    I'm in New Zealand as well, lower north island area! And Seagulls are definitely annoying af! Every time I decide to take my drone out they come out from every direction and go for the drone! Makes it impossible to relax to try get some nice shots of whatever when you got them to worry about, in sport mode they cant catch my Mini 3 Pro, but if I'm always on the run from them cant exactly do any proper filming.

    Privately I own Mini 2 as well so I watch your vids carefully. But at work I fly Air 2 and most of the times I am followed by a bunch of swallows. They seem to be quite friendly as they simply circle around the drone, keeping some distance. At first I thought I'm interrupting their air space so I moved away good 100 m. Nope, they followed me. Now I just treat them as my wing mates. It's quite nice to see drone accompanied by swallows circling around. Still, I pay attention to my wing mates, move slowly so both parties may have pleasent flight experience.

    • @GetBusyLiving
      @GetBusyLiving  Před 3 lety +1

      Hey that's kind of cool that they hang out with you! Yes I agree, when ever I have birds around the drone, I am very careful to move slowly, I wouldn't want to move up when they are moving down and collide and hurt them!

    As soon as I saw your "scary" stickers I thought "Nope. If anything I'll bet it attracts them!" & it appeared I was correct. They're perceiving it as a potential threat & those eyes & that giant beak amplifies it. They really sounded alarmed when they saw it as I'm sure that whatever they thought it was before wasn't as threatening to them as this time. I'm surprised they didn't strike it. However, all flying things being equal (which they're not), the Mini 2 CAN do one thing better than almost any bird (with very few exceptions) & that is to fly straight up. While this can help to evade a level attack, it's a double edged sword as most birds will attack from above (they know their limitations too). Sorry if I don't offer better ideas but at least I understand the situation & what it can mean.

      We have Atico in Alicante which is 15 stories up. I can walk around the balcony and a pair of gulls will keep flying down at me and trying to bomb me with chemical warfare. So when I got a Mavic Air about 5 years ago, this pair which nested on the corrugated roof a few buildings away bought their mates. It does seem that one will be more upset that the rest, who just seem to fly around but don't bother coming close. They do loose interest. One thing I do know is they are not great parents. Just watch their two chicks scrambling over the uneven surface moving to try and find shade.

  • @randysmith6493
    @randysmith6493 Před 3 lety +3

    You are over a nesting site which is owned/protected by the birds. It is a normal response by seagulls to circle in the air during perceived threat . anyone who can fly gets up in the air with the flock. They can’t see your stickers from below, and those stickers will not make them more comfortable about their young on the ground. The birds in the air are there to harass the perceived threat away from their area. What works though, is don’t fly there.

      I am surprised also. I have live in Anchorage for 60+ years, and only this year the gulls started nesting along a couple of large rock outcrops along the highway now that guard rails are in place for a few years. it’s like they study the amount of human activity to see if an area is feasible . recently in CA someone flew over a small island with a drone and it crashed there, 1700 tern eggs in nest were then abandoned .

    I really don't like this video. Im a fellow drone pilot and I hope you dont take this the wrong way. I love flying my drone but I do it respectfully. Its very clear that the birds are threatned by your drone. They are aggitated. There could be many reasons. Maybe they have a nest nearby and just protecting their young, maybe its mating season and you are pissing them off. Either way, in my opinion, you need to be more respecful of them. If you get your drone up and get this outcome.......land the drone and move to another area. Its quite simple, you are in their house. Cheers and happy flying.

      @@GetBusyLiving it is mystifying you would need an explanation Then again your not in Canada where we have some of the most robust laws regarding drones, it is highly likely you have not seen our content ( which is fine ) we often feature wildlife that is under pressure from human activity hence our position on any flights near water fowl or nesting birds,we don't know your location but we do see there is water near you What you do or how you conduct your channel is your Biz Not ours you want Birds to bugger off or whatever is your affair and it may be good YT entertainment ...we see you got 4 thumbs down from some who may share our concern Not from us as the like/dislike system is silly Thanks again for the posts we found helpful Good Luck in you future endeavours.

      @@LANDSEAAIRCANADA All good mate, I understand where you're coming from now. Yeah we're the same with regard for wildlife, we have many species that are under threat and we take the preservation of those very seriously. The water is a little pond in the middle of a wide suburban area. If the birds were swallows, tui, fantails, keruru or any of a wide range of precious native species that were protected I'd be out of there like a shot don't worry about that mate 👍
