Hi my name is Lilly and I am an American expat living on the island of Koh Samui in the gulf of Thailand for the last 9 years. My husband is Thai and his name is Wat. Hi Lilly, I'm a Thai guy living in rural Germany, the former Communist parts, with German wife. I am just opening a Thai fusion restaurant too here! It's daunting. We lived in Thailand for 10 years before moving here 4 years ago. We had plans, made investments, then covid hit. Like you I guess, new plans. Love your video and your energy, inspiring for me. It's funny of the stuff you roll your eyes about in Thailand is literally the opposite in Deutschland. Here the bureaucracy is truly murder, you won't believe. I didn't believe until experiencing it for myself. Almost cried many times. Not SME friendly at all. I have no staff (can't afford, rules too rigid), one man show with the wife minding the counter. I wish you and your husband Khun Wat the best. I miss Thailand and the colorful chaos and silliness of my homeland. If I ever visit Samui in the future, I'd drop by your restaurant, have a meal and hopefully shake you hand. I used to visit Samui every month for like 3 years for work about 15 years ago so I knew the place well. I'll subscribe to watch your journey and cheer you along your progress and success. I'm a fan already! Sincere wishes.

I love the way people dress in Asia. There is not such a fashion frenzy as in the West. I worked in Taiwan for 8 years and it was such a sense of relief to dress down all the time. Clothes don't matter that much. Other things are more important, such as smiling, being kind, helping others,sharing what you have with others.

Actually depending where you go or who, sometimes I feel like Asians are focusing too much on "looking good" than actually feeling comfortable. But, then again that's all depending on where or who I guess. You're not entirely wrong or right on fashion.
Really? I feel it's the opposite 😅. I'm going to Thailand in a week (where I'm from) and am shopping for new clothes so I don't look so sloppy. Last trip people thought I was my daughter's babysitter 😅Their fashion is ahead of us here and everyone has new nose, new eyelids, new lips, new eyebrows. I feel pressure to at least dress well. 😅
@@voilet009 🤣 That's how I felt, when I visited Thailand and Laos. They were actually straight up rude to me because I wore cut up Jean short and tshirt. I got the "Is this how you dressed in the US?" They thought I was fat. Kept touching my arms, I'm 5'2" 115lbs. I don't think this is a regional issue, it's global. It really is depending on who.
Congratulations to you and your family on reopening your restaurant. Your togetherness and imclusivity as a family/extended family is awesome. Your and your parents are together during special and regular occasions always despite living on different continent never daunted by Covid, etc. and such positive energy from Gigi. You are so fortunate to have this kind of relationship with extended family (including parents, your sister, Nam, and now her son), providing invaluable lessons on relationships and of course tradition for your own children and others to emulate as they grow. Watt looks much happier now and perhaps it will be more fulfilling for him managing the family restaurant while you co-manage from a distance and focus on vlogs giving us a glimpse once in a while of your restaurant team at work as the business thrives. I always enjoy your content. It's such a pleasure watching the children grow and their personalities blossom, to see your business thrive, etc. Watching Nam and her son reconnect is so beautiful as well. I also love the content about your clothing business. I couldn't figure out at first why I was so drawn to it but then it occurred to me... it's the name. My Grandmother's middle name was Grace and my Mother's middle name is Joy. The are/were the most amazingly kind and loving people so of course the name of your brand feels extra special to me!

I never thought he was lazy. He helps out with the kids more then the average man. He couldn’t really work because they are always traveling around, now everything is stable he can contribute more financially to the family.

For the falafel you can also use an ice cream scooper to make the round shape I'm Armenian 🇦🇲🇦🇲 some we make hummus, falafel, tabouli,🥙🧆 shish-kabob all kinds of Middle Eastern foods nest of luck to you and your family

The food looks delicious. We recently returned from a holiday in Thailand and I love Thai food but I needed a break from all the spicy food. Your Mediterranean menu looks so tasty. I would have certainly liked the hummus and pitta and salad etc to have a break from spicy food. It looks so healthy too. Much success to you all in your new venture

when things calm down, you should set up a Grace & Joy corner so visitors can buy your products & local souvenirs. actually, the upstairs can be turned into a boutique/lounge area (Lilly's Clubhouse). would be lovely.
I was thinking the same thing a few weeks already when Lilly, her mother and sister went fabrics shopping for their clothing line. There where a lot of comments asking if they shipped to Australia, Europe and even other countries in South East Asia. It's a business opportunity that occur and can become successful now, since she had sold cloths already in the past in the same building. A Grace & Joy shop for customers on the other part of the world, where they can expand their brand name. She can ad beach clothing to the line of her shop, because it's close to the beaches in Koh Samui and she will get many tourist visiting her restaurant.
Lilly has an entrepreneurial spirit and another opportunity what she can try is a tourist guide & advice website/office, where tourist can visit her website for best restaurants, hotels or hotels on a budget, beaches, places to visit/go in Koh Samui and even provide a guide when it's needed. If it becomes successful she can expand it to other places outside of Koh Samui.

Right!? Greek salad, or really anything with feta, is the way to my heart. That salad looked absolutely divine! Every ingredient looked so vibrant, luscious and fresh. So mouthwatering! The only problem with it is that I can’t taste a bite of it through the screen!
