07-02-24 Listening from Southern Ontario, Canada, 43* N. Happy to hear John Beal’s voice again! I first came to know him when I saw him in a movie with William Powell and Myrna Loy, “Double Wedding” in the early to mid -1930’s. As a young actor, I thought him very sweet and boyish, and he exuded a lovely innocence ! Last two days have been lovely and cool. All the previous warm weather has blessed the growth of my romaine lettuces, so I’ve shared some with the neighbours. I have an understanding with our wild rabbit : I share my carrots with her and her baby, and so far she stays away from my lettuces! We celebrate our Country’s “independence” every year on July 1st - and there were lots of fireworks all around as “Canada Day” was celebrated early last evening - a celebration of our freedoms and rights we live under, and enjoy in today’s world. Hope everyone sleeps well tonight, and may all your dreams find a way to come true ! I really enjoyed the show, thanks again to the goodness of our nightly host, Sir Edge of Nightfall ! Oh, my gosh ! That is hotter by degrees than we have had! We did have 93* for two days. Our humidity is our biggest problem I think. We are close enough to the Great Lakes and their effect on our weather. Hope you are doing well. Hello to Smokey, ❤☺! I hope the hot weather isn’t too hard on him. So far we’ve had no problems to do with power outages or lack of water, but the humidity can be bad. We’ve had days and nights with humidity at 88%. We are using the water that is normally discarded by the air conditioner/furnace and running it off into a collection system for 10 litre jugs instead of in the ground. On really bad days we get up to 22-25 litres of water about every 12 hours, which I use to help water the garden. There is enough outside to keep me busy, so I haven’t done any baking other than just what we need. I felt badly for our neighbours next door the other day, and so I offered to cut their grass and did their weeding around the house. I know they appreciate it. She had recovered pretty well from her stroke, last year, but I know she has her bad days, and her husband had been in the hospital last fall - he nearly died with diabetes he didn’t know he had. HAPPY CANADA DAY MISS LYNN.🎉. I work on our 4th of July. It's okay, because our holidays are an excuse to drink and amateur drinking and driving. Drinking and driving isn't good though. Ie enjoy watching the fireworks sometimes. The best I have seen have been at Disneyland. I have a desire to go back but not enough time nowadays. I can picture your property, ranch, farm however you may call it. I enjoy hearing about all the new life that surrounds you. I did get your last response. Thank you friend. Hi, Catherine ! So good to hear from you ! I know you work hard, long hours ! Hope you get some time off that you don’t have to use just for sleep ! I remember when I started working, I always seemed to have two jobs. I worked as a secretary in a school during the day, and taught cooking at a night school class. When I look back, I don’t know how I had enough time for everything and my family. I sewed my own clothes and for my family members. I always use to make my mother-in-law a nice flannel nightgown for Christmas! As far as having a ranch or a farm, I’m afraid it is much less, but I appreciate it all! I put carrots out for the mother bunny and her growing baby every late afternoon. I’m hoping if she eats those, she won’t eat my nice fresh flowers ! Hope you and your loved ones have a good holiday 🎉🇺🇸, however you spend it ! I went to Disneyland, California, in 1959, when it had been opened for 4 years - I really enjoyed that! My grandmother took me for my birthday! I love hearing from you, anytime, thank you my friend and take care ! 🙏❤🫠🤗
