  • In this lesson I cover greeting and goodbyes.
    words used:
    "Здравствуйте" - Hello
    "Привет" - hi
    "Как у тебя дела?" - how are things? (informal)
    "Как у вас дела?" - how are things? (formal / plural)
    "Как вы поживаете?" - how are things? (formal)
    "Как ты/вы?" - how are you?
    "Хорошо" - good
    "а у тебя?" - and you?
    "Плохо" - bad
    "Нормально" - ok
    "До свидания" - goodbye
    "Пока" - bye

    'Дела' literally means business, affairs. So, 'Как дела?' literally means how is your business/affairs. But this word used here in a widest sense, meaning how are you doing, in general.

    Hi, I'm learning russian too, and what I've seen is in the case of 'как у вас дела?' Is that 'у' indicates owning, like saying 'have' in english, and 'bac' correspond to the formal you

      Hmm maybe 'как у вас дела' could be translated as 'how are being your buisseness?' Edit: 'how are the bussiness that you have?'
