Best enjoyed through headphones or a quality sound system.
This is an original video made by the recording artist. You may hear these drones used in other videos, but these are the originals.
This is a professional recording of a live performance of Shruti Box drone. The drone is imbued with the spiritual intentions of the performer, which include prayers for well being, mantras for purification and protection, and prayers for happiness and freedom from suffering.
This recording contains no edits or overdubs. These live performances were professionally recorded between November 23-29, 2016 in Berkeley, California, culminating on the new moon, during the inward dark times approaching Winter in the Northern Hemisphere.
The Shruti Box is a beautiful, hand made, teak wood instrument. It is hand made in India by "Monoj Kumar Sardar & Bros, sons of Khagen Sardar" in Kolkata (Calcutta), India.
Many have asked where they can get this particular instrument. I have found it at the following links:
    • Musician's Mall - Formerly The Ali Akbar College Store (recommended resource!): www.musiciansm...
    • or at amazon: amzn.to/2IvviKh
This particular shruti box contains thirteen individual reeds set up chromatically to make one full octave, from low C to high C. The reeds are called "Palitana" and are used in high quality harmoniums. It is unusual to find this instrument with components of this quality. May your enjoyment of the music be increased accordingly.
This drone was made with the D and A notes open. This makes for the pleasing drone interval of a "fifth". This is the traditional interval used as a background for classical Indian music (instrumental and vocal), as it creates a mystical and wonderful sonic carpet for contemplative pursuits. After a short while, your mind will settle into the majesty of the tone as you begin to hear the subtle harmonics that gently dance about the steady notes of the drone.
These drones are also the perfect sonic backdrop for meditation or yoga. When you relax and let the soothing sounds wash over you, you will begin to hear all sorts of interesting micro-tones that shimmer and change throughout the recording. These "harmonics" are the gift to the listener who takes the time to explore and discover the intricate worlds waiting within the deceptively simple sounds of the drone.
And since our thoughts themselves at their most basic level are also made up of subtle vibrations, the potent prayers that the performer concentrated upon are imbued within the recording. The receptive listener will also receive the added benefit of the positive energetic vibrations interacting on a subtle level with the acoustics of the instrument.
One final note on the timing of the recordings. Why was 11 minutes, 11 seconds chosen for each track on the full-length recording? In some spiritual traditions, 11 minutes correlates to time of a cycle of concentration for the mind and nervous system. So 11:11 allows the mind to settle into relaxing concentration, as well as a bit of extra time for fading the sound in and out.
May this recording benefit all beings on our journeys towards peace, wholeness, and respect for all life.
    Blessings,

    And who am I
    Oh beloved god
And who am I when I go
    Who will find my soul
    Oh dear God, dear god
who am I when I go
And who will find my soul
    my soul...
    Oh god where are you
    and where am I
    when I'm full overboard
    Oh maybe i, im yours
    Maybe God you're mine
    Home
    Oh dear God
    Maybe you're my home.

is there a fifth between the octave?

    • @BringingSoundToLife
      @BringingSoundToLife  Před 5 lety

Obi-Wan Kenobi, thanks for listening! There are only enough reeds on this Shruti box to set it to a 5th. So, no octave in this key. Only the keys of C and F have both the 5th and the octave
