- I take off on a trip into the remote valleys of the South Island with Dean to fish the most spectacular river I may have ever set eyes on. This trip was as much about just being there, more than just catching fish. Water so clear that it doesn't even look like it there and scenery that you know hasn't changed since it was formed!

The scenery and water clarity is next level. Takes your breath away. The trout that drifted into the background at 14’20” was a behemoth and the Whio flying through at 23’ made it even more special. I’ve watched this twice already. What an epic video. Loving it. Thanks Alex.

Beautiful river, the water clarity is something else. Reminds me of another balloted river a few mountain ranges away that I haven’t seen you fish yet… loving this series of a rare SI summer before the hordes descend again. In a place like that, it would be captivating to simply capture more of the ambience and natural sounds of the raw experience without the constant interruption of artificial background music, particularly when playing fish. To try keep the fishing pressure down and make sure that anglers don’t bump into other parties when they are on the river

Amazing spot indeed! Fishing is pretty much secondary in a place so heavenly right! I was camped the same spot in Feb 🔥but had a tough run chasing browns after a few groups pressured the space in the days before I had my ballot. The gorge you hike up past - is that above the weir on the branch above camp, or on the trib downstream?
