The Alberts, McCabes and the rest are despicable people and never thought Karen would hire such awesome attorneys. And it's the prosecution that needs to pick up the pace. They are painfully slow and haven't proven anything.
You may be right, very right, yet I doubt any prosecutor "proves anything" in the first week two weeks of a trial with as many witnesses as these two teams have secured for questioning.

This defense is disgraceful. They have one task. Prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the defendant did not commit the crime. That’s it. Just give the facts to the jury, rebuttal witnesses, and sit down. There is enough evidence to create reasonable doubt without muddying the waters with a conspiracy theory. I wouldn’t count on the public’s distrust of the police when someone’s life is on the line. Reckless, unethical, self indulgent, and damaging. It’s like they’re asking to lose. Even though I doubt she did this, I will be shocked if she’s found not guilty.
The defense has not yet presented their case, only cross examination, wait until defense presents their case and shows their evidence and then we can judge, but for now only one side is up to prove their evidence.
Actually, you're dangerously incorrect. The defense has to prove nothing. Zero. ESP not beyond a reasonable doubt. Think about it, how does one prove something they DIDN'T do? It's the prosecution who alleges she's a criminal, so it is the prosecution who must prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the defendant did in fact commit the crime. If they don't clear that bar, the jury is instructed that the defense wins. The only job of the defense is to create said reasonable doubt by any means necessary. In that regard, I'd say the defense is nailing it.

By doing this, they have now created their own burden of more or less showing how that defense might have operated or could be believed to have happened. In other words, they created their own burden that they would ordinarily NOT have, as you say.
The judge is half the reason this trial is taking so long.
It's a big job to uphold the laws. Especially when the defense is set on pushing the boundaries. Both sides are asking ridiculous questions!!!
