I knew Mark's trainer George Carter. George was at one time the middle weight champion of Japan. George thought Barry was stronger than usual in that fight and mentions it at the end in an interview. George was really a cool guy. I was apuainted with Mark as I met him at Arvada Jabbers Boxing club in the '70's.

My trainer knows Barry, he was going to come in to train me and some of the other fellas at my gym but sadly couldn't make it. He is an absolute legend and fantastic boxer as well as body worker!!

Early days of the IBF and if we are honest, very exciting fights, but nobody is comparing Hwan Kil Yuh and Barry Michael and Lester Ellis to the likes of Chavez and Nelson and Brian Mitchell..etc. An example of when world titles began to get diluted. Lockridge exposed Michael. A good honest journeyman. But what we are witnessing in this era are OPBF title fights. Nothing more. Nothing less. Great fights but short of genuine world class.
