Watching this specific Noel's video, him travelling with his wife, Noel earned much more respect from my side! It's so touchy when we see a married couple with its members loving and supporting each other, staying together for very many years despite the adversities...And kudos to Noel's wife for raising their kids while Noel was busy flying those "russian roulette" or "luxury class" flights!

One flight with AA was enough to ensure I'd never make that mistake again. They were shockingly rude. First the male attendant in my section refused to put my bag in the overhead despite the fact that I had my arm in a sling. Another kindpassenger was kind enough to do it for me and also got it down when it was time to de-plane.
Then a man went to the restroom and the female attendant told him in a tone dripping with condescension that the seatbelt light was on. He said he knew but he had to go. She told him "If we hit turbulence and you crack your skull open that's on you!", rolled her eyes, then proceeded to loudly talk crap about him to another passenger the entire time he was using the facilities. I dont care if she was having the worst day of her career, that was inexcusable. I vowed to never fly them again and 13 years later I still haven't.

being based at JFK for many years flying for TWA and American, it looked like you landed 31R and took off 4R. TWA flight attendants were the best and you could tell who the AA FA's that were ex TWA because of the service and they were very nice .

Noel, It would be good to see more flights with your wife as fibromyalgia is so debilitating and is quite a common syndrome. It is good to see a person with fibromyalgia traveling and being outside of their comfort zone. Travels with your wife is a good role model of what is possible. Maybe more input on whether the travel caused flare-ups with the fibro would be good too. I noticed on the lunch in Spain vlog that your wife suffered from a flare-up halfway through the day. I really enjoy your videos.

I remember hearing about a transatlantic flight in the 1980's that had a security threat, and most of the passengers transferred to other flights when they heard this, but a few didn't, so they took off with only 4 passengers. They told them to sit wherever they liked on the plane, including first class, to thank them for sticking with the flight.

Interesting about the crew you flew with on American. When I flew from Sydney, Aus to LAX with them in 2016, the plane was about 1/3 full. Their service was fantastic, they would walk around every half hour or so to make sure everyone was comfortable and if they needed anything. They put all the extra snacks and drinks by each sets of toilets so that people could get whatever they liked (barring alcohol). They came around and helped people with their immigration cards if they had never been to the USA before.
Everyone who I saw stepp off that flight looked really pleased with the experience
When I flew from LAX to Auckland, NZ 3 1/2 months later, the plane was full. A couple of the flight attendants were relatively friendly, but the rest didn't want to be there and seemed to be frustrated that the plane was full. They ran out of food options for meals and had the same reaction to people asking about what was left when they had run out.
Moral of the story, the emptier an AA flight is, the better the service!

In years past, BA always stood out; however, today, in my opinion, they're about the same as AA when it comes to service and food. Personally, I think AA has better seats in first and business when compared to BA, particularly when compared to BA's tight business class cabin/seat.

That is exactly what I have noticed with United airlines, on every flight I have taken with them it has always been the same, the older cabin crew are nice and friendly but the younger ones do not look like they wanna be there at all and are quite rude, I flew United from Zurich to Dulles a couple of months ago in Polaris and as I was asked what I wanted with my Sundae I asked "What are the options?" and the cabin crew, this young woman, said and I quote, "*Sigh* It's on the menu, did you not read it?" in a very sarcastic tone and I was tempted to just be like Boi, you better watch your mouth, I'm payin your wages atm, but in the end, I just had butterscotch lol, also amazing video!

Noel, your vlogs are so much more informative than those of the much better known "jazz guy 13" and "simply aviation" producers (I am convinced they are all related, if not the very same parties) - you really include the human touch. My own most memorable flights came in 1970 nd 1971 - - - New Jersey to Vietnam both ways on DC8-63CF planes. 29 hours over with 3 ground stops, 24 back with two stops. Japan to Seattle in 7:15; pilots had to throttle back to avoid going supersonic! Is there anything flying today that can compare with those planes?

Wow Noel, you hit the jackpot at Heathrow with assistance actually being there to meet your arriving flight!

I found the same on recent AA flights. Some staff members are surly and not at all friendly. Serious attitude adjustments required and makes me wonder about their training.

Mansfield !! That's where I live....but in the high country of Victoria Australia !!! The views of NYC at night are stunning Noel !! Worst places than NY to be stranded in Noel !! At 24.32 I saw a Flying Kangaroo in the drizzling rain !! What a great deal with BA !! Fantastic video Noel and great to see you and Rachel enjoying a flight together !! Always look forward to your videos mate !! Well done ! And greetings from Mansfield !!

Another thing I’ve found on pretty much all US airlines is that the closer to the back of the plane you are sitting (in economy) the less choice you’ll get. I was on one flight that was only a couple of hours and we had to buy food, by the time the trolley got to me there was no food left, not even pringles!

I did the exact same last year. AA 777 to JFK, then BA 787 back from Newark.
Didn't rate the hard product on either at the seats were so narrow, especially on BA as we'd paid extra for the front row. I forgot the seats were narrower to accommodate the TV and tray table.
Didn't have an issue with the staff on either flight. I did find the AA TV system more responsive.

Me and my now girlfriend flew with AA from Manchester (EGCC) to JFK on a 757 in 2014 and the crew had an attitude then!

I was in New York at the same time as Noel - you can see the weather that did eventually hit in my Finnair review, and also the BA flight that took me there in the first place in much brighter weather :) ps - Noel eating with chopsticks is hilarious here :)

I must say crew as you said makes it. I live in New York, but I am flying into Manchester later to see my mates at Survivors Manchester and couple others, but far as carriers in US go Delta is consistently better. I fly them alot and have been happy .

I took my first BA flights ever in October. A 777 BWI-LHR, the 787 return. The outbound gate agent at BWI asked me if I cared to upgrade to Premium Economy for $150 which I took. My gripe with the 777-200 seats is that all the connectivity was old, USB inoperative and located at your hip. Nothing stayed in. But the staff were very good and the meal and beverages exceeded my expectations. The return 787-8 at a window in coach was fine. At 6'3", I can only be so comfortable. One month prior, my wife was re-routed BWI-CLT-LHR on an American A330-300 due to strikes. She thought it was quite good.

Interesting video - thanks. We're flying to Chicago from Heathrow in April on American Airlines - first transatlantic for a few years. We specifically chose the AA flights over BA (same price, of course) because I wanted to fly on the Dreamliner. Now I'm wondering how we'll find it! Also, we'll be in Economy on the way out & Prem Econ on the way back - it will be interesting to see of that makes a difference.

I remember on a Singapore Airlines flight a couple who couldn’t eat either of the meal options in cultural grounds. The cabin crew went through all other options, salads etc. all declined, in the end they were politely offered a bread roll each!
