Any Time dude, and thanks so much for the SuperThanks!!
@@A_Honchour server kicked me for no reason.
another pro tip is composure and manners. people tend to listen and take you seriously if you always keep calm and use a healthy dose of manners. panicky voices over comms gets super annoying sometimes too.
Great point!
yep!! this is true
Yeah I tend to block out all the panick yelling lol
Oh yeah I hate when people in war Sim sound panicked as if they could literally die
You can and you will. Go play CoD , even worse than dying , you're wasting my time. 2k hr sql main. @dumpstersenpai2658 play with a little gumption and sense of urgency please. Worse than a panicked SQL , is the apathetic stoner that " Doesn't care what you do and have fun "
1:54 NOTE: A logi driver or heli pilot counts as the 1 extra person to place a FOB radio *EVEN IF THEY ARE IN THE DRIVER/PILOT SEAT*
In other words, you only need yourself sporting an infantry SL kit to place a radio from a hovering heli.
Also I wish more squad leads would practice the art of hot zone low pass radios. Get in position, have your radio ready to place (showing the red outline), then call for a heli low pass.
A good heli pilot can skim above your position below the 30m mark and give you 1.5sec window in which you can place the radio without having to risk a heli hover.
Then the heli is free to sneak supplies in at whichever edge of the FOB perimeter that they think is least risky.
Too often SLs are stuck in the, "you must hover directly above me for a solid 60 sec while I hunt the best building to place my radio" mindset.
Mate thisss!!!! 😂😂😂😂 should’ve just called a logi if you not sure where you gonna place a radio
As someone who has played alot of Squad, I just wanna add a tip. Your Fireteam leaders (FTL) can promote anyone in their Fireteam to FTL.
This can be useful if someone that is not you the SL or one of your FTL’s see something like a tank. Then the FTL can give the FTL to the one that sees the tank. It works just like how the squad leader assign fireteams.
Oh man I totally forgot about that! Great point!
This plus if you’re going to ask for ftl. Please say something like ‘please give me fireteam lead’
So many times I’ll hear ‘give me ftl’ over and over because they’re impatient and SL is getting cluttered on cmd chat
@@caolkyle always ask for Charlie, because if SL rage quits or DC's, bravo inherits the squad!
Another good thing to note on FTL is that they can place buildables. I'm fairly new to Squad, but I learned this today and I haven't seen anyone talk about it.
I just got off Dead on Dismount and searched how to Squad Lead (im usually driver in Armor or Heli pilot). DoD is quite frankly, so far, my absolute favorite Squad server. Its always been extremely fun and people are quite friendly, lighthearted, and patient. So coming upon this video is an absolute treat. I suck at infantry but sometimes I want to Squad Lead to perhaps bring something new to the table but i also want to ensure i do OK. So I not only want to say thank you for this video but for creating such a great gaming environment. I hope DoD never changes and that people stay awesome!
Comments like this is exactly why I'm glad I started DoD!
That insurgance tip where you can buddy rally is a real game changer, and the two fobs per radio.. badass
It's crazy how few people know about these features
Brother, what is buddy rally??
While you're on the insurgents, if you're a squad leader, you can place a rally on another squads rally from the death screen on the map, that's huge
@@anjrewsiffransico3550 that is absolutely insane. Just right click on co-squad's rally while in deployment menu?
@@anthonygauthier7360 yep only for insurgents as far as I know
i have 1000+ hours in Squad and i love videos like this, i enjoy relearning some stuff too, just in case i forget certain mechanics. More people should try to learn to squad lead because it can be very immersive at times.
It's amazing how much a quick refresher can help
@@A_Honchofor real!!
I literily just got off your server and accidently found your channel here on youtube. Its already on my favorites list in Squad
Awesome!
the biggest thing i struggle with as a new SL is knowing when to defend and when to attack. at what point is it okay to leave the defense and how can you make the downtime of waiting for an attack more interesting for your squad
Don't leave defence untill the objective ahead of you is fully capped, under control and they have a HAB set up on it
Just started playing Squad today....and Dead on Dismount was the server i spent my first 4 rounds on. So much to learn but enjoyed every second of it.
That's awesome to hear bud! Hope you had a great first night
Intro had me dying, wide variety of topics, straight and to the point, fun commentary, lots of info. Very solid M8.
Cheers mate. This is probably my best put together guide but for some reason CZcams won't show it to the right audience 🤔
Pro-tip: Dont place a radio where there isnt an obj unless it is a specific hab like mortar support or a repair station. So many ppl i see going to the middle of the map and placing a radio before the first two obj's have been captured and then getting wiped and losing that radio to light armor/inf. Wait til the area is secured and idealy until you know the obj will be there.
Absolutely
In your opinion, what is the best, put down radio/ build a HAB within the objective or not far from the objective??
And is it ok if I a little bit talkative to other squad to move the logi away from the radio??
