@Rich Casino Kessel is still the analytical equivalent of a donut. He scores goals, but those are empty-calorie goals. He's not as good in the other two thirds of the ice.
The Leafs quit. They quit. Dubas and the Leafs gave money to guys who have supreme talent, that means guys like Zach Hyman and Connor Brown who aren't as talented but work hard get forced out. Toronto does not work hard. They do not have heart. They quit when things get hard
Meanwhile Oilers fans: Every single one of us were in 100% agreement with the Hyman signing from the moment it was announced and there was not a single second of doubt put upon Ken Holland.
@@TheLeafs2000 he traded for Barrie primarily. And he only went for Barrie because kadri declined trading himself to Calgary for t.j. Brodie, whom we got anyway..
I truly believe that the sundin era was the last time we had competitors on this team. Since then something has changed with the mentality of the team. I'm not sure if we just sign less competitive players or is it because of the Toronto market making players into celebrities. What ever it is, these players are way too comfortable losing and losing bad. I can't even stand losing in a video game. They do not have a winner mentality in that dressing room because if they did you would be seeing a fight after every shot on net after it was 4-1. Sadly I don't think change is around the corner. You can fire the GM, fire the coach but the mentality will always be the same. You can't teach work ethics and heart. You can't teach being competitive. They rarely win games by working hard. Most of their wins come down on pure skill and when the skilled guys don't show up, you have nights like this. It took just 6 games for me to miss Zach Hyman.
What’s amazing to me about Holl and Dermott is that liljegren is as good as either of them and Dubas still decided “uhhhhhhh let’s unprotect leafs legend McCann these guys are too good to give up” also matthews is a huge player and he’s really strong I would like to see him hit somebody and hard

It's that time of year when the leafs start to fall and get buried in huge piles of snow while decomposing feeding the greens they will be playing on this post season.
As an SDP listener and Penguins fan my ears always perk up when you guys mention them. That said when I saw who was NOT playing for the Pens tonight I was more concerned about Steve than my team loosing. Pens loose that game no one says boo... but it's the leafs so you know they would find a way to blow it against the WBS Baby Penguins and friends that were in the line up. Ps. It was 13 cup rings missing from the line up.
I've been a leafs fan all my life but last year's playoff exit was the final straw. I thought when this season started my interest would be back but truth is I haven't watched a single game this year. Last year left such a bad taste and it's still very much there. I'm fed up with this selfish roster, this management group that coddles underperforming and overpaid stars never holding them accountable. There was all the hope in the world when the Shanaplan started but you'd be delusional to think it's not off the rails at the moment. They need a major move to shake things up. Personally I'll continue to have no further interest in this team I team until Marner is traded. Ever since his contract negotiations, the entitlement, the dissappearing act when the games really matter it's crystal clear to me mentally he does not have what it takes to succeed in this market. All the talent in the world but it's all between the ears with him. You can tell watching last year's playoffs the dude looks visibly shaken in big moments. Sorry but that's not what you pay $11/year for.
@@patrickhamos2987 I've shifted my alot of my focus to the Blue Jays and Raptors. Oh Marner does have it. Just watch what will happen when he plays for another team that isn't the Leafs. Haven't you noticed that around 80% of the time when a leaf player gets traded to another team their passion and hard work immediately blossom and they become damn good? It's this franchise dude. There's something about playing for the Leafs that completely supresses player potential.

