    Key Video Notes Below:
My biggest health anxiety recovery realization: I was stuck in the cycle of preventing the worst from happening no matter what aspect of my life it was (which eventually turned into looking to prevent disease through health anxiety). I gathered the health anxiety motivation I needed when I began to focus more on creating the kind of future experiences I wanted, rather than looking to prevent the worst from happening.
    - Most health anxiety sufferers would rather hold onto the state they’re already in rather than risk it for a different path that may lead to a worsening state.
    - Most health anxiety sufferers have become comfortable in fear, doubt, and low self esteem and have consciously and unconsciously connected it to who they are (identity).
    - Most health anxiety sufferers never wholeheartedly commit to healing because of what others may think of their new identity (being ostracized would equal death).
Question 1: Why do you obsess over your health?
Question 2: Why are you so afraid of X...
Question 3: What experience contributed to
    you becoming afraid of X?
    1. To stop obsessing over your health and creating health anxiety motivation you must become emotionally neutral toward the very thing you look to fight and run from.
    2. To stop obsessing you must see beyond yourself and this physical body.
    3. To stop obsessing over your health you must give yourself permission to learn from what habits don’t work. Bringing to your awareness what doesn’t work paves the way for the information that will work.
Key health anxiety motivation quote: Your body will hold onto the emotions and experiences until a time it feels like you can consciously take charge and resolve them.

Health anxiety is such a hard struggle. The cycle is 1. Uncomfortable feeling. 2. Catastrophic thoughts. 3. Physical symptoms of anxiety kick in and make it worse. 4. Feeling silly after you’ve calmed down somewhat. 5. Back to step 1. My goals are to stop having to take medications as well as being able to live my life!

All comes down to one thing. Fear of Death. Which is really a hard thing to let go but we health anxiety sufferers must program our subconscious mind to believe that we should not fear things that is not happening yet. focus on the present moment and try not to control things we can’t control. I’m not yet 100% anxiety free but I’m on the path to recovery and realized that anxiety is a friend that will strengthen our minds. Let’s all overcome this!

This is so true. I read a horoscope a couple weeks ago that said I could be more sensitive to chemicals and radiation. It probably seems ridiculous to other people, but for an anxiety sufferer like me, it was just enough to make me spiral. had to get a PET scan and I’m so afraid of having been exposed to that radiation that I feel like I have to check my body constantly for any sign of cancer that the radiation might have caused. It feels like I can’t relax or let it go because I’m scared that I’ll develop cancer and ignore the symptoms and let it get out of hand. I don’t like to talk to people about it because I know how ridiculous it is to believe a horoscope, but it’s been on my mind so much that it’s become absolute truth to me in my mind. Of course I don’t want to live this way, but the anxiety is almost like a blanket of protection that’s protecting me from the unknown. I’m so tired of feeling this way, I’m only 23 and I feel like I’m wasting my youth worrying about something that isn’t true. Sorry for the long comment, it just feels good venting to people who understand me. Happy Wednesday Warriors ❤️

When anxiety becomes entangled with your identity as a person, the answer it seems must be to re -invent yourself, let go of the past and almost start again as if you are a child who has had no bad experiences. We need to make new neural pathways in order to change the old way of thinking to a new, more positive way. I am in the process of doing this, and it is exhausting but will be worth it if i can become free of anxiety.

I am reading the book mind over mood in hopes itll help with my anxiety, specifically health anxiety and i feel like it isnt helping.. but i also feel like im resisting. Im tired of this and i know i could be so happy there are so many things to be grateful for in my life but everyday i wake up worried about what i am about to worry about regarding my health. Last week i was stuck on the fact that my doc said my iron is a bit high (despite the fact that he said everything else is beyond normal and the 'high' iron isn't high enough to even worry about), i would look up what that could mean and it would lead me to think he was wrong. This week its the fact that my rib cage hurts and my eye is twitching...and i swear everyone around me is so annoyed and thinks im crazy. I am grateful that i came across your channel truly, i feel so alone in this health anxiety journey so these comments and these videos really helped me tonight.

