Consider that Israel is wealthy and western and so many Muslim countries have a pre-made in their religious book reason to latch on to their jealousy and envy. Would there be a problem if Israel was some poor, defunct country? Essentially, it isn't that Judaism plays no role, but the big role is money and human weakness.
