The opening music- I got excited that it was going to be a step by step on how to make a traditional Amish chair using early period hand tools.
But the ensuing video was great as well.
Even better: the ship model that it shows!
With your host, Norm Abramson.
lol . . .
Lol, it sounds like some sort of intro for a DIY program.
This.
This is golden.
music makes me feel like I'm going to watch Norm at the Yankee Workshop XD
THATS what it was making me think of!! Thank you!
Quick thing about running lights mod: yes, it is borderline cheat, but on one hand it does have a slight delay (light changes 3-4 seconds after the ship has already changed behaviour), and it also helps low-end pcs running the game on low graphic where the water and ship settings aren't enough to give a clear idea of whether or not the ship is moving or not
I have to play on the minimum most settings and on certain maps I literally cannot tell if theyre moving or if its just the water, so that would help vastly
Great video. It's just sad that it takes third party CC's to have to show this off, as a lot of players aren't aware of a lot of these settings. This is something that WG really should look into for some sort of tutorial. I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of players are struggling with the game simply because they don't have it set up correctly.
Wg should have put i chase vid on their notice board or something
Absolutely. A lot of the settings should be default. There is much information and by default the games show barely any of it. On top of that, some mods are nearly must have.
Thanks for the series, iChase, I don't need it cause I've been playing since beta, but a lot of players will benefit from it.
most of these settings should be on by default, also the minimap bound options are rubbish and should be revisited with a menu tab...
It's your reward for being active and seeking improvement
@@rhystillo Learning basics of the game shouldn't be a reward... It should be a vital skill that all players should know.
I've been playing this game for years and was completely unaware of the modstation. Thank you for the great series!
Thanks for making these Chase! As a old player coming back this is very useful to get back into the swing of things, and hopefully improve that winrate!
Great Vid, iChase. It's long overdue that a CC has taken it upon themselves to do a new set of instructional videos... rather than just showing off good games and ship reviews. I'll be watching the rest of this series. Been playing the game for 4 years now and I was not aware of some of the mods you suggested. Thanks!
6:35 That's why I prefer the 'adaptive' setting for 'Alternative interface mode'. All you have to do is press 'alt' when you want to check ship name on the minimap. I believe the shell timer is always visible, at least in bino view.
Great advice, I've been using those exact same set of mods for several months now and they have improved my game no end especially the NG classic dynamic crosshair.
Very helpful information. Knowing some of the "tricks of the trade" is a great way to make game play more enjoyable.
Keep up the great work. I am looking forward to the other videos.
I was just about to ask you about these yesterday on stream. good video!
Hey ran into you in a random game, didn't know you made vids. Thanks duder
Dang ichase, your training tutorials are first class, I never knew about this WOW Mod station, I always learn so much from your videos, I hope you'll cover destroyer play in this series, cause I struggle with my DD games.
Outstanding iChase. Thank you for the info. Looking forward to the next vids on aiming etc.
I started playing WoWs a little over a week ago. For the life of me, I could not figure out how to aim like the others. You're video is a great help. Just watched #1. My mindset is growth. Now I've installed the mods. After your next, one it's off to battle! Thanks!
I have to say a big thank you to you mate. I had almost giving up the idea of playing BBs because because of my poor aiming. I'm discovering a whole new game right now!
Thank you for this, excellent guide. Doubly appreciated; since the very next battle after getting everything setup, I had easily one of my top 10 random battle games and got the replay to boot
Thanks for the awesome content iChase! I really need this series lol
Keep at it Scott. Don't get discouraged by what you may consider to be poor performance. The more battles you play, the more that the information displayed in this series will be second nature to you.
Been eager to see a new game guide outside of WG. Looking forward to future episodes. Thanks bro!
I'm working on it :D
Just started playing the game and was looking for some good channels to help me on my journey, you sir are a legend you have great informative videos to help noobs like me. Thank you for all your hard work
Happy Birthday and thank you for the great info.
Man, I use your tutorials a lot, and when Wargaming asked me to do a questionnaire, they asked who I watched on YT. I knew I was forgetting someone - it was you. Feel bad about that, sorry mate. You make excellent content.
I love that series, hope it educates a lot of newer and more unexperienced players so they won't feel frustrated with the game
Thanks Chase! They are very useful!
For me the old name "Captain's Academy" and its opening are still very cool even three years later!