We've already lost Hyman, Brown, Kadri and this year will be Reilly. Enough is enough.
Hi Steve. I'm a Pens fan, but I've been watching your videos, win or lose for the last 3 years or so, as soon as I saw the final of this game ( didn't watch because I was at the Pittsburgh Riverhounds game) I knew this LFR was going to be something like this. Im sorry that my team put you in this mood tonight. Also doing The Wave is a Pittsburgh sports thing. It happens at every Pittsburgh sports game at some point
I’m not trying to be rude, but I have to disagree. I’ve been to dozens of Pens games in Pittsburgh, and can’t recall The Wave happening more than a couple times.
@@mattdowney5461 Things may have changed then because when I had season tickets from 2005-2009 it was always going on, or at least people were trying to start it. Some games it caught on, some it didn't
It’s hard to build a team with 4 guys making 50% of the salary cap i feel like Steve and the sdpn live under a fallacy of loving Marner and defending him but also talking about trading him. Make a solid stance. Leafs missed their opportunity to trade him this summer with a salary retention now they’re stuck with this lineup AGAIN. I’m no longer stressing on this team, especially the reg season. I’ll save it since they’ll blow another series again.
@@DominicGibbs I didn't say anything about him being better in Edmonton, just Toronto is missing his presence. Besides, it's not like he hasn't been playing with Matthews & Marner
I’ll happily admit i watch more loss videos then win videos. For the hardcore fans it’s cathartic, but for the casual observer (like me), you are very energetic and entertaining when they lose. The B2B Cup champs are 2-2-1. It’s early and being a fan of ANY team can be painful.
I was working so I couldn’t watch the game, but as soon as I got home and checked the score I immediately thought “todays lfr is gonna do big numbers on CZcams”
One constant remains on this team, and its the collective teams inability to consistently win puck battles at at least a 50% rate. There are some outliers on the team, but I have never seen a team this skilled on paper, with this poor puck retrieval. Also, this is going back a couple seasons... but this teams inability to come together for each other is very striking. They have some of the best players in the world, all playing for themselves. For that contract. You cannot win like that. There's a reason we get pumped in the playoffs. And it's not the refs. It's not injuries. It's not "getting goalied". It's this teams inability to A)Work together for the good of the TEAM, and B) The teams inability to win puck battles and outwork the other team. Final thought. When was the last time you saw the Toronto Maple Leafs OUTWORK a more skilled/superior team? Not outskill them, OUTWORK. Can't think of one? Yeah. Me neither.
Really miss Zach Hyman on the top line being able to go in hard on the forecheck and create some space for Matthews/Marner, clearly these skill guys aren’t paid enough to do the dirty work and win their own puck battles
This. Right here. Looking back over the past several seasons I’ve noticed that any wins they got were skill or luck. They have never outworked anybody, and they don’t even look like they know how.
You're right. I think that's part of the reason why the Raps resonate with people so much. They work their damn asses off. The Leafs seem to be allergic to scoring dirty goals, which are essential if you want any sort of success in the playoffs. Not every goal needs to be a nice tic-tac toe passing play. It's not a video game! Even Keefe noticed this during the Amazon doc, but the rest of the team basically brushed this aside.
If they still had some heart and soul grit like Hyman, Brown and Kap, I wonder if this lack of outworking would be less evident or at least not happening as much. Either way, these skill guys are gonna have to realise if they don't start working then 1-2 of them are gone.
it’s embarrassing how a team that has so much potential to win a stanley cup constantly shits the bed every single opportunity they get, but what makes this even worse? steve called it. he literally fucking called it last game because he knows - just like the entire fanbase knows - you can’t trust this team. at all.

All we can do now is hope they can be motivated and if it takes firing the coach, firing the gm, firing the president.. I say do it. We need an old school coach who isn't afraid to bench every single player on this team if they aren't willing to work and listen to how they are told to play.

Facts
Honestly, I started watching by being one of those schmucks that only came along once a year on the bad loss, but now I'm like addicted to all your vids, including the wins, and its inspired me to make my own Bruins flavored version of LFR. So thank you, Mr. Dangle for being an inspiration in my life.
i mean hahahahhaha leafs screamy man go boom
Hell yeah man. Keep doing what your doing.
6:01 why we're blessed as Pens fans...
My immediate thought when the Leafs list a game now isn't "aww man I'm sad, that sucks". My immediate thought is "God I hope Steve is ok".
My immediate thought after the sens game today was rage towards krieder
Win or lose Steve is my favorite part of the Leafs.
I get wound up like he does about the Cowboys in football.
I'm that guy that watches 2-3 vids of his a year and this is one of them. I laughed so hard I was crying😂 Steve has the best reactions I swear
It’s only game 5 of the season much more to come
Steve, your face at 8:21 is utterly fantastic!
That game was so very hard to watch.
I want to see Spezza snap on one of the superstars and tell them to take their head out of their ass.
Toronto has this amazing ability to push Boston to a Game 7 in the playoffs, yet somehow turn around and play like a lottery team when facing an AHL team. Toronto always plays down to their competition. Literally always.
Me: "Well I'm really tired and it's time to go to bed."
*Steve Dangle posts the LFR to tonight's 7-1 Maple Leafs disaster*
Me: "Sleep will be waiting for me." *presses play*
I couldn't stay up. But it was the first thing I did when I got up.
I actually envy you Steve. You clearly still have that passion for this team. This team has me feeling utterly hollow inside
If Leafs had 10% of the passion Dangle has they would be a much better team
I watched The Leafs win the cup for my 1st time in 64, and again in 67.I'm sad that I'll never feel that excitement again ,what's even sadder is that there are now so many that will never feel it at all ,because this core will never achieve a final.
Lmao this is amazing. As an Oilers fan who understands this kind of pain but isn't currently going through it, it's lovely to watch from a distance. 🍿 Dangle makes me laugh in videos like this.
Oilers are garbage though so I don't know what you're laughing about.
Lol, it truly is amazing. I’m no Laffs or Oilers fan, and my team, the lowly habs, ain’t doing very good at all, but at least we’re not toronto🤣
I love coming hear and listening to Steve rant after a brutal Laffs loss, it just makes me smile. 😁
i can hear Tree laughing from here
Steve, just remember ,they lost to a zambony driver . So the leafs can take you places you never dreamed of . This loss is just a loss 📉 😔
Friendly reminder: this was a nationally broadcast game
After Montreal ousted the Leafs last year in the playoffs you were wondering if you could even keep doing LFR. I think you should’ve listened to that voice in your head
The amount of time, money and loyalty I've put into this team for 30 straight years is exhausting. I'm actually embarrassed to be a fan of this franchise
lol if that's true then u should bcome a fan of a few othr teams.:D
You should be embarrassed
Marner, Matthews and Ritchie (combined stats): 15 GP - 0 G - 1 A - 1 PTS - - - $25,043,250
Jason Spezza: 06 GP - 3 G - 1 A - 4 PTS - - - $750,000
Zach Hyman: 05 GP - 5 G - 1 A - 6 PTS - - - $5,500,000
These Toronto Maple Leafs will NEVER even win a round, let alone a Stanley Cup... hell, I think they'll be out of the playoffs the next 3 seasons.
*_FIRE SHANAHAN - FIRE DUBAS - BLOW THIS TEAM UP NOW_*

