I was interested in getting these as a pair to use as home theater speakers. Can these be used as HT speakers? If so how would I connect them to the TV?
What headphones would you recommend for mixing ?
I donât like mixing in headphones but I use the Sterling 452s. However, if youâre serious Iâd suggest you get something more expensive likeâŠ.Audeze. You need something that will properly reproduce the sounds without much coloring like Beats headphones.

How do these compare with presonus studio 8 or eris xt 8?
I actually own both⊠Iâm tossed on which is better. They really sound about the same. I do like that I get more options with the Harbingers.
I have the E7XT and I tested the 505s today. I think the 505s have much smoother bass and more crisp highs on the ânormalâ mode, and they sounded pretty honest on the Reference mode. Thinking about buying the 508s this week after doing a demo honestly.

@coryreese4626 I ended up trying the newer presonus studio 8 monitors and 505. They are both good and serve their purposes. The 505 lacks some headroom for me, and lack some stereo imaging compared to my jbl305s. But they aren't bad, and i use it for my small untreated office space which tends to overwhelm the bass frequencies. I tried the 508s at guitar center, and it's a lot louder than the 505s. Using just the bluetooth function, the bass was kind of loud, but i could be wrong. I would definitely recommend the 508 over the 505, unless you use a small space. I would stay 6 feet away from 8 inch monitors, or it will fatigue your ears. Ultimately, I picked the presonus studio 8 over the 508s because I use them for guitar plugins and making my guitar amp stereo, and it serves that purpose very well. It also has more wattage. You should try them both to see what's best for you. The presonus is a hundred dollars cheaper for a pair, and with that 100 dollars, you could buy the presonus Microstation if you really wanted bluetooth! Either way, I think they are both good options.
@@drjay927 since I already have the E7XT which are quite similar to the new Studio series, I was either considering Presonus Pro8 or these 508 which would be 200 less per monitor. I wasnât able to test the 505s as a pair in-store so I couldnât judge the stereo imaging for myself though. I produce hip hop and rap so for me the bass heavy response on the Normal mode is precisely what I need while Iâm producing, then switch to reference once itâs time to mix. I find myself over-compensating on 808s and bass lines with the Presonus quite a bit.
