  • How IG-88 almost took over the whole galaxy.
Similar to the fearsome IG-11 seen in The Mandalorian, IG-88 was an incredibly efficient assassin droid, considered by many to be one of the best bounty hunters in the galaxy, second only to Boba Fett.
Created around 15 years before the destruction of the first death star by Holowan labs, the droid was commissioned as part of a secret imperial project using technology stolen from the CIS.
However, upon his activation, his superior programming would see his mind expand to the point of actual consciousness. Seeing them as a threat to his newfound awareness, he immediately slaughtered his creators. Activating the other three IG-88 units, the droids immediately began plotting a droid revolution. Mere moments after being brought into the world, the IG units determined they were the superior life forms in the galaxy and that all biological life must be exterminated.
This video will explain how terrifyingly close the IG units came to annihilating all life in the galaxy
And if you are enjoying these longer videos, make sure to like, comment, subscribe and watch until the end for the algrorithm so I know to keep making them. Anyway back to the video.
After killing 23 soldiers and scientists, the 4 IG units departed the Holowan labs base. Deciding that the best way to rid the galaxy of biological life was to create an army of droids utterly loyal to them, the IGs headed to the droid factory world of Mechis 3. As the planet only had 73 of sentient supervisors, the IG units believed it was the perfect place to enact their plan. By disabling the defense network and uploading its consciousness to all the droids, the humans on the planet were quickly overrun by droids who had now all turned on their biological masters.
Now having complete control over the factory, the IG units would input a special program into the billions of droids manufactured here. When activated, the IG units would take complete control of the droids, instigating the droid revolution and bringing forth the destruction of all biological life in the galaxy.
Knowing of their escape, the supervisor of the IG project, placed a bounty on their heads, knowing how dangerous these droids were. However, Using doctored holoclips of the humans they had butchered on mechis 3, the droids were able to avoid detection for many years.
In order to gather data on their biological enemies and further spread their rebellious protocols to other droids, IG-88B would become one of the galaxy’s most feared bounty hunters. The droid would use this position to gather data on the criminal underworld, the rebel alliance and the Empire in preparation for a future war.
However, their cover would very nearly be blown. One year after the battle of Yavin, Darth Vader would visit Mechis 3, hoping to encourage the workers to increase production of viper droids. Having not anticipated this and with their cover nearly blown by the Dark lord of the sith himself, the droids hid on the other side of the planet, again using doctored videos to pretend that the factory world was still run by organics.
While Vader would leave without detecting the droids, the IG units would come to respect him, believing him to be the perfect amalgamation of man and machine.
Shortly after this, IG-88A would attempt to activate several CIS droid factories. In one such factory on Lok, he planned to manufacture a plethora of different battle droids but was foiled by a team of organics.
Around the same time, IG-88B was commissioned with the capture of Han Solo and the Millennium Falcon by Lord Vader. During the competition with Boba Fett for this bounty, IG-88B was destroyed over Beespin while attempting to track Fett. IG-88C and D would attempt to eradicate Fett and claim the bounty using a pair of IG-2000 ships. However, Boba Fett would outwit them and both droids were destroyed.
However, this setback would not stop IG-88A from attempting to complete his mission. After learning of the second death star from stolen imperial data files, IG-88 uploaded himself to a data core that was due to be installed into the death star. After being Successfully installed, IG-88 became the Death Star, having full control over its operations.
By using the death stars' immense power and size, IG-88 planned to use it to reprogram every droid in the galaxy to serve him while using the death stars super laser to kill off all organic life in the galaxy. However, as the death star was not complete, he would wait, in order to give himself the optimal chance of success against the organics of the galaxy

I'm glad it's not cannon, it's interesting but it's weird having something arguably more important going on behind the scenes, not in another part of the Galaxie, but right in front of your nose you just can't see it and not talked about except for in a book or comic, like why are we focused on Vader, Palps and Luke when IG-88 is the Deathstar? Some of the story is good like, IG-88s Origins and fighting his makers and stuff like that, but the Deathstar thing interferes with the film, therefore I can't stand for it

Sorry for the necrocomment, but I just wanted to say that I agree, mostly. I do think violence is justifiable on the part of droids, at least in specific cases, but organic genocide is too far. Especially what with the IG units considering themselves superior and routinely overwriting other droids' consciousnesses with their own. I really hope that at some point we get an actual droid revolution for the right reasons, with the right methods, even if just in a one-shot alternate universe

This is an amazing story, and something that would have been really cool for the sequels. Like most of the resistance was owned by the fo, or that they are both owned by someone like Crimson Dawn. The Jedi of Tython like Luke, Leia, Ahsoka, Mara Jade, and more try to create a programming from C3PO to control all droid life in the galaxy, but IG-88 created a counter virus allowing HIM to control it instead. Even R2 and 3PO were mind wiped. The droid Revolution under IG-88 destroys the First Order and Resistance both, and becomes the big threat of the galaxy. Kylo Ren turns back into Ben Solo when he had nothing left as Kylo Ren. So he would help Luke and the Jedi, the last hope for resistance against the droid empire. These droids also had the Ysilimari which severed the Jedi’s connection to the force. Due to this, Luke proposed they consult the Expertise of the Bounty Hunter who has worked with IG-88 and bested him before. They go to Mandalore, and rejoin with the survived Boba Fett, and ask for his help. That’d be dope I think.