“A guy named Drew O’Connell scored two goals today, TRIPLING his goal total!” - I love your math! That made me burst out laughing. And, after that game, I was not in a laughing mood. Thanks, Steve.
He went from 1 goal to 3 after the game. So mathematically he did triple it
As a lifelong hockey fan who loves the Hurricanes, it is somewhat entertaining to watch an original 6 team flounder so badly.
I feel like I'm gonna be watching a lot of Steve this year.

Hey Steve, did the penguins just do what the Leafs cannot even dream of: win a game with all the excuses pre-built in??
apparently hyman is more intregal to a winning team than first thought.
thanks for him hes working out great over here.
My headphones could barely pick up the frequenzy, thanks for your amasing personality.
I remember when the Leafs had Kessel, Phaneuf and Clarkson and the fact they're still embarrassing themselves and their fans in the same way with all this talent they have now is hilarious
The Leafs are still paying Kessel 1.2mil
@Rich Casino Kessel is still the analytical equivalent of a donut. He scores goals, but those are empty-calorie goals. He's not as good in the other two thirds of the ice.
The Leafs quit. They quit.
Dubas and the Leafs gave money to guys who have supreme talent, that means guys like Zach Hyman and Connor Brown who aren't as talented but work hard get forced out.
Toronto does not work hard. They do not have heart. They quit when things get hard

I love this dude, how is his hair not white from stress already. I'm shopping for some Zen candles to send to him
I truly believe that the sundin era was the last time we had competitors on this team.
Your love of Jason Spezza is overshadowing the fact that in this game he was a turnover machine. Keefe may be drunk moving him up the lineup.
The title should just be "dang-it". Sums up the game quite well
I'm a Pens fan, and a Steve fan.. this game made me feel extremely conflicted..
There always seems to be one epic loss a season for Steve to react to..

It's that time of year when the leafs start to fall and get buried in huge piles of snow while decomposing feeding the greens they will be playing on this post season.
This is the greatest SHOW on CZcams!! By a country mile!!
This is the best annual tradition in the entire nhl (aside from leafs losing in the first round).
Just root for another team dude.
@@patrickhamos2987 I've shifted my alot of my focus to the Blue Jays and Raptors. Teams I can watch and genuinely feel good about 👍 There's just too much negativity and toxicity with this current Leafs roster and like Steve said I'm convinced management has no clue how to fix their own mess at this point.
@@youzettasonsofdigits1639 No. I'm tired of the excuses and this team is cursed blah blah. He demanded to be paid as a top player in this league from THIS team. So he's expected to produced for THIS team. No excuses and zero sympathy. I'm tired of this team losing heart and soul players every year that you NEED to win because the stars (again Marner more than anyone else) pinched every penny from this team.

When I saw Hutchinson in net I said in my mind “oh god the penguins are getting 7” and they got 7.
When Montreal starts 1-5 and still looks more promising than Toronto. (We know we were are missing 2/3 of our top D and Starting goalie)
Zach Hyman is definitely missed by this team

I’ll happily admit i watch more loss videos then win videos. For the hardcore fans it’s cathartic, but for the casual observer (like me), you are very energetic and entertaining when they lose. The B2B Cup champs are 2-2-1. It’s early and being a fan of ANY team can be painful.
I was working so I couldn’t watch the game, but as soon as I got home and checked the score I immediately thought “todays lfr is gonna do big numbers on CZcams”
I'm in pain from laughing so hard! Love you Steve
it hurts to see guys like matthews and marner still laughing on the bench after a 4-1 goal...against.
They just don't seem to care
They couldn’t care because they’re running the team.
Either way, these skill guys are gonna have to realise if they don't start working then 1-2 of them are gone.
it’s embarrassing how a team that has so much potential to win a stanley cup constantly shits the bed every single opportunity they get, but what makes this even worse? steve called it. he literally fucking called it last game because he knows - just like the entire fanbase knows - you can’t trust this team. at all.
I think we all needed this. Let’s check back again next week guys!