And just want to make a suggestion that, it might work better if you could put a screenshot of the effects of the settings when you talk about them.
I'll go into more details in subsequent videos, as this is meant to be a series that you can watch one after another
Since I play on/off since the closed beta, this video added nothing to me personally, but how the *peep* is it possible, that such videos are still necessary for beginners to get their game behave a way it is playable (why is alternative mode the alternative?) It is great that you took your time and set this series up! Wargaming should reimburse you for providing a tutorial)
Many thanks "iChaseGaming" well presented with good info .... My respect to you !! keep up the good work !!
this will be a fine addition to my knowledge
Thank you for making these videos! A BIG help!!
I just love the wholesome intro music in your videos lol
hey thanks for the vids bro you are helping me out big time and my game is improving
Thanks for these vids Chase, I hope that new players will find them. Too much info is not really accessible to them.
Thanks mate. Really usefull. I'm just starting
Very useful guide, thank you chase! Learning everyday subbing your channel!
Thank you!
I wish I knew about the mods sooner. I’ve been playing for about 18 months and never attempted finding any. I’m most excited about the navigator.
I also like the mod which shows AA/Secondary information for my ship - basically the max range of each (broken down to long/mid/short for AA), and also the % state of each - so I can see the effectiveness as I take damage.
Still good info for newb players... Clear and well thought out presentation, worth watching the full series.
Awesome tips and advices :-) thank you for your good work :-)
a big thank you, chase.
Dude, just the vanilla UI changes dramatically increased my aiming and hitrate - in the very next game i hit a citadel and sunk a battleship and a carrier. You're gonna get me good!
I find a lot of the information that you provide is useful and often correct least I find it helpful.
I would recommend to show the circle on the minimap, which indicates the detectability range by air. It helps when there are aircraft in the game. You can more easily estimate when you will be spotted by aircraft and you may be able to avoid it. Additionally, on ships where you use a full secondary build, displaying the range of the secondaries can be useful too. I would not recommend to use all circles, as more circles make it harder to identify the relevant information, as the interface gets overloaded.
eh, i like seeing everything
but i understand why some could see some of it being over whelming
I use all I got used to it. I like know when I should pop my aa priority sectors.
Alternative interface mode can be shown by holding Alt key in battle, but obviously you want it permanently on.
So for the mod pack, do you have to launch the game through the modstaton, or do you use the normal launcher?
I was really hoping that the information here and using the Wargaming Mod Station would help my game play. I thought I had everything set up with the various mods as you outlined, to give them a try and see what worked best for me. They worked great for that evening, but when I logged into WoWS two days later, the mods did not populate and I was back to playing without them. I went back to the Mod Station to check and everything is good, all the boxes for what I was using were still checked, but they just weren't populating when I logged into the game.
I usually log in using the Wargaming Console. Do I need to open up the Mod Station and load into WoWS through that each time I want to play and include the mods I've selected there?
What am I overlooking? Thanks for the video and the advise.
Ship info is also good for knowing what your ship stats are when you are grinding several ships and jumping from one to another. Forget what the detectability in smoke is when firing because you just jumped in a different cruiser. It’s on the ship info mod. It will allow you get down to that last 0.1k to eek out the last salvo before skedaddling.
Also a larger mini map will allow you to aim with the shell impact indicator better to snag that pesky ship hiding behind an island that is spotted. Just put the circle ⭕️ over the ship and send them to the deep. A mini map at the smallest setting can easily cause you to overshoot when you can’t see them from the 3rd person view.
I personally think the circle on the mini map is the worst thing WG introduced. To me it is the biggest legal cheat in the game.
3:02 - Smoke timer is for all smokes, friendly or not. It will display for your own smoke whether you're in it or not. But anytime you get into a teammate OR ENEMY'S smoke, the counter will show. If you're in both your own and someone else's smoke, the timer will show for whichever smoke lasts the longest--that way you know that when the counter hits zero, smoke is gone no matter where it came from.
Thank you!
This may be old, but THANK YOU for this....cant believe i didnt have ANY mods!
GJ iChase as usual ... couple of remarks, maybe if you recommend mods you should only recommend those that have no negative effects or bugs. F.e. shot timer mod displays the timer on EVERY detection that is not proxy ... so you might get people to think that radar/hydro only last 20 seconds ...
