    Can you imagine being one of the first investors in Google, Facebook, Amazon, or Microsoft?! 🤯
    According to Jeff Bezos, the Founder and CEO of Amazon, the first 20 or so outside investors put in around $50,000 apiece for a stake of a little less than 1% of the company at the time. If those early investors had held on to their entire stakes, and those stakes had never been diluted by later investors, they would be $3.5 billion today - a return of 70,000x!
    **What is an Angel Investor?**
    An individual who provides capital to an early stage company, usually the first outside investment to support the entrepreneur grow their business. This investment decision can be fueled by one of three main ways: 1) to support the entrepreneur, 2) solve the problem the business is solving, 3) make a financial return. Ideally all three of these come into play when making an angel investment.
    **Why I'm Making Angel Investments?**
    1) I believe in the American dream and the power of entrepreneurship to create global impact.
    2) Angel investing is one way to support and give back to the entrepreneurial ecosystem.
    3) Rare opportunity to invest in an alternative asset class.

    • @fksebati
      @fksebati  Před 2 lety +2

      Fantastic question! Companies that are raising money online will have 2-3 tings (at a minimum available) including: 1) A pitch deck that overviews the business, 2) If they're doing Regulation Crowdfunding, you can see their Form C filed, 3) A one-pager/website that lists the following: Problem they're solving, solution, market sizing, finances, team, competition.

    Plants free of water deficit events more efficiently absorb available plant nutrients enabling plants to achieve their maximum genetic potential. SWRT membranes installed below plant rootsystems retain water where it falls, providing continuous delivery of drought-free periods up to 3 times longer than intensely irrigated control sands without root zone water retention membranes (Guber et al, 2016).

  • @yamamamama6219
    @yamamamama6219 Před 3 lety +1

    Quick question. If I invest in a company 100$ and the shares are valued at .46 cents . If it goes public and get bought out will my share price go up? Do I have to sell my shares and are they gonna pay me the value .46 cents per share when I first bought it or different?

    • @fksebati
      @fksebati  Před 3 lety +3

      Great question! Most likely you won't have control over this outcome. If the company is acquired for cash post investment, then depending on the terms of the deal, you could be paid out in cash. This would be considered a capital gain (tax-wise) if the acquisition price was higher than the investment. In your example, if the acquisition price was $1/share and you invested at $0.46/share, then your appreciation is the difference ($0.54/share) and that appreciation what you would be taxed on. In that example, you would get the $1/share as a payout. In the case of an IPO, most likely, the share will simply convert to the public market and you would not be forced to sell. This is simplified, but hopefully it gives an idea how it could work.

    Where do you get the contracts when becoming an Angel investor?

    • @fksebati
      @fksebati  Před rokem +2

      Good question. Most likely the startup will have a contract for you to sign rather than you producing the investment contract. The only time the investor will bring forward the contract is if they've done this dozens of times and/or they're leading the round. Similarly if it's a venture capital fund, they will use their own contracts.

    If i invest in a startup and lets say I get 10% equity do I have to give up some of that equity when the startup is rasing funds again or do I keep the 10%?

    • @fksebati
      @fksebati  Před rokem +1

      Great question! You are correct, if and when the startup raises more funding, most of the time the overall pie of shares gets bigger and initial shareholders are diluted. This is where Pro Rata Rights come in. This gives the investor the right to maintain their ownership position in future rounds by continuing to invest at the terms of the new funding round. This normally is only granted to major investors who are contributing a relatively large investment and/or have the ability to continue to invest much more capital in the future.
