I fish highschool and had a really rough tournament yesterday but watching this video reminded me that it happens to the best too! Win or lose, I'll always be a fan of the Martin family. You have the instincts and you know what to do, so I'll just say this, don't rely on the live target and electronics so much. I'm afraid a lot of skills will be lost because people are going to become too dependent on the electronics. We've caught big fish for years without it. It's cool to see a fish moving and then catch it, but lets face it. The biggest fish tend to be the laziest fish and don't move around as much. They may find their favorite spot and just sit there, and never be seen on live target. So trust yourself and the internal instincts. Don't get tunnel vision. You got this Scott! Good luck at the next one!

That first days fishing was a great watch,you were on it ! It's a double edged sword being a local angler, you are expected to have places the other guys don't but on this occasion i couldn't believe how small the place appeared to fish.
Even in other tournaments i saw people fishing,moving around in the same areas and Tyler Rivet excepted (i don't see that happening very often in the future but you never know) everyone was in the same areas catching much the same fish.

Scott enjoy your videos and honesty. If I catch two bass on the lake I feel like I accomplished something. There have been times lately I drive an hour to lake and catch nothing.
Honestly, I would've thought the same thing about being patient. I don't put myself into your class of fisherman, but I've fished the Big O for over 50 years, and that's how she is. The fish move in patterns where your hot in the action one minute, then they seem to disappear for a couple hours, then bam, back again. I fish the north shore pretty much all the time, having a place in Moore Haven, but I love the cover there over the south side not knowing where to fish. Love ya'll ❤️, always doing your best.
If you never win another event again I will always remember that first day at Okeechobee in my heart and mind for ever Scott that's one of the most special days I've ever seen you have! But we all know that's not the last in fact there's many more to come!

Love your channel I guess you gotta weigh your options To weigh some fish especially in a tournament where you have to compete you have to use your strategies and be strategic in the key areas overall I would say you made the right decisions you’ll get them next time
Your gonna have goood days and bad days. It's fishing. Still gonna support you win or loose. Everything will come together for you sooner than later. Got to stay on top of the live scoping.
9 times out of 10 I've watched Rolland roll in on a community hole and out catch everyone there even when he was the last one too the hole it's crazy I have no idea how he did it I guess it was luck or magic damn if I know but it was fun to watch over all them years!

That's still a good finish, I'm sure its disappointing after that amazing day one. Going back and finding out what went wrong and what decisions you could have made better is how you improve. Sometimes you do everything right and the bass just don't cooperate.

I was fishing a tournament on Kentucky lake. The first day I led the pack with 25 pounds and something, five fish limit. The next day I went back, nothing. It was late when I finally moved out to just a little deeper water. Immediately I lost two big bass before putting one in the live well. Just my hypothesis, some how those fish became spooked and moved out to deeper water. I think it is perhaps the noise made by alot of boat traffic. But, hey you are still living the dream. I wish you and Hilary my best.
How is Lake Kentucky now? I haven’t seen any big tournaments there for a long time.

Hey, one never knows when it comes to bass fishing. Just keep trying Scott. You have the talent and the expeirense. We are your fans and have been for years. What happened to you and Ranger? Did Johnny Morris and White River Marine Group have something to do with the move to Skeeter? We still talk about it. A lot of pros left Ranger and I don't know why.

Was hoping that you were going to touch in this but curious what your thoughts are on Rivet winning it up in the river? Have you ever seen someone do well up there? Obviously, FFS changes how guys can find those fish but you def don't think jerkbait when fishing the Big O. Keep on grinding, man. Put these first two behind you and try an win a Classic. I also don’t have enough money to go and get a bass boat because im 15 and saving for my first truck. I do catfish tournaments and I think everyone has regrets after a tournament but you don’t think the same during a tournament as you do after the fact

You over thought it cleaned all the giants on day one you shouldve found another spot till day 2 then three but you learn from mistakes and move on but next time grid harder. Good luck
The lake has been sprayed to death. Pelican, Hayfields, and East Wall are all but gone and down south is constantly a zoo in all of the same places. Rivet had the right idea finding an off the wall pattern that held up to the conditions. The worst part about BASS and MLF being here is the lack of attention brought to the spraying. Tired of all the Hurricane and high water BS. Applied Aquatics is conveniently back at it in full force. The outsides of your hidden honey hole are straight mud. The lake breaks my damn heart every time I visit knowing what it all used to look like. Please don't stop all your hard work with AFLO. Your home needs you now more than ever.
Look at it this way. This is just a minor setback for a major comeback . Focus on what is next don't worry about gas already happened you don't want it to cause you to not focus on Seminole

There should be ZERO tournaments ANYWHERE until AFTER the BASS SPAWN..

Next time do more prep 🤨 yes its your home lake but you know the lake is not what it use to be, the water is dirty more than ever and you will run all over the lake looking for clean water and that it shelf will take a week or better 😳 good luck this year on the trail.

Again, your break down is very informative. I don’t fish tournaments any longer. The internal tips on the attitude of the fish are very helpful. I will try a change up the next time I am overloaded with the bucks!

I know you have to work with these guys basically half the year…but if money like that is on the line…I’m not staying out of any spots just because someone is fishing it. It’s not like you’re just out fishing and trying to give recreational anglers their water.

So where do you this sport going with intense pressure from people beating these lakes up?? This can't be good for the future of the sport or just fishing in general. Where's the breaking point...... Do we literally kill these lakes to realize we screwed up? Also I don't understand why pros won't say anything about this, or shy away from the hard questions. These green fish are literally the only reason you have a job and the rest of pros. How can we protect our lakes.
They should weigh them on the boat and put them back. Some leagues do that but not the bass master series
