- Are you shy and nervous about filming a street without creating attention to what you are doing? In this video I am going to show you how to film street scene unobtrusively with the DJI Pocket 2. It's an amazing little camera and very tiny, so perfect for those who are shy and feel self-conscious about bringing unnecessary extra attention. It fits into the palm of the hand and not so obvious. Learn a couple of different ways to hold the camera so that it is even less obvious to the passer by. Enjoy and subscribe if you like these types of tutorials.

Hey, have these tips work for you? How do you use the Pocket 2 to film streets and make walking videos, share your thoughts and let's learn together!
Method that works for me is, holding it around 45% to 50% angle like how most people would look at a mobile phone while walking. I found it to be really effective because most people think you are actually looking at your mobile phone or some gadget and not recording them.
Hi - thanks for the comment. That's also a great suggestion and still possible to view the screen -. I will definitely try that out next time!
lol love your tip on what to do when getting caught! :D
Yeah I jog or walk with it horizontally like that when people are nearby. The tilt/horizon lock makes it easy to keep it level. I also loosen some of my fingers' grip on it (so it doesn't look like I'm "aiming it") and deliberately look at something on the opposite side of the trail/street. It's funny trying to "disguise" my use of the Pocket 2 and I probably break into a grin, which further distracts from the camera. ("Hey, why's that weirdo smiling to himself?") Also I'm always listening to podcasts while I film (else I get bored) and I think the headphones further emphasise the "in his own little world" impression. It's so much easier to film discretely with the Pocket 2 than, say, a GoPro... or especially a GoPro on a gimbal which is very attention-grabbing! Anyway, as always it's neat to see your tips, and I like your Geiger counter imitation! :)
Hi! Thanks very much for your description of how you use your Pocket 2 on the streets. It's always great to hear variations and I really like your vivid description and I quite imagine what that would look like. Very entertaining to read! Thanks for contributing!
Many thanks for this video. Only discovered the DJI 2 yesterday and am waiting to start using mine as soon as it arrives. Super helpful video. Subscribed. Nick
Hi Nick, that's great you have picked up a Pocket 2, you will enjoy it, it's a fab little camera! Of course, I'm here to help as I can, so if you have any questions when using it, drop a comment and I will try and help out either with a reply or a video. Thanks for subscribing to my little tiny channel, always appreciated! 😀
Thank you for some great tips and tricks!
Hi - you are most welcome, thanks for stopping by!
I stumbled upon this video, and it’s so helpful. I think holding it horizontally at my side would look most natural. I don’t have this camera yet, and am waiting for the Pocket 3 to be launched. I’m actually trying to find tutorials on how to use the Pocket camera WITHOUT using the Mimo app. I’m an amateur and not tech-savvy, so I’m hoping I can manage all the settings easily on the camera itself, instead of having to remember the different settings on the camera as well s as the app. Do you have such a tutorial? I even struggled with learning to use the OM5 gimble and have given up on it 😅
Hi Corrine, thanks so much for this detailed comment and for your experiences. Yes I would wait for the Pocket 3 as it's going to be here soon, but all the Pocket 2 tutorials on my channel and others will be valid for the new camera as well (or should be unless they radically change things!)
For sure the Pocket can be used without the Mimo app, and I often use it that way particularly when too lazy to connect the phone, so you can manage the settings on the Pocket 2 itself without the phone. The screen is a little fiddly on the Pocket 2, but the Pocket 3 should be bigger so that will help. I do have some tutorials on the Pocket 2 in terms of the buttons - a whole playlist czcams.com/video/GFZkY57x4qQ/video.html&pp=gAQBiAQB with a number of videos, so hopefully these will help, including an explanation of the buttons and the modes etc. A video on the walkthrough of the setting for beginners would be a good idea, so I'll make one though will probably be after the Pocket 3 comes out so that it's up to date. I'll also look to make some videos on the OM gimbal as it's tricky to get to grips with indeed so hopefully you'll give that a go again one day. Best wishes, Tim
@@4T-Tech I appreciate your detailed response! So good to know that the camera can be operated without the app. I will check out your videos on the Pocket 2 first, and look forward to the upcoming Pocket 3 versions. I do hope they launch it quickly because I have some travels coming up which I’d like to vlog, and would need time to familiarise with the camera before I go. Thanks again! By the way, I subscribed. I’m a content creator myself - albeit a small one - but I encourage you to continue what you’re doing and YOU ARE DOING GREAT! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
@@joyLoveC Hi thanks so much again for your comment and encouragement. It's not easy for us tiny channels to get any traction in this vast youtube world so can be often disheartening, so thanks for the support and I wish success for your youtube journey and channel! Keep going as well, your channel is growing! Best wishes, Tim
Good video. Will you be getting and reviewing the pocket 3 ? I understand it will be available in the next week or 2
Hi, thanks for the comment. Yes, I'm pretty sure I will be very tempted to get it the Pocket 3 as I love the Pocket 2. I better start budgeting for it now 😀
I am learning on how to get better in making travel videos & i am sure these tips will help me a lot, thanks a lot Sir👍🏻
Hi - thanks very much for watching, and very pleased it has helped you out. There will be more videos about travelling down the line
I had the same idea yesterday :) i will be practising soon!
