Scrapper guy and gal, or whatever they were doing were actually pretty cool showing yall the spots and not getting angry that you’re there
The fact they trusted them to blur out their faces rather surprised me. Although I guess the footage only proves they were there, not what they were doing.
@@alexatkin and they didn’t seem to be up to any real shady behavior but you can always seem okay but be up to some sketchy shit!
the scrappers have no reason to be angry when they shouldn't be there themselves.
Exactly, these morons talk like these f****** scrappers are the owners. I don't care how nice they were, I don't care how rude they are they're nothing as far as I'm concerned.
Y'all talk like those people own the place when they're bums. They own nothing. All stolen.
"Pretty cool flowers!" - shows Japanese Red Spider Lillies, a flower symbolic of death, loss, and abandonment lol
maybe they should stop making the cool flowers the depressing ones
@@i_love_games110yea... Yea
pretty fitting for an abandoned military base lol
According to stuff I made up they symbolize red spiders in Japan.
In America it means you have the diarrhea. 💩
It's cool how once the scrappers realized you weren't cops or security the "people who lurk around in buildings at night" code kicked in and they gave you the info hookup
what do you think scrappers are?
@@cagneybillingsley2165listen in my time crawling through buildings I've met my share of scrappers and some are nice folks and others are territorial and fucking violently crazy.
the lady was so nice telling them to be really careful. she sounded like a mom
I'm glad the scrappers were normal and not... The Proper People Eaters.
they're simply recycling unused materials. it'll get demolished anyway
Something kind of comforting about meeting strangers in an abandoned mall at 2 in the morning, a potential nightmare scenario, and they're just nice friendly people and they show you around. Humans are mostly ok, actually.
Who needs a horror movie set when there's malls like this 😂
Do not worry, I’m making one about the Rolling Acres Mall
@@chrisanimations22will u release it? Cus if so I will be happy to watch it!
A horror movie set are built from scratch not on malls
I imagined that during every movie
Why build something stupid like that
When something scary like this exists

Projector guy here. Movie screens have holes in them primarily to limit the amount of light reflected back towards the viewer. The secondary effect allows the base speakers to project through the screen without shaking it.
Regarding the speakers and the projectors being gone. They would absolutely have an audio engineer and projector engineer come in and remove all the devices + automation gear after the movies stopped playing. If it was post DCI (digital cinema initiative) there would be no way they would leave the projectors behind as they are likely 300,000.00+
Just a small correction. Cinema screens have holes in them to allow the sound of the speakers placed behind them to travel to the audience. Screens need to reflect as much light as possible back into the audience. Bass speakers are non directional and are usually placed below the screen. Depending on when this place was abandoned would depend if it was viable to remove projection equipment. After digital came in older film projectors, amplifiers and sound systems were virtually worthless. Most went to land fill.
Yea no its just for sound. Dont be that guy in the comments. Youre not special. They already explained it in the video
The amount of bugs in the caves cannot be underestimated
Ah yes The Nope Cave and The GTFO Forest.
If you’re ever in a cave with a lot of bats, have a good look at the floor. If there’s a buildup of guano (bat poop) the floor is literally alive with creatures. It was in the ones in Cuba we explored!
Please keep the intro indefinitely, I swear there isn’t a better feeling than listening to that and drinking some warm tea ❤️
I’m happy you guys wear respirators now
Me too
This is pretty old footage, at least Japan...
It is a really good thing that they did. Save their lungs a bit.
I haven't seen them wear respirators in new videos for so long.
I’m guessing asbestos in all those walls!!
I always bring a red flashlight for night raids, they’re much harder to detect from a distance, which is why the military uses them for covert ops.
Unrelated but now I understand why the CRM has red angle lights on their chest rigs in The Walking Dead
bwah beanies
Not even covert ops. Its just standard in the military, especially when you’re out in the field. Everyone does it
Right up until someone brings night vision.
I remember exploring an abandoned factory with some friends when another separate group was also exploring. We ended up hiding from each other for 2 hours thinking the other group was security. Was a huge relief when we finally spotted them lmao
I was hiding in the auditorium of my school to dodge going to some loud asf assembly because there wasnt a designated spot to go if you *didnt* wanna attend (it was in the gym and not auditorium to fit all the students), two kids walk in- i hide cause i thought they were security
one kid walks past me and looks down and jumps like 2ft back cause I scared the shit outta him by accident lmfao-
Jamestown is my childhood mall. I still live right down the street. It was so hard to drive by it, watching it rot. As for as demolition, they just finished tearing it all down last week. It didn't start until 2024. Great video as always guys!
