    Hi mate thanks for the reply as I said your Rod Holders are very good for your fishing situations. I’m glad you like my ideas on the materials that I make Rod Holders out of. Regards Laurie. From Down Under.

      They are not hard to make. If you can pre-cut the pieces I'm sure you can find a friend that has a welder that could put them together in a few minutes. Thanks so much for watching and may God bless you!

    Forget to add in the cost of the welder and bender LOL.
    My dad welded some nuts to the top of some fence posts. Then he drives the posts into sand and screws the rod holders into the tops of the posts. In the sandy yet full of rocks bottom this works great.

    Pretty cool design. Have you tried using a rubber compound like flex seal to the parts that contact the rod and reel?

      No I haven't, but that is a great idea and something to think about! Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts! Good stuff! God bless!

    What size and type of pipe do you use for the rings that the rod goes into? Also, what size is the bolt you welded to the top of the rebar?

    • @thefrugalsportsman
      @thefrugalsportsman  Před 9 měsíci

      The pipe size is dependent on the handle size of your rod. My grandkids have push button reels with fat handle rods. I made sure they fit in the pipe before selecting what size to use. I there case I think I used 2" black pipe. If all you use is spinning rods then you can probably get away with 1 1/4" pipe. The rebar is 1/2" so I think I used a 3/4" nut. Hope that helps! Thanks so much for watching and may God bless you!

      Thanks for your interest, but I'm not in a position to make these for sale right now. If you are looking to make them yourself and are asking what to charge, I'd research what other similar rod holders are going for and price it accordingly. Thanks for watching and may God bless.

    Make them cheaper then that 1 an half pvc pipe an duct tape with your rebar

    • @thefrugalsportsman
      @thefrugalsportsman  Před 2 lety

      That's a thought. You could use that as well. I already had the pipe in my scrap collection and the welder so it was cheaper for me to make them this way! Thanks for watching and sharing and God bless!

    Mate your rod holders look very good but they would be too heavey for me good ih your fishing on a river bank or fishi ng on a lake shore and your next to your car where do not have to walk to far. But for myself they are not very practical l walk a long way along the Surf beaches and lake shores and river banks i can make up rod holders out of PVC and Aluminum they would be a quater of the weight compared to your Rod Holders and i can make them up for three dollars each. Regards, Laurie from down under, Tight lines,

      Glad to hear from someone so far away! Greetings! Yeah those rod holders you described work awesome for the surf and softer ground. I designed these for the hard ground we have here in Pennsylvania so I could pound them in and specifically to hold my grandchildren's poles with the fat handles. You gave me a good idea though and I might do a video on how to build those you talked about for others with a similar need like yours. Thanks so much for watching and may God bless you!

    Well now I need to buy a bender and a welding machine 🤦🏻‍♂️

    Not so great when the majority of people do not have the equipment for this!

    • @thefrugalsportsman
      @thefrugalsportsman  Před rokem +1

      I just happen to have that equipment. But really anyone with a hacksaw can cut the parts and prep them with the simplest of tools and many people know a friend with a welder or could pay a few bucks for someone to put it all together in a few minutes. Many of my videos are DIY based mainly to show people concepts and ideas and to show what is possible with just a little thought. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching and may God bless!