I thought I was losing the function of my hand. My herbalist scared the bejesus out of me when he said I had arthritis all along my thumb. I was so freaked out thinking I was going to have to give up my profession, my art career, the love of playing my piano.
Horrible thoughts stirred in my head constantly. Until I got xRayed. They said the cause of my hands limited range of motion was due to extremely tight tense muscles.
My life all of a sudden opened up. The sun shone again. I have no idea how I could’ve reacted any differently

Hi Dennis, thanks so much for your help. I had an allergy reaction that i had to be rush to emergency. After this i had panic attacks and anxiety came. I was battling with it for yrs but never had panic attacks till this time. I was suffering with health anxiety from way back. I over think and live with fear. After listening to your youtube. I analyze that my fear started since my cousin suddenly died. I would say i have a fear to death. What you say is all true. I have been listening to your you tubes and have help. Keep helping and may God keep showering you with knowledge. I want to heal and follow your advice.

I find myself at a point in my transition that I have overpacked my brain and have resources back to a few of my “what if’s”, I recognize it and know what I am doing it which I feel is a great thing, but not conquering total fulfillment of where I want to be. Like you said.... obsessing over the wrong goals and feeling will not have the internal justice to lead me to what I am longing for.... happiness, peace, fearless, strength, courageous, attentive, present in the moment..... I move forward everyday and every obstacle I make up in my head, is a challenge that I will come out of with a lesson that actually makes me stronger and have clarity of what I just provoked upon myself. I am more than anxiety and I will not keep anything but progress minded stats in my thought process on my journey to getting to where I deserve myself to be. Thank you sooooo much Dennis- you are awesome, I truly love you and forever grateful for what you have given me and have been changing my life one day at a time. I wish you could see from start to present - the transformation of your guidance and my strength, which has been a ride I never thought I would have come this far. You’re doing great things on this channel! Thanks much for doing what you do. My anxiety kicked in during my fathers death. I’m not afraid to die but afraid of going through the process of some fatal disease or medical condition as my father did. It haunts the heck out of me. I’m constantly thinking his condition is hereditary and I’m going to have the same problem he did. So much so that I have feelings that seem to be exactly what I think he would’ve had but I really don’t even know what sensations/symptoms he had. As soon as I get my mind busy with something other than that, my sensations go away. Actually, I was just having them and as I started typing this comment, they are gone and I feel fine. So crazy how much my mind screws with me over this. It is very frustrating and can ruin my life if I don’t figure this out and get over it somehow.

You are so so strong for reaching out and searching to find answers as to why you are doing this!!! You are going to conquer this and do amazing things!!!! I want you to say “ I am so proud of myself”!!! You have taken that first step of recognizing and now adjust your labeling you have given yourself from hypochondriac to a much bigger, better, positive and challenging word!!!! Keep following and listening to Dennis podcast and write in a journal to jump the hill and enjoy you. Your family will not let anything happen to you. What we think we feel and jump to catastrophic thinking, they see reality and the reality is you are ok. Please listen to as many of his podcast as you can. You are smart and I promise you, if you listen, you will begin to change your thought process that isn’t as scary as we have made up. It is real and it is ok. Today begins your new identity!! A bump in the road does not stop us from moving forward. I have done exactly what you have and I am 45 years old. No shame in my game...... I am proud of what I have learned along this journey and have added to my life. Sure, I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy, but I see how strong I am and how strong you are for knowing that you are more than a label. Keep moving forward!!☀️🌸❤️🎉

Since 8 I've had 1000s or cardiac events (in my mind) yet nothing really else...until a few weeks ago...when my Mom passed with Cancer...NOW I have the heart failure still and throat, neck, lymph node and oral cancer a good 15-20 times (again, in my mind..) Oh my God it is sooo hard difficult living like that. Every day seems like a struggle and we overanalyze everything we feel or the fears we have. I really hate it being like that but at the same time cannot feel ok let these sick habits go away. It is true that this is something like psychological addiction to suffering and over controlling everything. This is a vicious and snicky cycle for anybody to live in. We get used to this toxic thing and becomes a part of our identity. This is the key to recover to me. Try to break this connection to the bad habit of fear and over analysing everything happening mentally and physically trying to solve problems every minute of our days. We don't want to live in this low, poor state of living this is not our real self. We are way more than that but we just cannot see it clearly yet.
