- Ryan and I randomized our pokemon startersin pokemon scarlet and violet but theres a twist! We won’t be choosing our starters! We will have to blindly pick our pokemon being given 2 truths and a lie! Then Once we have our pokemon we will ask Chat GPT to build our pokemon moves and abilities for us and then once we both have a team of 6 we will have a 6v6 competitive Pokemon battle!

Gonna be honest, not a huge fan of the limited move pool from ChatGPT… I guess it’s to guarantee some damaging moves, but almost all the Pokémon share the same move 🙂↕️

I'm a math teacher who taught statistics, and the odds of asking for "random" moves and pulling Flamethrower, Thunderbolt, Ice Beam... as much as both of you did, and asking for "random" abilities and both getting Torrent and Levitate (or Intimidate... one, the other, or both showed up on each team) demonstrates that the random pull was not random at all.

Okay, I love this idea, but God, I hate how same-y the moves sets are from ChatGPT. I wonder if there isn't a way to make a mod of it that pulls from the complete move lists available in S&V. Sorry, idk how any of this really works, haha.
I believe you should be able to, but you need to change the prompt. I've seen chatgpt do lots of things with game mechanics even ones that aren't in vanilla gameplay for other video games. You just need to understand how to word your questions and help chatgpt focus on certain things. I've tried using the prompt in this video, but if you add additional requests chatgpt will focus on them. Like if you say competitively viable, common moves like Dragon Dance, Scald, Knock Off, etc appear. If you say the moves can be weak and strong, moves like splash, tackle, peck, etc can appear with good moves. If you say that legendary moves can be used, it'll give you just a list of legendary moves. I'm sure if I or anyone else kept playing around with the prompts we could find a prompt that will give the most desirable random list of moves.
So far I think the best prompt I have used is probably this one "Give me four random Pokemon moves, the moves should be competitively viable, you can choose moves from any Pokemon's learnset". It doesn't seem like legendary moves appear, but the moves I saw in a few uses of this seemed better than the ones in the video. I do think there's a better one, but I don't feel like trying a bunch of prompts. Chatgpt at least the basic level that people use for CZcams is free so you can try this yourself if you're curious.
ChatGPT only knows up through Sword & Shield. Still doesn't explain why it kept giving the same moves over and over.
ChatGPT isn't a randomizer, it will ALWAYS give answers that could fit the question without questioning its logic. So it picks what it finds mostly in texts regarding pokemon moves, hence EQ, Shadow Ball, Thunderbolt, Flamethrower. Basic strong moves, often cited.

I feel like getting random moves would be more interesting than chatGPT going unga bunga only giving out damage and t-wave. The problem is that the ai wasn't programed to do any kind of random number generation. shoulda at least used the normal ability randomizer because the abilities it chose did nothing.

It was a good idea in concept, but Chat GPT is too limited. It would be better to go by the index numbers while using a random number generator for attacks and abilities
For the next video. Ask it to give you a numbered lists of all the moves and abilities in gen 9 ( or just give it one yourself if that doesn't work. ) Then ask it to give you a number between one and however many moves / abilities there are.
Hopefully that'll make it more diverse
Chat gpt isn't a random number generator, that's the problem with giving it the same prompt over and over again.
Giving it more context will help it produce differing outputs. So, rather than ~"give me 4 random Pokemon moves", a more functional prompt would be along the lines of "Give my _____ a moveset of four Pokemon moves and a Pokemon ability"
That would tie the abilities and the moves together to some extent, and would allow the Pokemon itself to inform the moveset, essentially seeding the prompt (which should lead to greater variance).
Was thinking that too. Instead of GPT just use a random number generator and then reroll if the move isn't in the game. I wanna see some shuckle with body press type of setups.
Next video I would find or create a random move and ability generator with settings for moves that are definitely in Gen 9, ChatGPT basically only knows popular media moves without expanded prompts.

For the next video I’d give it the pokemon and tell it to pick the moves, abilities, IVs, and held items for all the pokemon while knowing what the pokemon is. You get much better results that just telling it to generate random results

You can make chatGPT bettee by feeding it the list of uodated moves and abilities from gen 9. I think its data set for 3.5 is from middle lf 22 so it wouldnt have the most up to date moves and abilities. It would also nake it more diverse
Alternatively, you can rell it to give you something that it hasn't already given you.
Funny thing Veluza is actually an amazing pokemon lol super fast physical attacker with one of its abilities buffing slicing movies which is about 4-6 of his movies and I think 2 of them are stab soooooo powerful

I think it would. Chat GPT isn't a random number generator. It produces what it predicts should come next, but it does that based on what you've provided it. Giving it a starting point, an initial Pokemon, will help it provide a more diverse and appropriate pool of movesets & abilities.

@ACraven if you ask chatgpt to give a pokemon a random ability it just gives you its best already available ability. Ask Blaziken for rando ability it says speed boost. It said Drizzle for Kyogre.

Please be assured I enjoy watching your videos normally, but I must express I'm not particularly wild about videos which use generative A.I., including ChatGPT. Its limitations cause it to feel clunkier than simply randomizing everything as you would traditionally. Dylan also uses ChapGPT for content now and then, and I don't like it when he does it, either. You could call gen-A.I. a personal ick as both an artist and writer. For all your other content, I owe you thanks; they've been fun, and I've noticed your making efforts to improve.