Great!
Have you tried the backpack strap for it? Wondering how that works recording walking
Hi - yes I did try a backpack strap which is an alternative as at least it frees up the hands for other uses. It was fairly hidden if the backpack was matching black straps, but if the strap was 😀any other color the Pocket2 stood out even more
Hi, do you have any plans to discuss post-processing (especially color correction) with the Pocket 2 (and GoPro)? I'd love to hear your tips on how you go from raw footage to something like your Pocket 2 cinematic demo!
Hi yes I do have some plans to launch more cinematic tutorials for Pocket 2 / GoPro in the future, in particular gimbal moves, which modes when, color grading, exposure control etc, so stay tuned for those! Incidentally in that particular Pocket 2 demo, that was filmed in the normal color mode but with anamorphic lens (mostly) so why it looks like it was graded. Also much manual exposure to force sun flares etc. If these tutorials would be useful then I'll add them to the video plan!
Thanks for the tips. Would like to try it but i always felt it would make me look creepy
Hi - really you would never look as creepy as me! 😀 Actually, people really don't seem to notice the Pocket 2 when held horizontally as people don't seem to register it's a camera. Give it a go, I think you'll be relieved how no-one will pay any attention to it
Thanks
Hi, thanks for watching!
good Vlog
Hi - thanks very much for your watching and comment
is this method worked in dji pocket 1 too?
Sure, I pretty sure it'll be the same on the Pocket 1 as well
Carrying it in your shirt's pocket could be also an option, have you tried to see how it goes ? Thanks !
I'm with this guy, just wear it. I'd slip it in my cleavage but everyone looks there... =(
Hi - I have tried in the past but I found the footage was more shaky probably being closer to the body. Also it kept sliding around in the pocket - maybe my pockets were too loose, but perhaps tighter pockets might be more succesful. I was also worried I might bend over forgetting it was there and it falling out. I get distracted easily!
Good comment @annieorphananie4946, that's funny 😀
thank you for inf. how much this is ?
Hi - do you mean the Pocket 2? It's on discount now because of the Pocket 3, around £300 I think
@@4T-Tech thank you
Most people these days think you are holding a vape. Just hold it in front of you, about belly button height at about 45 degrees.
Ha, very true 😆
Do you ever get an arm ache when constantly holding the camera at an unnatural angle?
Hi - well actually I find it more comfortable holding it horizontal rather than vertical, due to it's lightness. I've not seen anyone look across giving a hoot what I'm doing, probably think it's a phone
Good video... But.... You could have mentioned the mode you're shooting in.
Hi - for this video, the mode was default Follow mode and automatic settings.
No offense man, but this is discouraging me from getting this camera. The way you walk at about the 2 minute mark, like a statue or something, serious face, keeping forward, walking with arms not moving, holding out the little black camera like it's a knife or something. Or sitting on the bench, with sunglasses like that, it's too secretive looking or something. I'm sure I don't look the most natural when I film either, unable to swing my arm when I'm holding a camera, but it doesn't exactly look natural discrete in this video. Maybe there is a way to make it look more natural or more something. That said, still good tips on how to hold it and stuff, so that is helpful! Thanks and again no offense, but honestly it's not the most hey happy, blending in, natural look in the video with that walk or disguise.
Hi - lol yes no offense taken. I do look like creepy with the camera for sure. Don't blame the camera though, that's more my creepy look fault than the camera. A better way of looking less dodgy is to just mount the camera on to a shoulder or chest harness and not have it in the hand, that might look better - a bit like the police do. However, I think the Go3 is really the most discrete camera out of them all. Thanks, Tim
@@4T-Tech Thanks a lot Tim, I appreciate that. You look like a good lad, so it's not that. Probably just lack of swinging arms and stuff which is probably unavoidable when filming a bit. Thanks for your pointers! I actually ended up buying one! So now I'll see how I look walking down the street lol. But better to film than let the opportunity pass. People will see us walk for a moment so even if some notice and think it looks a certain way, it's worth it to get the shot
@@4T-Techyes go 3 is good in these types of videos but the quality and in low light is very weak
And this is one of the important things i have problem and doubt with it
I don’t know what should i buy between osmo pocket 3 and go 3 for my walking tour videos
Help me please
@@TRex-dd4ze Hi - it's probably just me concentrating too hard trying to keep a steady shot keeping the arms straight. To be honest I look like a freak most of the time with or without a camera, so if anyone sees me, it's the first and last time I see them so gone beyond caring too much 🙂 Though really I don't think anyone really notices or cares as they are too busy getting on with their day! Certainly not missing the opportunity is far more important than caring what others think! Good luck with the camera and enjoy it!
@@Travelwithzr Hi - indeed the Go3 is not good in low light at all. Hold off any choices till the 13th June as I think the Go4 is being released with 4K, though I'm not sure how good it will be in low light - perhaps it will be great (or not). The Pocket 3 is best for low light without a doubt, if that's important though it's not so discrete as Pocket 2 or Go3 as bigger. It's not massive so still quite discrete compared to a phone or other camera though. The Pocket 2 is good 4K and ok in low light (not as good as Pocket 3, but better than Go3).