Having issue with this WOWS mod-stations. It installs ok except that the navigator mini does not appear to show up. I use to use Aslain's navigator centered all the time show I think I know what to expect.
i recommend checking your drivers if its up to date and if its not download latest version
(if your laking in fps)
I'm glad you're making this for newer players. It seems that player skill has dropped lately and they could really use this information. Thank you.
Yeah, that's what I noticed. Hence why making new tutorial guide
More experienced players should watch this too
excellent, thanks a lot
btw. Thanks for doing this. Looks like you have your mojo back
Hey, i was trying to install the same mods but the damagemeter is light grey (aka can't click it). Can you tell me what this means?
ICHASE - I love your willingness to help us with these tutorials; but I have a very important questions pertaining to this tutorial.
1 - All too often I see players telling everybody in battle chat that they are going left or right. To interpret the information they just provided, a player has to:
A - Figure out who posted it.
B - Hit TAB to see what ship they are playing.
C - Look around your ship to find their ship if there is more than one of their ship type in game (and this only works if they're in your spotting range).
D - figure out which way their ship is heading in order to figure out what left and right actually means.
SO THE QUESTION IS THIS... Why did you not mention leaving the Rotate Minimap setting turned off AND instruct players to learn to use only the fixed directions of North (up), South (down), East (right), and West (left) when posting their intent?
OK, I'm at a bit of a loss here, as I am trying to figure out how to make modstation work. I've installed it, pointed it to my game client, it sees it, and choose the nomogram reticle, click play and the game loads, but no mod... it's not working, or, I'm doing something wrong... any sort of help would be most appreciated...
Thanks bro :)
got my answer thanks
This video is very good but how in the world do you get to the Mod Station? You didn't say and I've never heard of it. I couldn't find it anywhere on the game.
So which ones are the settings that help not get deleted by any semi-competent CV player?
And how do I set consistent hotkeys for the consumables so I don't accidentally trigger the hydro instead of the smoke, just because I'm in a different ship?
I finished this series last week. At that time I had a 41% win ratio. {Based on 100s of games.} In the last 72 games I have played my win percent is 51%. Thanks so much for the lessons. But, watch out I'm coming for your job!
THANKS
Is the modstation where I can get the rough seas mod? or is it a setting?
I have the mod zeiss binoculars, installed it from modstation but cant see any difference? Do I have to change something in settings?
You forgot to mention customizable which are very useful since it shows HP of all ships in match.
tfw i downloaded wows in steam and not directly on the wows website (now cant install mods XD)
btw is there any way to transfer your wows steam version data to the original wows game???
edit: i subbed to this channel cause i really find it helpful
Okay fine! I launched the Mod Station from the Mod Station installation program "Finish" Window and selected many of the things you pointed out. I also selected Captain Skills and don't like the extra "clutter" on my game screen because I really already know what the captain's skill are before going into battle and don't really need it displayed for the entire battle. Now how exactly do I turn it off? I don't know where the Mod Station got stored and IT DIDN'T CREATE A DESKTOP ICON TO LAUNCH IT! Evidently it is too much to ask that it be capable of being launched from the Game Center like common sense says it should be since it is WG approved!
If I use File Explorer and search "MY PC" and enter Mod Station in the search field; the only thing it finds in my entire PC is a .jpeg file titled OT_MOD STATION LOADER which obviously CANNOT launch the Mod Station!
The running light might be useful for ships that don't have torpedoes.
thank you
Hello I'm a new player but I have a bit low end pc does the graphic matter for fights
Is the "Score Timer" removed? I found out that when I want to click on it, it it not selecting it, and before I clicked it, the selection was translucent. What do I do to fix this?
Is the "rotate minimap" setting a good idea?
Does the mod station work with the Steam version of the game?
My a and d steering keys are VERY sluggish (I have to REALLY hammer the keys), the wasn't when I first started playing the game about a month ago. Would be if you could help.
And my question is how to do the modstation work, i have the PT edition and it says that there's no client, wth?
how can these mods be added if you have the steam version? the workshop I assume?
Can the mod center be used for steam clients?
I have an issue with the mod. When I launch the mod and starts downloading files it says after a while that it has no internet connection available, we'll that is wrong my internet is fine, I don't now why this happening, so could you please help me?
this old things you use, does they make you fps go up?
