  • I got my hands on a 1990 Nissan R31 Skyline.
This one was the first one to have the RB series engine. Here in Australia it came with 3.0 Litre RB30 Inline Six engine. Which makes 114 kW@5200 RPM and 247 Nm of torque @3600 RPM.
The car came with either a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmission.

My Grandfather had a dark blue skyline executive 3.0
These cars were a fantastic reliable car and as long as no issues with the differential happened were comfortable and economical.
    😎👍

I have a 1989 executive, exactly the same model, trim and colour as this. Best car ive owned. I converted the transmission to manual out of an r32 gts-t and even though its 26yrs old, its such a fun car to drive!

Love your videos, keep them coming...Any chance you could do a review on on the following cars:
    1. R31 Nissan Skyline that is fitted with a manual transmission (Silhouette or Silhouette GTS Series 3)
    2. R31 Nissan Skyline Series 3 Ti.
I have a manual series 3 silo and I'm a big fan of these cars in terms of the engine and reliability.

***** What you say is exactly right the manual r31's are rare and that is why a lot if people buy them and convert them to manual. The rb30 and the 5 SPD manual are an awesome combination. And with the LSD its even more fun. If you are ever in Melb with your camera let me know and u can review mine. Its all original no modifications. I don't think showing people an executive with auto trans does these cars justice even if their interiors look bland and dated and boxy. Keep the videos coming your knowledge of cars is awesome.....

i knew they were a good car. i've been driving nissans since the early 80's. eleven years ago, i borrowed my brother's skyline for a month. "fuck, what a car". every roundabout was neatly turned into a square or triangle. i was desperate to get my own-it has to be a wagon. they had become rare. i got one. i'd be sitting at lights and i'd hang onto the wheel and say "fuck i love this car". i bought a stagea to replace it. no-one was really interested in buying the skyline(it had got pretty run down- i treated it like a ute) so i ended up keeping it and glad i did. the stagea is great but the skyline is better.

Skylines are great. I also had a R32 GTS-T and loved that car. As you said, it had enormous amount of grip on corners.
For a wagon Stagea is pretty good.

er, i think you misunderstood. the arse end is very light enabling me to easily flick it out and keep the nose pointing where i want it. technically it's called oversteer and it's how i like to drive it. except when there's coppers around. the springs and dampers were shot when i got it and they're still shot. i never had the money to get new stuff. there will come a time when i do, and a comp front sway bar (they need it) and instead of me adapting my driving style to a car that had a fat american car wallow on the open road, i'll have the responsive unit like my brother's car. he sold it to a bloke who came all the way from qld to melbourne to get it. it was a silhouette. a friend's parents have a sedan they prefer to use for visiting the relatives in the bush. the lexus stays at home.

Supreme car, but their Achilles odd their diff made by Borg Warner Australia, which develop noise easily. Nissan just replaced then no questions asked, even after warranty ran out.

That one is not a JDM. Its for UK I believe. JDMs a way less ugly.
The last year of production of that R31 was 1988.

    • @redsun4187
      @redsun4187 Před 2 lety

It's not JDM, and not UK, it's australian. Last production year of R31 was 1989 in Japan and 1990 in Australia. Only australian R31's (and Pintaras) came with RB30 engines.