I grew up in Hazelwood. Definitely breaks my heart. Spent a lot of time there.
In a world of Decaying midwests and stringer medias we really do appreciate the quality of content u guys have consistently put out
I cant stand the narrative they try to add to all of their stuff it's so annoying.
@@aelx69420mkay, don't watch then

You help me stay grounded sometimes in moments of anxiety because this has been the one consistent channel that has stayed the same since high school. Great content thanks yall
Ugh, that fade from the VHS effect to normal footage was so clean. You guys' production value is always through the roof. Definitely inspiring for a small studio like us!
Lmaoooooo you guys are calmer than I would be. Id be running around screaming "get them off me" but won't stand still long enough for anyone to help lol. I'm that annoying person haha. Then id smash face first into a wall and fall INTO the leeches. LOL
I think the Japan bunker trip taught you all the importance of wearing the PROPER clothing and equipment. You need to wear appropriate, waterproof, ankle-high boots and tuck or blouse your pants into them before delving into sketchy situations like that.
100%
They very often dont wear the proper safety gear for the place they are exploring. No hate at all from me by saying that. I love them. But it always worries me. They're going to get hurt or have long-term health problems 😕
I love this channel but their lack of proper equipment always gives me anxiety!
@@deannaruest6920pop a Xanax
@@shannonrickard8605 ikr. I feel like the amount of visible mold in the mall should have urged them to wear respirators.
Love this! It's like an unexpected bonus for February that's also a two-for-one in it's own right. Awesome!
Jamestown was my home mall growing up. All of the features (water fountains, benches, signs for the food court) are exactly the same as they were in the 90’s. The theater looks the same, except for the sign when it went 2nd run.
it's so crazy to be walking around in buildings and know that at some point in the future, all these shiny functioning places will one day be just like that mall
The black mold in Jamestown is insane. There are more recent videos where it got much worse, but the whole mall's gone now
My childhood mall! Every Santa photo was taken there. And my first Mac came from the Sears there in 1993!
They got good soundtrack with ambience of dealing with the past.
Honestly, I'd love to see more videos like this. Really cool being able to see videos in which your explorations didn't quite go as planned. It was also cool to basically get two Proper People explorations in one video.
those scrappers were so chill. I wish them the best.
Omg. Ww2 Japanese bunkers!! You guys continue to get better and better. This couldn't be more up my alley!
Oh man, I wish these after dark vids were longer...
Great content as always ❤
Those are house centipedes but we call them thousand leggers. Spider crickets are actually their enemy’s. I had both in my old basement. I put traps under the backless stairs so they didn’t get my legs while I was walking with a basket but they are both harmless, except to each other so I just let them have their civil war in my basement 😂
I had resident house centipedes in my last apartment. They kept the other 'bad' bug populations in check. Pretty cool animals.
House centipedes are good
When I had my lizard I just walked around the house with her in my hand 😂. I made sure she could eat it and if she could she did.
Yes, house centipedes clean up the bugs you don’t know about. Little creepy heroes 😆
I've got both them and silverfish in my childhood home...hate em both, but so long as they stayed in the basement I was good.
First part: Oh my GOOOOD, THAT'S SICK, I wanna go explore like that, the couple pointeing them in the right direction felt like characters helping you in a video game, that's SO COOOL.
Second part: Nevermind, I'm good.
😂
As long as it's not in Japan you're good I guess
watching you for about 5 years now. I'm a fan. I love your work.
Proper People mall exploration videos are like crack to me
I'm sorry, leeches? I would have run away screaming. 🤣
They will just attach, stay there awhile, and once full will drop off. :). They secrete an anesthetic so you don’t really feel them.
I guess they are like mosquitoes? But honestly me too LOL. Wait don't they carry any diseases with them?
when you guys saw the scrappers, i was worried they were going to do something bad to you guys, but i'm glad they didn't attack you guys!! 😅
They tend to be pretty cool with them exploring. Since both of them aren't supposed to be there.
@@wahlflower3517 yeah and it seems like neither the scrappers, or the proper people were expecting each other to be there. 😬
They seem like pretty nice people in the beginning. They are willing to help you and show you around.
