So i'm pretty surprised by the low score for Lightlife. I've had most of the dogs/sausages you reviewed, and the LightLife ones are my favorite. Mostly because they remind me of the cheap oscar meyer and generic hot dogs I loved as a kid. When I cook the Impossible Brat indoors, I wrap it up in aluminum foil and put it on the rack in the oven at 375° for about 18-20 minutes. This seems to keep all of the juices inside and firm up the casing as well. I am addicted to these!
Related, I feel like Impossible might make the casing loose in order to facilitate being able to easily slice it off before cooking if you're planning on using the brat as an ingredient in other dishes. I know the Beyond casing can be problematic to peel away sometimes

The best hot dogs used to be the Morningstar Farms. Kroger Simple Truth has great sausages but not proper hot dogs. The light life jumbos taste better than the smart dogs.
Tamsin Noyes had the best vegan hot dog recipe of all time.
I love chili dogs so this is the reason I have so much weird expertise.

I cook LightLife a specific way in oil that makes them taste really good and actually reminds me of the good ol’ days. Some of these other ones are too expensive for that cheap taste I’m looking for, and all i get is vital wheat gluten.

Back when I gave up meat, I tried Lightlife, couldn't bear it. Resigned myself to the idea that I'd have to wait a few years for something better. Tried each brand as it came out, then finally hit the jackpot with the Stadium Dogs. Thank goodness for the Stadiums, cuz I can't live without my coney dogs :)

The only ones I've tried are the LightLife and Beyond Sausages. LightLife doesn't taste like real meat, but I still kinda dig it when I want to eat something that has that processed sort of taste like a hot dog. Beyond Sausages, however, are an absolute favorite and I'd get them all the time if my local grocery store carried them.

You should be able to find Worthington/Loma Linda franks in your area. Give them a try. Don’t expect a “real hot dog” flavor, but just a good frank - make sure the label says vegan because they offer vegetarian and vegan

I only have luck with the lightlife dogs when I cook them in the oven on tin foil! Basically just let it blow up a little like a balloon around 350 degrees then take them out. It’s hard to explain when to take them out. Trial and error so they aren’t too crisp and not under cooked

@Dorian Gray no, what I do is I get paper towels and barely wet them and wrap the bun in them and put them in the microwave for about 15-30 seconds.
