    Dearly Bethany's style course is quite literally one of the best investments I've made in/for myself in years. I loved loved loved it. I am forever changed, in the best way possible. I've never thought about my hero self before ... never given myself permission to dream and explore and reflect and claim my inner style and feel powerful. It sounds like a cliché, but you'll see. Since finishing the course, my clothing purchases are in line with my true style(s) and I no longer make purchase mistakes. I feel good about my style and I love having the new knowledge and confidence. You won't be Dearly Bethany ... you'll be you, on whatever path you're on. (I work from home. Doesn't matter.) I highly recommend the course. Take some time and believe in yourself all over again. Worth every penny. Don't rush through the segments though, take time to listen to the lesson and consider it from the perspective of your own life. Think about what made you feel joyful when you were a child, too. What a gift.

    I love my neutrals ... I am a Navy, Silver Grey, White lady. I do however have two areas of colour .... A rainbow collection of cashmeres and fine knit merino (from cardigans to wraps) and a number of very good quality silk scarves (primarily Liberty or Chanel). On a dull damp day slipping that periwinkle blue silk scarf around the neck of my navy wool coat can really up the mood!
    Am on the list waiting for the next course and look forward as an early retired lady (I am 55) to finding my way in the casual instead of career world.

    Your videos are the reason that I've started "investing" in clothes and shoes instead of bargain buying. I am now using more money on clothes and shoes, but I am also only buying things I know I'll wear and that will last me a long time, so I am also wasting less money on clothes and shoes that I end up not wearing much.

    The point you made on the contrast of your hair to your skin in a black and white photo is brilliant! I have not heard that point made before and it makes perfect sense. It makes selecting your neutral that much easier. I took your course so I already had the information on the skin undertone to know if you should have warm neutral or cool neutral, but this last point, pinpoints it even further. Thank you!

    I like neutrals as the basis for my wardrobe but as I’m getting older I’ve started to introduce a bit of colour as I’ve noticed people who wear some colour near their face look more fresh and young. I definitely can no longer wear black.

  • @stupor_mundi
    @stupor_mundi Před 2 lety +8

    I can see how a neutral wardrobe is more cost effective. Even if you spend more on each article, everything is cohesive so you get more wear out of each piece, more possible combinations and all that taking less space. Also, in the past I didn't use to think so much about using texture to create interest in an outfit, and now I focus a lot on that and it's definitely a fool-proof way to look smart, I wish I had always known that! :)

    Looking at color season theory was a big help to me in understanding neutrals, because there are so many variations in the neutrals to consider. Gray isn't just gray; for example, there are shades of gray from very pale to charcoal, and from bluish gray to grays with a touch of yellow for warmth. Navy isn't just navy; there's bright navy, midnight navy, grayed navy, light navy. White can be bone, cream, snow, or ivory. Beige can be dark camel, light tan, khaki, or taupe, etc. Most people can wear most neutrals. It's just a matter of finding the right variation for them.

    I am a bright winter and I know I can pull off those bright colors but I wore only black for years. Started playing with the bright colors and now all I want is grey, white, black and even some dark cool browns lol I think it goes to say that the colors that you wear should align with your personality as well and my personality is very introverted but wild around people that I know which is how I feel about neutrals, like they are secure, dependable but you can still have some fun 😂 I enjoy what you said about handbags and jewelry which is so true. I alternatively am very high contrast but I’m very attracted to creams as well, but pairing with dark denim and textured shoes to create more contrast overall.

    There are some very saturated shades that look AMAZING on me. I don't think any of the trouble of putting wardrobe pieces together could make me give them up. But limiting my color palette and incorporating more neutrals has been a game changer. And when I wear neutrals, I try my best to stick with the warmer tones, which is something I learned only recently that's been very helpful.

And then it depends on what neutral works best since not every neutral works for me. Neutrals are crisp, easy(er) -- yes I know not grammatically correct lol
    And neutrals still look great! Boring my ass lmao
    I struggled to begin with putting outfits together and not knowing what styles textures that go together, or if something it too casual up top/fancy on bottom or vice versa. . Throwing in colors is too much if you're overwhelmed to begin with.

    Neutrals are never boring. I’m leaning towards more neutrals these days. It’s classic and I can style with minimal jewelry.

    I have a cheap wardrobe, like a cheap univ wardrobe. But when i was introduced to neutrals a couple of years ago, all the clothes i invest in just have to be neutrals. They are amazing and looks so simply sophisticated in a way. And the way one carries herself with neutrals makes them stand out because it looks naturally elegant 🤍

    I used to like all the bright types of colors you know like red, yellow but as soon as I grew up I started to opt for more soothing colors and now I am 22 yr old but instead of choosing a trendy color, neutrals are becoming my choice cause they look subtle,peaceful,eye-soothing and it makes me look more older than i am😅which i like alot

    I get so paralyzed by picking a color! What will I wear more? What will I want? FOMO for the other color? What will go with more things? ….the neutral wardrobe is something that could help me massively.

    I see trends and colors as the sprinkles to a sundae-fun to play around with, but definitely not necessary (for me at least). I’m like Bethany-I love seeing influencers in bright color blocked outfits, but it doesn’t suit my personal style, what I feel comfortable in, and what I’m trying to convey in the world. I’ve gotten to the point where I have a huge wardrobe of workhorse classics primarily in neutral colors (all of which I wear regularly) and I love these items dearly. There are a few investment pieces that I would still like to add, but overall my wardrobe feels very complete for most seasons. So now I feel like I “get to” experiment with a trend I’m interested in (if I see it having long-term viability) or a few new colorful pieces and combinations here and there. But it’s so much easier and more enjoyable for me to do so knowing I have the wardrobe built on foundational pieces already in place. Another thing I’ve noticed for myself recently but it’s so well known that it’s a cliché at this point: trends are cyclical, so just buy what you like regardless of whether it’s what everyone else is or is not wearing. Going through the 2022 trend forecasts for this year, I found that I already owned most of the things the industry is recommending because they were items that I’ve loved for myself for years. Things like this make me feel proud of the wardrobe I’m creating, for its highly sustainable nature in addition to its ability to represent me well.

    • @traceye.6428
      @traceye.6428 Před 2 lety

      You would probably look best in cool undertone neutrals, think a cool tones like a charcoal gray. The charcoal is like the jewel tones of the neutral world. You wouldn’t do well with a muddy charcoal. It needs to be a crisp blue toned darker charcoal. I hope that makes sense. You could also do a light gray, with a blue undertone.