As someone quite familiar with the St. Louis area, I started running old malls through my head "Crestwood, Mid-Rivers....JAMESTOWN!" Great footage!
its so weird seeing that mall, im glad you were able to see it before it was demoed completely. I remember spending every weekend in that mall wandering around to the different stores and watching movies with friends in that theater, to the right of that main entrance to the theater was the arcade. In the planters where crazy wild live plants and trees that at one point after it was closed made the place look like a jungle
I had to chuckle about the bugs. We have one of those centipedes (leggy things) wander up from our basement whenever it rains a lot. If they think, they probably react the way Michael did whenever they see one of us. lol
Man, i love this channel.
It gives me the feeling of early 2000s shows that i used to watch (especially the intro), but where the videos are HD.
I like how the music is used sparingly and not constantly throughout the video so you can get a feel of the atmosphere.
Love the style. Keep it up, guys.
Really enjoyed this, glad you got some use out this footage to get a video out of. Although i do remember the scrapper footage was shown on a q&a a few years ago.
Man, I've really been digging these kinds of videos the last few weeks or so. Exploring caves or abandoned buildings isn't something I ever plan to do, but something I do enjoy watching from the comfort of my bed.
Awesome video as always The Proper People. Ever place y'all explore never disappoints always some epic adventures in the Japanese Bucker you can really feel the history of it. Thanks for letting us walk along with y'all on y'all's adventures.
Nice. My wife and I stayed at the Richardson for our anniversary because of your videos. Another good one! Keep them coming!
14:46 I think it's really cool in the dark, the way it is lit makes it beautiful in a way
14:38 Favorite image from that video: the illuminated glass bricks! 🤗🤗
You know it's gonna be a good day when the Proper People upload a new video.
Thanks for posting these videos, its had a great impact on how I view architexture and building, please keep making these!
YOU NEED to find more Japanese Military stuff, I ADORE IT!!! as a WW2 fanatic its so intriguing, your filming what likely never has.
Pretty fun exploring the old WW2 ruins on Okinawa when I was stationed there in 2007-2009.
Looking forward to this! Love your work be safe y'all!
Love your content and appreciate the respect you show. Thanks and keep the excellent content coming!
Love your videos!! Always feels like I am there with you, exploring away!!
I went in that mall around the same time. The amount of mold is unbelievable. Creepiest place I've ever been
Glad to see another good video from you all. I’ve been watching since middle school (2015? Almost 10 fucking years!) so glad your alls intro has stayed the same, it is a banger. Your alls videos always got my friends and I out to explore and walk around our hometown for fun. There is something about these abandoned buildings and thinking about the life that used to live in them that just kinda touches my soul. We used to always try to break into this abandoned Sears but never found a way in. Either way I love you all!
These vids are always so cool, when you run into people and pick up like tips and stuff. It takes it into videogame-y territory, like youre on a quest and you run into locals who help guide you or give you a side quest you werent expecting to do (check out movie theater)
I would love to see more of these short explorations in a double feature. Was really fun to see the quirky stuff that usually doesn't make it into videos
That second part is superb. Thank you.
this is exactly what I needed on a double shift @ work always boring at night this will help! Thank's guys for all you do to bring us great content! Hopefully someday you guy's make it to sero-gordo mines. I run a big old Kaiser aluminum plant but I don't think it's haunted 😅 but is massive & abaonden
Scary! But cool! Thank you! Thank you! What a wonderful time I had traveling with you. The world is so amazing!
I’ve been watching you guys for like 11 years, and you always put out good content!
Going through an abandoned mall at night without lights turned on gets you that grainy video look that's really spooky ;D. Thanks for sharing these short excursions that don't go as planned - still very interesting to watch! I think I enjoyed the nature photography from Japan the most. I can almost feel the soft summer breeze against my face. Love dramatic coastal landscapes like that. Interestingly enough you can find similar coastal environment along the North-American west coast :).There's something about the pacific that seems to give rise to that kind of geology.
woohoo!!!! always love alerts from y'all!!!
WOOHOO A NEW PROPER PEOPLE VIDEO
This was really cool. Nice to see older "archive" footage like this!
I get so happy when I hear your theme music every time I watch one of your videos.
Those friendly people you encountered was wildly cool in that environment. Over here actually completing side quests.
I really liked seeing those cool bugs but the tons of isopods in the caverns were my highlight. It was awesome to see so many of them.
i grew up in ferguson/florissant area and this is the mall i went to. i used to ice skate in the rink there when i was a kid and it’s where the Blues practiced at one point. i knew it was abandoned but i haven’t been over by it in years, it’s wild to see how much it had fallen into disrepair (now fully demolished).
This is cool, especially the critter exploration - I call it CritEx.
