A real family company
Tulip Experience Amsterdam was founded at the end of 2019 by onion grower Simon Pennings.
This was partly a response to the growing tourism in the Onion Region and the growing pressure on the onion fields (farmlands) there.
Simon and other growers suffered significant damage to their tulip fields every year. He also noticed that visitors had a strong desire not only to take beautiful photographs, but also to understand the history of tulips and the work involved in growing bulbs. And with that, the idea of ​​the Tulip Experience was born.
Our mission
The growing number of tourists in the Onion region and the contemporary selfie culture have affected the fragile onion fields in recent years.
Visitors to the region often casually wander the fields looking for the perfect shot. They are often unaware that growers are using the fields to grow their precious tulips to grow onions. The fields will eventually be destroyed when people jump over the lines or even go straight through the fields! We want to inform visitors about this and give them the opportunity to take a perfect shot without damaging the precious fields. Our specially designed selfie/show garden offers endless opportunities to take beautiful photos among hundreds of thousands of tulips or from one of the special photo opportunities.
Our mission and passion is to share knowledge about tulip cultivation in a unique environment that combines education and experience, all with the aim of increasing the awareness of the greatest Dutch icon. Because we are proud of the onion growing profession, the Onion region and tulips!
