- After Twin Lakes we hit Leadville! Tina took a zero there so we spent a good amount of time hanging out and eating there. We also went to the famous Melanzana store! After we felt the material we both wanted one so the hunt was on.

We absolutely love Colorado. One of our sons lives in Avon which is off of the I-70 next to Vail, so I have 5 Melanzanas bought throughout the years. I took one on me LASH of the PCT in 21. I love all 5 of my Mellys and Oliveoyl loves her 4 Mellys. Ben there is really nice. The newer Melly is a little different. I have 2. They are a little different in material and the size is a little larger. Regardless They are all good. One of my subscribers asked to do an update on the Melenzanas, haven't gone around to it. Absolutely love them. A lot of the locals or near locals have them and wear them because they were originally made for locals and that environment. Love your videos, thanks for sharing.

I have the same color Melly. I was so excited when I 'won' the right to buy one but I've since decided it is not something I'll be bringing with me on my PCT attempt. It is still nice for casual wear when the weather is cooler.
Yep, for the PCT it may fold too bulky. I'd wear it for long term winter or cold hiking though. I'm just concerned with its hang dry recommendation since it's so much easier drying everything together at once.

Enjoy the clear skies and the wet weather while you can. The entire PNW has smoky skies, and most of the PNW has extreme fire levels. Our area hasn't had any measurable precipitation since April. I worry about the air quality for the thru-hikers.
It was really smoky in the Yellowstone area as well but a lot of it cleared up. With a change of wind direction it could change at any day. Montana seems to have fires sprinkled all over the place. We've been using Gaia to track active fires.

what happened to posting your gps info on campsites and such? It's helpful to know where there is dispersed/boondocking. We know several around there as well as some that are actually off limits, so the info helps--one of the reasons I watch you and Tristan and not others. Thanks for your efforts overall tho!
I was just in the Leadville area and was told that I had to have a reservation and the soonest I could get one was 5 days out. Do you know a special hand shake???? Great drone images.
Wow! That's a bummer because many hikers didn't even want one until they saw and felt them. They said they send their rejected ones to a store just down the street, Community Threads, but when we went there they had nothing. Likely as soon as they get any they sell out as well.
I wasn't allowed to purchase anything and their shelves were packed. There were two special events happening in a couple days so maybe they were stocking up for them. On the up side, the micro grid was bulkier than I had expected so layering will be a better option with my smaller pack.
Sorry, you didn't get your hands on a hoodie! Make sure to book an appointment next time you're in the area enjoying the mountains. We think appointment shopping is a massive bummer for spontaneous trips but was a necessary evil. Before appointment shopping, every day was like Black Friday with mobs of people and empty shelves. @@melanzanaleadville2403 thanx forgot the reachout. I had finished RAGBRAI and was heading back to California. I actually got to your store just as it closed. I tried to get a hotel but all were sold out for a big cycling event. I had to go down to Eagle to get a room. The next day is when I found out about appointments only. So I tucked my tail between my legs and headed home, only to have the freeway closed due a landslide. I had to reroute back towards Denver and take the highway through Steamboat. After many hundreds of miles (and dollars) of back tracking I made it back towards my home. If I stayed on my original plan through Nebraska and Wyoming I would have saved a couple days. If there was a note on your home page saying appointments only, that would have been nice.