Well, that sounds like some pest control product...😅
And the friendly neighborhood scrapper who gave you directions like a tour guide - was probably just relieved you weren't the cops. 😂
im gonna be honest this is the coolest one yet idk why but it is im surprised this didnt make it. its weird how nice the people you meet in these places are. thats unfortunate though never made it to the food court or well went back at all would have been interested to see this during the day just so wild
Isopod just chillin' 27:32
Been cozy for eons
@TheProperPeople I love that you guys are from Florida, and Micheal is freaked out over all those bugs. No lie, I think I'd rather come into contact w those critters over palmetto bug(s) flying at your head as you walk to your front door that's illuminated w a porch light, lol, thats my fearsome bug story. Well, that fat leech at the end was a wrap, good ending. Based on the comments I read, we would love to see more archives in addition to all of your epic explores!
Much love 🤙from Cocoa Beach.
Bryan & Micheal, have you ever been palm berry picking in central FL? Theres money to make, & places to explore, and lots of critters! Lol you guys are hilarious 😂
just wanted to say thank you for the disclaimer about the bugs!! as someone deeply afraid of them, thank you for letting me know beforehand that you would be showing them so i could avoid being spooked :)
Man, so sad! I went there with my grandparents as a kid. I remember that sculpture, and those giant planters with the benches around them!
Liked this episode very much, love the caves 😍
Those leggy bois in the cave are a type of house centipede! We have them in North America and Europe and are totally harmless. I loved the close-ups of all of the creatures you guys found.
This is awesome. Thank you!
Just like those dismantling the mall, you two are great a de-escalating
Malls built in KC and STL during the 80s had small, maybe 2-4 screen theaters inside. The last surviving mall in KC had its theater removed out of the mall sometime in the early 90s or late 80s; eventually being relocated to a stand-alone multi-screen theater next door; and ultimately being demolished to build either a Target or Academy Sports. Theaters changed a lot in this part of the country along with the rise of AMC - pre-AMC we used to have lots of independent and smaller chains (which is usually what was found in the smalls and stripmalls.)
That place was popping in the mid 80's ! I was ten years old! And i had a blast going to that mall!
Thank you very much for the video... I enjoyed it.
Loved the caves. Japan is just wild
Thanks for the upload
I love the encounter vids, they're spooky but fun
There is nothing better than when the proper guys release a new fresh video and a fresh kebab that I brought from the Turk is warming up on my table. So let's go :-)
I love this channel so much. Please don't ever stop. I've been in hundreds of abandon houses and a few schools and similar size abandon buildings. But you guys can capture the best stuff ever in the us. Not so much in Saskatchewan Canada haha.
At least you've found so many places. I don't know where enough abandoned buildings are to do so
That mall i went to ever weekend growing up in the 90s as a teen .great times sad to see it gone now , I remember going there and nothing but fields and farm land
I hear ya. My 90s mall is still there barely alive the outside looks great but inside is getting more and more empty every time I go. I tell my teenage nieces it didn't look anything like this in the 90s
Yeah for a while I thought that urbexing would be cool, but after seeing the part 2 I'm reconsidering my life choices.
I've run into snakes and spiders and some kind of large wild animal that I only heard and did not stop to look back at.
I haven't urbexed in a while, but it was something I'm glad I had a chance to enjoy. You just have to be careful, and be prepared for anything lol
omg
been so long since ive whatched this chanell
and its still just as perfect as before
I need to waste 40 minutes and Proper People drop this!
I would be so creeped out at the second half of the video lol I appreciate your hard work in making these videos.
Y'all are truly the best at this...
I love when you guys deviate from the usual format and show us some of the explorations that didn’t turn out as planned!
I have known you for years now, you are now like family friends who periodically take me around the world with their adventures
You guys really should of showed up at Jamestown Mall a couple years ago. This was by far my favorite abandoned mall because of how long certain parts of the mall have been abandoned for almost 2 decades and you can really see the dilapidation.
love the mall videos :)
I LOVE THE MALL VIDEOS
great stuff guys !!!!
You were lucky with the people you met. They were not hostile and, as it seems, quite nice. Could have been much worse. Interesting video with two completely different parts. Always fun to watch your videos and follow what you do.
The caves you captured are great, and the sceney too. The number of bugs is a big nope for me lol
Grew up in the STL area, went to Jamestown a lot. So wild to see it like this. I went to a dang street fighter 4 tournament at the movie theater there around 2011ish
We got an encounter just like this with scrappers at an abandoned hospital here in omaha. love to see it
