daydream A reason why the desert's dry A reason why a stream falls A reason why there's rainbows A reason for a cloudy sky I'd like to know why There was a time when I could smile We'd sit and talk of us while Times I never got your love And thanked my lucky stars above There must be a reason I'd like to know why (Why, oh why, why I'd like to know) Please tell me why I wanna know why
i remember sitting on a bus in a tiny village in southeast asia.. this played on a scratchy AM radio... i watched as the villagers killed and cooked a dog on a fire. i knew i wasn't home yet.

Brings back beautiful memories. These were the songs played on the radio growing up. A treasure.
Feels great to listen to Cascades songs after 50 + years. It’s refreshing, nostalgic, it’s hard to describe the feeling. 09/01/2019

But I don't know why I should cry

A reason why there's rainbows
A reason for a cloudy sky
I'd like to know why
There was a time when I could smile
We'd sit and talk of us while
Times I never got your love
And thanked my lucky stars above
There must be a reason
I'd like to know why
(Why, oh why, why I'd like to know)
Please tell me why
I wanna know why