Great guide. I have 200 hours in game and 150 as SL but still learning new stuff.
Sling from 50 hours in?
Absolute Chad!
Yea 50 hrs ain't enuf time to be a reliable effective sl
Thanks for video. This is very helpful stuff! I've got less than 100hrs but have started picking up SL simply because no one else will. At least people are able to play, even if they do not have an experienced SL. I have found that naming my squad SL TRAINEE makes it to where I don't have to explain why I don't know what I'm doing, lol.
Keep up the good work dude!
never play online games like this one if you don't have MICROPHONE
A modern guide for the modern man.
1.5k hours how the fuck have i never thought of using a repair to mask the sound of the radio 🤯🤯
All about thinking out side of the box
This intro killed me XD. Excellent vid!
Thanks dude
there's the need for more vids like this one, amazing job!
I do my best!
Also here is a tip whilst hunting radios
Use your gut feeling!
It sounds stupid but think about it!
The enemy would put the Radio in a safe spot for them so you dont find it
Its all about the intuition (and some experience)
Absolutely!
Other day I was searching for it in houses finally found in a poppy field 😂
im so excited about the radio placement video
watched your other SL video and this one, I am a NEW SL lol. Your video was great, thanks!
Awesome!
I think it is necessary to say that even though the best way to get a precise tactical request while on foot is looking through binocs, you aren't forced to use them as some people think, this means you can call for artillery or airstrikes while looking from the optics of a vehicle without having to get out as some people do
100%
Arrow keys when placing a hab is news to me lol
I'm 0 years old knowing this, no lies
@@jcnruad5810 a promising infant infantry 🫡
Im an OG squad player. A long time ago i realised i dont have the brain to play SL. I took a year or two break and come back to find squad leaders that even talk is rare so i guess ill pick up the torch
Great concise guide mate!
Thanks bud!
great video
really good points !
THanks bud!
Wow you found 13k radios ? 📻 gratz!
Nice one Honcho. Had some v poor games recently, and this deffo helps. Folks, remember, talk to each other. It helps.
Theres been a HUGE influx of New Players recently!
As a 300h ish squad player, it's quite often the original SL disconnected and me became SL.
I have no problem with putting down any structures, but baby sitting other team mate? That's another story for me.....
Great video.. I’m 250 hours into squad and STILL nervous to make the jump to SL
Just go for it bud!
I just like the scorpion smg 😂
Holy cow I had no idea about INS buddy rallies
👁👄👁
I got promoted to squad leader in game and had no idea how to change to squad lead. So I just wound up leaving the game.
please make an Anti Tank guide video! i love playing AT but knowing which rockets to use on what vehicles, how many rounds it would take to destroy one, where to aim for. knowing this would be amazing
I will be making one soon. I knew a few changers were on the horizon and they have gone through.
It'll be up in a week or 2!

@@A_Honcho I look forward to it 👍🏼
This video substitutes hundreds of hours of trial and error as Sl
We can all bypass the "Headless chicken" doctrine now
One thing I never see addressed, why put squad members in fireteams? I understand fireteam leaders purpose to help build and spot, but I don't see any purpose to assign other members to fireteams.
Can do a few things with them
You can get Bravo and Charlie to attack from different directions
If you put 2 or more people in a fire team, they can actually pass Fire team lead to each other to mark or build things
@A_Honcho good point!
Need squad asap
Very good video from someone with 90 hours
You'll end up like me with over 3000 before you know it 👀
6000+ here and still make mistakes myself lol
I have 6K hours. Excellent tips.
Thanks bud

Lmao your server perma banned me for asking who’s driving this logi. And I got banned for toxicity . Super good server
What's your Steam name or Steam ID?
@@A_Honcho Bunionboi
You're not even banned you melt.
You joined, played for 1 hour. TKd someone then left.
Theres no ban, kick or even warn on you.
You sure you haven't been baned somewhere else?
Yea I looked you up. You're banned on Xpats for toxicity.
I constantly see experienced squad leaders dropping radios out in the open and habs in wide view of major roads and what not, very annoying. Also why does everyone put habs over 200m away from obj? waste of time running into the point to get killed before you can defend, put habs on obj just hide them better.
A hab directly on an objective can easily be overran just by enemies being in the area - they might not even know you have a hab but 9 people will have a hab overran from 90m away
The "conventional wisdom" is to place HABs off obj so that you don't lose the obj and the HAB at the same time. The thinking is that since one enemy squad can proxy your HAB from 90m away, as enemies approach the obj, your HAB goes down and you end up losing both the HAB and the obj.
In practice though, putting a HAB directly on your defensive point can be the better option as long as:
*it's in cover and protected from airstrikes
*it has multiple exits, so that a single enemy vic can't fishbowl you inside of the HAB
*it's being defended
*backup rallies are placed
It’s funny that hiding the radio is encouraged when in reality putting a radio inside a building would significantly reduce the radios effectiveness
first!
