- This was an awesome and mentally exhausting hunt. Waiting day after day just for a glimpse of a wolf staring and thinking you are seeing things when really you aren't. We also set out snares for the wolves at another location and ultimately that was how I was successful. My hunting partner managed to shoot one wolf and had a chance at another but opportunities for this species are few and far between. In a week of hunting I managed to snare two wolves and shoot three coyotes not too bad for a predator hunt!

The sheer size of those wolves are absolutely incredible. I wish someone would just show how tall theybare with a dog of some kind so we get to see the comparison. Just beauties.
I got my wolf taxidermy back. We have a dog about the size of a golden retriever and the wolves I got are almost 3X the size of her. A mature male wolf is easily 3X + that size. I tried to get a side by side picture but my dog freaked out. I might try to get a good side by side comparison once Honey is more comfortable around the wolf taxidermy.
@@TheOffGridHunter Wow that's insane. Yeah that would be fantastic if you did a size comparison when you can of course, maybe also do a quick video of it to show the viewers. But love your videos wolves are my favorite animals and great to see what you guys do.
Having a coyote show up on a wolf hunt...I know that feeling lol. When they are asking for it you gotta serve them the pill.
Ya I saw so many coyotes that week I was doing my best to lay off the trigger. This pair stuck around so long I couldn’t help myself. It’s a mentally tough hunt watching an empty field in the blind all day so a guy needs to be more disciplined than me and just let the coyotes pass but none the less a lot of fun! I wouldn’t mind going up there one time just to specifically target coyotes, best fur I have ever seen on a coyote was up there!

I know how lucky I was! The wolf is one of the hardest animals to hunt! Incredibly smart, and very calculating. I never had any animal test my patience like a wolf before! I look back at our hunting pictures often! Thanks for the comment!

They weren't too bad weight wise, just long tall and lanky, not to mention stink like nothing you can imagine!
they generally weigh about 70-80 lbs, the female that was shot is probably about 60 lbs. But at the same time, the height and visual volume, like a huge dog weighing 160 pounds.
Nice results...can you snare (trap) all you want? or do you have a limit?
For Wolves it is unlimited. You would never catch enough to do damage to the population though.

@@gerarduspoppel2831 wolves are fast, cunning and smart the doo doo was the exact opposite combined with modern game management and monitoring practices I doubt the wolf would ever be at risk of extinction from hunters historically it took poison to decimate the wolf populations

Hey buddy how come you spread so Much sent all over your snares by setting them with bare hands?
Great question, most trappers are very big on scent control on their traps, Kyler has found with wolves it doesn't matter what you do they can still smell you. He has found from experience that the key is to stay off the trail they used and come in from the side and second camouflage the wire with a bit of brush so the outline of the wire is broken up. As you saw in the video I caught 2 with the snares and Kyler has snared over 200 wolves. If he was more cognoscente abought scent control he may have been able to catch more over the years but he is successful enough at it that he finds it unnecessary. Also the week after we left that same set snared more wolves so it didn't seem to affect things much.