Can someone tell me where do i find all those settings, cuz the settings interface is different now. Thanks in advance
How do i get all the ships display like your at the lobby screen?
regarding modstation: I installed it recently (around the time patch 0.8.10 came out, I think) and I play WoWS via steam. modstation can't find the gameclient for some reason and I couldn't find a solution for this anywhere so far. Does anyone here maybe have ideas on what could be done? (thanks in advance, if so)
@
iChaseGaming - By top right 5:40 do you mean on top of the minimap to the right of the top?
So go to the right edge of the minimap, then moving upward. you see that gear icon.
Hey chase, does modstation work for the microsoft store version of Wows?
Its the same game regardless of Steam, MS store or
direct dowload
Correct if I'm wrong. But it seems to me they have removed navigator?
Can I get these on console or do I just have to be a lil worse than pc just for playing console
i want to know how you got that....select client , mods, settings page up
Thanks for the post Chase. The Damage Meter in the Modstation appears to be disabled after the latest update. Any idea how this can be fixed?
@@tuitionsucks8202 I messaged the mod maker on the forum today, hopefully he can look into it.
I have tried downloading the mod station and it does not populate any clients. I have not been able to find anything about this anywhere. Has anyone else had this problem?
I have a problem, the mods wont show up even though I've installed them.
how did you get to the mod manager?
very good info sadly wg couldn't explain that
some of the mods show up in the mod installer but i cant select them
Was watching Potato_Quality on Twitch earlier and he turned off the “Track target” option in the Controls menu camera section. Apparently it seems to him like it resulted in better dispersion. Maybe that’s just because if the target is moving across the screen the crosshair is also moving, thus taking control away from the player? Probably not a thing for newer players but those of us who like to adjust aim and pick spots on ships might have something to consider.
In settings it's auto lock, he probably turned it off to manual lock.
Locking on makes the shots far more accurate because it's a mechanic, you should always lock on to fire
How to remove line in sniping mode? I want only thd middle crosshair. 4:11
Score timer mod is grayed out and not able to be installed, someone help me pls
How do I find the Mod Manager? That would be a great tip.
Look up at his description about the video under his logo, the link is there.
recently i restarted playing again, i was wondering where the shell travel time was, thank you
go here for stats about your ships wowsft.com/
Great that you make an updated beginners guide! Much needed I feel, in the last half year. :) But I got one issue that is the use of MODs.. You say it yourself f.ex about the running light, and there are more options /mods that make the game close to just auto aim. As a new player, that dont want to do the work or might get tempted, to not learn the game, and get the feeling for the game. Using mods is a quick fix, and imo something that is to easy to do. And in these days, were cheating is a very known issue in a lot of games and many are used to pay themself to an advantage. Using every helping mechanic both legal and borderline legal, or moraly in a grey zone is gonna get used by many. Then its a bit disappointing, that you show such mods in your beginner guide(outside the in-game ones). When at least I want the community to have a quality and honour(?) to itself :)
I have played since Beta, I know every mechanic in the game, I know the main important traits to almost every ship. So I know what to do in almost every situation, and I know almost everytime what I did wrong when I do. I notice almost instant, if a ship moves forward or backwards in my fingertips. If a DD most likely have launched torps, or when to steer away from them before they come. Its intuition, since I played for so long. But I do mistakes. And here is where my issue with mod is, as the game need to have an element of failure. We cant always hit with every shot, or have new players get into the game with a system of guidlines around them that give them so much information that they lose that awesome feeling of mastery of WoWs. Thats what keeping me playin, that I get challenged to use my experience & knowledge :) I understand that WoWs has a steep learning curve if you get into the game today. But I hoped that you iChase cud learn beginners without showing them the easy way out.. :)
That is the same moral problem i have. I do hate the current dynamic crosshair since its kinda buggy BUT i also dislike playing with cheats that maybe the half of my enemy team never heard of. But i also dislike playing against veterans who are using all of these mods or even more. I dont know if i use them or not. I dont want to play this game in easy mode but i want to have the same fair conditions as other (better) players.
@@MyXrayz Hm, the reality is u aint gonna get from both worlds.. You just need to play the game, and be open minded when playin as iChase have said in a video before :) And use static crosshair, it will be more consistent when you use different ships ;)
