The past three times I've gotten my hair done, I have told my hair stylist to do whatever the hell she wants. She won't tell me, or turn my chair around or anything. The first time she did my hair, I wanted dark roots with teal hair, I showed her the picture and it was her first time ever doing something crazy like that.... It's funny to me that the fashion industry rashes on people with naturally curly/kinky hair then they put it on people with straight hair and it looks bad. Like it kind of just proves that they don't know how to style it.
Because those people have already lived most of their life with that kind of hair and need a new do. They may already look good, doesnt mean they can't look better, and most of the time they DO look better. Theyre pro's, I think they know what theyr'e doing, especially when the model's makeup is done afterwards, and makeup makes all the difference.
Literally the most inspiring thing I ever heard on trash TV was Tyra telling the story of her moms reaction to the designers telling Tyra to lose weight. "Screw them let's order a pizza" and moving forward finding people and brands who celebrate what you bring to the table is truly the most amazing message about body positivity AND about your life and your career

Everyone with glasses knows what it's like to basically have the mirror covered. It's like a fun surprise at the end. Last time I told my stylist/colorist just to have fun & do whatever. I ended up with insanely awesome unicorn hair & she even won an award for it! 🦄💜
I just walked in to my hair place with hair down to my belly button. Said I wanted a pixie. I took off my glasses and told her I couldn’t see any thing but just have fun. She kept cutting it just a couple inches and being like “YOU KNOW A PIXIE IS LIKE. VERY SHORT. RIGHT?!” I give my hairdressers nervous breakdowns. I told a couple I wanted a buzz cut and they turned me away. Hahahahaha
I've had similar happen. But with color. I had like 3 or 4 turn me away cuz I asked them for a crazy color. The 5th one finally did it after making me sign a waiver lol I cant even remember what color I asked for now.
I get the crazy looks every time I go to get my hair cut. I only go like once every couple of years so I grow it out between cuts. It will get to about just above my butt then I tell them to cut it off to just above my shoulders. Every time they ask about 15 times, “are you sure?” So I have to tell them I do it every time. After that I just give general guidelines and say have fun with it and do whatever you want. I always love cutting off about 2 feet of my hair, it feels so good. My husband hates it but gets over it quickly because I always love it and it makes me happy. Lol. The only bad experience I had was when I wanted to go a little more strawberry blonde and it turned out really brassy. But I never get too upset about bad hair cuts/ colors because I always just cut it off and it will grow back in a few months. Don’t sweat the small stuff. Everything is small stuff. :)
I had a similar thing. I wanted it cropped really short/ pixie style - like short enough not to curl and she said she was going to leave it just a bit longer at the back because it might be a shock. I literally had to cut that bit off mullet off when I got home, hated it. Then again I did regret it and it took years to grow out 😂 Not her fault though.
Brad always says it’s every hair stylists dream to just have someone sit in their chair and be able to do whatever they want to their hair. I’ve asked 3 different stylists to do this and they are all scared and give me the same thing I already have. 😭

I actually had that experience! After a complicated break up, I went to the hairdresser and just said " I need a change. Do whatever you want!". I took off my glasses and I'm soooo blind! When I put them back on, I was a new person! She did such a great job! It looked a-ma-zing! And then she got a baby, quit her job and I never found anyone capable of recreating that hairstyle :'( But everyone should try that at least once.
Svenja Jarmuschewski I agree! When I was younger I always had reeeaaally long hair, past my butt. One day I cut it all shoulder length because I was bored. I told the hairstylist that I wanted a layered, fun style. She cut it all the same length and gave me an awful fringe that didn't suit my face at all. I looked like a 16 year old soccer mom. I lasted a week with this style. And this salon was expensive! I then went to a salon where they train stylists so it's really cheap. I said to the girl "just give me something crazy, something to work with" and she was soooo so happy about it that this alone was worth it. She said she always wanted to be able to do whatever she wants and gave me the most amazing hairstyle! Exactly how I wanted it. It was fun and playful and I looked better than I ever have. She finished her training and moved really far away and no one was able to recreate that look so far, sadly. But it was so awesome while it lasted.
I did this! Went into a salon and there was a 'show stylist' in that day, whatever that means, She cut my hair into the cutest pixie! Went from long to 'ellen short' something I never in a million years would have asked for, but I loved it so much I wore it short for many years after. Every woman should do this, at least once. It's a great experience!

It's because the modeling industry doesn't know how to style it. Natural hair takes a lot of time and usually requires a specialist. That's why most celebs aren't natural. Being natural is a commitment, especially if you have 4b or 4c hair.
ScrubLordSarah Honey, this is a reality show about modeling. There are several other girls who have to be made up and styled. A weave is actually a good protective style. This is more of a problem with the fashion industry in general. Luckily natural is becoming more mainstream so hopefully those celebrity stylist will become more skilled and take the time with it.
Lio (formerly Analeigh) is still my favorite contestant ever on this show. They were just the best person to ever be on the show. They were so caring to Isis. They kicked the male models out when Marjorie got way too drunk and things were getting too far (which I will ALWAYS be pissed no one did for Shandi). They also took great pictures and was a very talented actor as well.
I loved it but I think I’m biased bc I have really red hair. Well. Copper hair I guess. Mine’s not curly though, it’s kind of wavy. It took me so long to love my hair bc of all the hate I got for it in school but now it’s long af, thick af and legit glitters in the sun so I love it now and probs couldn’t change it for anything.
I started to see ANTM with this season and I liked it a LOT back then. All the girls are SOOOOOO beautiful in this season and I think all the makeovers were so well done.

