    I just learnt about this wet belt thing a couple days ago, and I must confess it's causing me a bad anxiety episode. My Fiesta is a Mk8 1.1 TI-VCT from late 2017. I know it has a wet belt as well, but rhing is i haven't found any case of belt snapped or any problems related to it after a lot of google searchs. The manual states time belt should be replaced every 10 years or 240000Km (150000 miles). Have you seen or heard of 1.1 TI-VCTs with this problem? Thanks! 👍

  • @Tiwey
    @Tiwey Před 15 dny

    by the way if you dont have a torque multiplier:
    The Torque specs are 300Nm + 70°
    70° because the torque multiplies only torque, so 60Nm * 5 are 300Nm but the degrees are lost due to friciton
    For that kind of torque, you will need a 3/4" Breaker bar and a 21 mm socket

    The trouble with the early ecoboost cars is, they are becoming cheap for a 13 plate car,but the timing belt (and oil pump belt) price for renewal is only going up, so people won't spend potentially 1/4 of the cars worth on the belts.
    We sold our 2013 fiesta ecoboost with 108' 000 miles because the job was circa £800 and while it keeps the engine happy, we would still have had a 10 uear old fiesta with 108'000 miles.

    It’s a wonder the crank bolt doesn’t snap . Absolutely no need for the amount of tightening !! why don’t they put a key way crank in . I have one of those engines and will get rid before it needs a new belt . It’s a shame as they do go well but such a shit design.

      Yeah it’s a crazy amount of torqueing in all honesty, and there’s other models that have a keyless crank but still don’t require torquing to what would compare to well over 300nm, I’ve got a couple more to sort soon

    Strange torque sequences or not, The belt should last at least 100k miles with good oil and changed not too long while this engine has managed to win a dozen prizes and it's normally made to be durable. Something rare, especially on modern engines. If maintained correctly, it's built to last. I'm torturing my 1.0 125HP almost every day by floor pedal starting from 1200rpm and almost driving it like a racer to work and back. I've never had a car as tough as this. FOREVER FORD!

      My 1.0 125 similar. Most belt failures seem to be a combination of not using correct oil-yes it's expensive and/or "pushing" the duration between oil changes. It's worth getting the water pump changed at the same time as the belt-100k or 10 years as a lot of the cost is time and changing the water pump needs almost as much stripping down.

      Exactly man. This engine can last even 1 million miles if only the correct oil is used without abusing change intervals and once at every 100k miles verify the oil pickup screen and keep it clean. That's all. Those who blame the engine for wearing out prematurely or having it destroyed simply do not respect that and don't deserve to talk or rate this engine, but until the truth comes out, the damage is already done by those attributing a bad image on the engine.
