Pay It Forward: Feat. Luke Cryer

- Luke Cryer defines style at speed. He came from the world of gate starts and elbows, even winning a silver and bronze medal at the 4X World Championships (2015 and 2016 respectively). But while the motive of competition set him up with skills and speed the pressures pushed him to look beyond the track. Now it’s the thrill of pitching himself against himself that holds most worth.
In 2020 he was looking for a new bike and hit up Josh “Loose Dog” Lewis, seeing if he had any leads on something brand new second-hand. Loose Dog lives the mantra of “pay it forward” and has been passing along his old bikes to friends and helping talented friends get setup with bikes through his sponsors for a while. Santa Cruz had sent another super skillful UK rider (Matt Roe) a bike the year before but a sponsor swap meant this bike (a third-generation 5010) wasn’t being used. So it became Luke’s.
It’s good to get something new but if a bike is built to last then there’s no reason it can’t have many lives. Santa Cruz builds quality bikes that can take a beating and kept running for many lifetimes.
Luke's also an artist on his Jackal 🔥 • Jackal - A Lap Around ...

I’ll never forget meeting Luke for the first time, when I was at Dirt School and he was a rider on the BASE College Course. He was just buzzing to ride and I remember him tearing the Glentress ‘danger zone’ Freeride to pieces. Just so much style, and somehow aggressive and effortless all at once!
Everyone remembers the first time they met Luke. My intro was Les Gets 2017. Fucker had hit Vink line the day before with no chain. Stayed in a chalet with him his ma and pa for the week before he flew out to worlds 4X. I had a cracking great time that week despite a few mechanicals. I need more of that in my life right now. Ace edit lad good to see your doing okay even without much motivation. I sure you’ll get back to where you were.
Luke’s such a sick rider and such a nice guy whenever I’ve bumped into him at the local. Got time for everyone!!

it's not "pay it forward", it's sponsorship.
Paying it forward would be helping him out and making no mention of it - not posting a 4 minute video on your channel with 220k subscribers.
Small companies helping a youth rider afford a bike or lending a vehicle and covering travel expenses so a privateer can travel to a race and expecting nothing in return - that's paying it forward.
hi.
🤘
Why you use the old 5010?
Still a very cool bike in 2021