Lindsay D Sew in’s can be very painful. I started to get them when I was 14 due to insecurity about my hair length(looking back at it my hair was long lol) but some stylists are so rough and uncaring about your actual hair many end up getting traction alopecia and lose their edges
It can be very painful, especially if you don't get them done alot or are tender headed. Even when you tell a stylist it hurts alot of them don't care about your comfort much...
If you watch the episodes after this one you find out the weave is too heavy for her braids to hold and it literally starts ripping her hair out from the root.
I've done this twice. First time I got red, mohagany, and blond highlights and then I got my hair that was all the way down to my butt chopped up to under my ears and black. Super fun.
I have actually done that 3 times. Just let the stylist do whatever they want. My mom taught me growing up that hair is easy, you can always change it and it will grow back. The results were stunning each time. Sometimes I want a change, but I don't have a vision so I let them take over. No regrets, ever.
Tiffany White yeah, I feel like people are acknowledging how fake a lot of these models hair really is and seeing a black woman with stick straight hair to her ass is insane. I know no black woman who would dare spend the time and money straightening all of that hair regularly. It'd be a nightmare! 😵 And chemically relaxing it? It'd break off long before it got that long... 😥
My hair has basically always just been long. Like, I can actually sit on it long. I did a big cut once but it wasn’t done that well so I’m always scared to get it done. I think Brad is literally the only hair stylist I would 1000% trust to just take full control of my hair.

I actually had that experience! After a complicated break up, I went to the hairdresser and just said " I need a change. Do whatever you want!". I took off my glasses and I'm soooo blind!
When I put them back on, I was a new person! She did such a great job! It looked a-ma-zing!
And then she got a baby, quit her job and I never found anyone capable of recreating that hairstyle :'(
But everyone should try that at least once.
Svenja Jarmuschewski I agree! When I was younger I always had reeeaaally long hair, past my butt. One day I cut it all shoulder length because I was bored. I told the hairstylist that I wanted a layered, fun style. She cut it all the same length and gave me an awful fringe that didn't suit my face at all. I looked like a 16 year old soccer mom. I lasted a week with this style. And this salon was expensive!
I then went to a salon where they train stylists so it's really cheap. I said to the girl "just give me something crazy, something to work with" and she was soooo so happy about it that this alone was worth it. She said she always wanted to be able to do whatever she wants and gave me the most amazing hairstyle! Exactly how I wanted it. It was fun and playful and I looked better than I ever have. She finished her training and moved really far away and no one was able to recreate that look so far, sadly. But it was so awesome while it lasted.

I did this! Went into a salon and there was a 'show stylist' in that day, whatever that means, She cut my hair into the cutest pixie! Went from long to 'ellen short' something I never in a million years would have asked for, but I loved it so much I wore it short for many years after. Every woman should do this, at least once. It's a great experience!

It's because the modeling industry doesn't know how to style it. Natural hair takes a lot of time and usually requires a specialist. That's why most celebs aren't natural. Being natural is a commitment, especially if you have 4b or 4c hair.

ScrubLordSarah Honey, this is a reality show about modeling. There are several other girls who have to be made up and styled. A weave is actually a good protective style. This is more of a problem with the fashion industry in general. Luckily natural is becoming more mainstream so hopefully those celebrity stylist will become more skilled and take the time with it.

Lio (formerly Analeigh) is still my favorite contestant ever on this show. They were just the best person to ever be on the show. They were so caring to Isis. They kicked the male models out when Marjorie got way too drunk and things were getting too far (which I will ALWAYS be pissed no one did for Shandi). They also took great pictures and was a very talented actor as well.

I loved it but I think I’m biased bc I have really red hair. Well. Copper hair I guess. Mine’s not curly though, it’s kind of wavy. It took me so long to love my hair bc of all the hate I got for it in school but now it’s long af, thick af and legit glitters in the sun so I love it now and probs couldn’t change it for anything.

It can be very painful, especially if you don't get them done alot or are tender headed. Even when you tell a stylist it hurts alot of them don't care about your comfort much...

The braiding process of a weave is incredibly painful for some. It is also very tight
If you watch the episodes after this one you find out the weave is too heavy for her braids to hold and it literally starts ripping her hair out from the root.

I've done this twice. First time I got red, mohagany, and blond highlights and then I got my hair that was all the way down to my butt chopped up to under my ears and black. Super fun.
I have actually done that 3 times. Just let the stylist do whatever they want. My mom taught me growing up that hair is easy, you can always change it and it will grow back. The results were stunning each time. Sometimes I want a change, but I don't have a vision so I let them take over. No regrets, ever.
