  • My 2005 Dodge Ram 2500 5.9 Cummins Speed Sensor went out. The symptoms were no speedometer, brake and ABS light came on. Here may be your fix. While trying to pry out the old speed sensor, it snapped, so be careful.

    Thank you for the vid. I just changed my sensor, and the cap broke off, just like yours. Had i not seen your video befire hand, i probably would've had a panic moment

      Glad it helped, I know when I changed mine I panicked at first but was relieved when it came out easy.

    I have similar issues with my 01 Dodge Dakota. I have brake+abs light spedometer rarely works and I have a little bit of rough shifting. I scaned it and saw a P0500 with relates to a vehicle speed sensor. I replaced the sensor on the rear differential (It was all rusty and i broke the sensor at first) I had dove it briefly with no sensor pluged in and my rough shifting was gone(still no speedo) I replaced the sensor correctly and the rough shifting is back

      @LHHomestead  Před rokem

      On my dodge there are two speed sensors, one on the transmission and one on the rear differential. I had a weird shifting problem before the brake and abs light problem. (I had another video on that). What fixed my bad shifting was replacing the sensor on the transmission. I don't know about the dodge Dakotas but if it has a speed sensor on the transmission maybe replacing that will fix it.

    Hey man does ur oil pan have a dent in it looking at oil pressure is that normal and my air bag light goes off by it self over night after it turns on or after it turns on if you keep driving it will just go off idk what it is

    • @LHHomestead
      @LHHomestead  Před rokem

      Not sure if there is a dent in my oil pan. Do you have one in yours? If so where is it at. I have a few little electrical issues and I wonder if it can be from a loose ground. the negative terminal on my battery posts do not tighten and I can easily pull the connection off without a wrench. By chance is yours like that?

    So I did the same thing with the speed sensor but I accidentally pushed it all the way through will this damage my rear axle?

    • @LHHomestead
      @LHHomestead  Před 6 měsíci

      I am not sure if it would damage anything as it is plastic, (I am assuming the plastic cap is what you pushed through) but I would recommend taking the axle cover off and getting it out. If you pushed it through it should be easy to locate.

    Pull the rear diff cover, drain your diff fluid, and check the magnet in the bottom of your rear diff for metal filings or debris. You're c-clips are likely wearing and messing with the speed sensor as it generates a magnetic pulse. Good luck.

    My speedometer works bit abs and brake tight turns on every so often. Do you think getting a new speed sensor will get rid of it?

    • @LHHomestead
      @LHHomestead  Před 5 měsíci

      Before replacing the sensor, I would try cleaning the connection and add some dialectical grease to it. Maybe its got some corrosion that is causing it to come on intermittently.

    • @LHHomestead
      @LHHomestead  Před 5 měsíci

      Also, not sure what year dodge you have. Mine is a 2005 and it has sensors at the wheels, you can check those connections as well if you have them.

    mine did this and it was a fuse. cant recall exact one but its the only one that is in that special case inside the fuse box. youll know what im talking about it has an aditional clip you have to pry off to replace fuse . i also replaced all "spare" fuses . read the info on a forum in autzone parking lot and replaced that fuse and spare fuses and my dash and everything worked again

    I have the abs and brake light on and no speedometer on my 04 ram, i have replaced the sensor on the real axle twice and i have 2 speed sensors on the transmission that i have changed once each. If i plug the sensor up on the rear end nothings changes except rarely and randomly my speedometer will act like it wants to work and the truck will shift weird and then it quits again. I have also changed both front wheel bearings, only one has a speed sensor and I still have lights and no speedometer!

    • @LHHomestead
      @LHHomestead  Před 6 měsíci

      Interesting, wonder why a pot hole would cause that to come on. Maybe one of the connections on the sensors came loose.
