    By mid-July it was time for the final gentle amble up the last bit of the north Coventry canal to Fradley Junction. The main thing of note was how thick the overgrowth was not only on the offside but the towpath side as well - and quite a lot of weeds growing up within the canal itself. I've been told this whole area is earmarked for a good cut back by CRT's volunteer team and you can see it really does neeed it!

    Your channel is my sanity now. Your voice is easy to listen to, never too fast, or too slow. The video moves at the best pace. You are Goldilocks dream. Just right. I have tried to watch some other boating vlogs, in other countries. They move slowly, are burdened with music i don't fancy. I want to see the countryside, the towns, the animals, the glass of the canal, the arches of the bridges.... The weather, the people by the locks or on the tow path You show it just right...and tell what one wants to know. Your humour is so good.

In the film 'The Good, the Bad and the Ugly' starring Clint Eastwood and released in 1966 Arch Stanton 3 February 1862 is on the grave marker where the gold is supposed to be buried. However the gold was actually buried in the next grave marked Unknown.

Car parks, how the "mains card" works (and costs), the current price of fuel, if your cell single works where you are, if there are bugs (and need for screens) and oh you know, just good stuff like some more info onr washing machine. Also, is a Danfoss compressor/fridg/freezer an option and what is your daily amp use? One, none or all is appreciated. Love the VLOG, never fail top open up and enjoy with a "Cuppa". Hi. Some of this is answered on my website FAQ page. I don't intend filming at the shops as they won't appreciate it, it means I'd have to lug the camera along when I'm trying to get my shopping (and when walking back with heavy bags that's the last thing I want) plus the vlog is always going to be about the canals rather than general UK life life shops.

    Hi David! here's a freebee for you, canal boat Jousting, same principals of medieval jousting on horses but instead of a trusty steed you use your floating homes. Got to make this worth the watch so forget about broom handles fixed to the Bow, use half a telegraph pole cut to a point like a giant pencil. You can also add an earlier element of weaponry by adding to the side of your craft some sticky out metal poles to give a bit of Boudica Scythe chariot going on........so what do you think? maybe brainstorm it with your canal boat Vloging buddies to see if it floats their boats......pun intended!

    Last month the waterplants were mowed over here in the Ijselmeer, it was getting annoying and most of the sailboats stayed in because if your prop or keel picks it up you are done. Only thing left to do is dive under the boat and cut it away from the shaft and prop, or wait and let it die off so it drops to the bottom. Talking about engine sound i have a one cylinder too and it sounds so nice. Love the engine sound in the video where one passes your boat. Greets from Holland and keep us updated on your adventures!

    I do enjoy the travelogues very much. But I wonder how popular a "day in the life" video would be? When do you rise? What do you eat? What daily maintenance items do you go thru when moored or before heading out? How long do you warm-up the engine? Do you make a thermos of tea or stop and put on a kettle? How do you go about planning a voyage? Do you check the internet for issues at gates or call ahead? This may sound mundane but the details are sometimes very interesting.

    • @CruisingTheCut
      @CruisingTheCut  Před 4 lety +1

      Yes, I see a lot of dogs jumping in to chase sticks etc, though owners need to understand that an oncoming narrowboat cannot stop quickly or change direction easily so they shouldn't let their dogs jump out when a boat is coming else the dog could get a serious whack, it won't just bob out of the way like a duck can.

We increased the hp to 300 horsepower turning a generator for a pig farm.

    I love the plug, plug, plug of the old motors. Are they the hit send miss type or something else...?

    "opium fields of staffordshire" one of these days I'm not going to be paying proper attention and end up retaining one of your fibs as god's honest truth and regurgitate it at the most inopportune moment

    How come you drive on the left side of the road, but on the right side of the canal?

    You've mentioned not getting around to writing a book on canals and narrowboats. Have you considered not writing fiction such as Murder on the Canals, or Murder Most Narrow?😄

      I am indeed writing my book but it’s non fiction. There are lots of canal murder mysteries already.

    If I was narrow boating, I would like to explore the towns and villages along the route by bicycle. Can you just dock along the canals and do this without a struggle? Just going down the canals without exploring the surroundings areas seem dull after a bit.

    I do think that people that have high blood pressure should think of a week or two narrowboating?

    David, Thanks for sharing your adventure. It's very peaceful and relaxing to watch your videos. I live in Minnesota and like to look up the locations on google maps to see where you are visiting. Makes me want to come over and try it out for a week or two. Have a good day!
