- It took so long to find a decent game, and then it didn't turn out to be the best! There were a couple of nice moments and I was pretty excited to actually make a commentary video and check out the new spectator stuff in AoE2:DE!

Great upload Zero. I hope you do more of these types of videos. IMO you are the most engaging and professional commentator for AOE2. No disrespect to commentators like T90 but I think your deep knowledge of the game and not having to respond to Twitch chat elevate you far above others. Hope to see more videos like this. Cheers!

About the Microsoft Store/Xbox logo: crossplay has actually been broken during much of the early period past release. So people don't need to turn it off, there actually are issues that have been preventing Microsoft Store owners from playing with Steam owners.
Zero, PLEASE continue these. I really miss your commentary videos. I know it takes a lot of time and effort, but keep the content coming.

@@HaleStormStrong I respect your opinion but I do not agree whatsoever. Pussywood is da shit, it makes it look more clean and it makes it much easier to see what happens at the wood lines. No competitive player will ever not like pussywood.

I’m a games pass player, because I had it anyway... the devs turned cross play off on their end due to some sync issues, so you are probably right he isn’t playing steam players but not by choice

not too familiar with this game or rts in general so can someone explain why the guy decided that it was meaningless to continue and gave up? Was it because the scouts and spearmen were enough to take care of the villagers with cloud having no units to protect them? As in, while hera's stopping the villagers from gathering resources (meaning cloud won't be able to make any units to protect himself), he would've generated more forces in the long run and wiped out cloud?

So yeah, generally speaking, at the expert level, especially in a friendly (albeit ranked) games, often it's pretty clear when it's over. At this level, there's only so much damage you can take before it's already over, especially in this early stage of the game.
Doesn't mean epic comebacks never happen, especially in tournaments with money and pride on the line, but in this specific game, as ZeroEmpires alluded to, Hera's lead would just snowball, Hera would be able to take out more vils, increase his army size/comp/upgrades, get on to the next age before Cloud, etc. etc.
I agree with Aurelius, you just get to a point where you may aswell concede and not waste time, but there are definitely times when you can make amazing comeback plays too, this just wasn't one of them.

Hera had an Eco lead along with military lead and could effectively keep Cloud off of his gold and wood. Gold is required to progress to castle age and create stronger military units and Cloud would need the wood to reseed the farms/create buildings.
It's pretty simple. Cloud went for a strategy of early aggression, hoping to end the game early or at least cripple Hera enough that he would always be on the defensive for the rest of the game. Unfortunately for him, he spread himself too thin. He used villagers aggressively to construct forward military buildings instead of use them to gather resources and develop his economy. It might of worked if Hera never counter attacked. But, because he never really developed much of an economy, and his military buildings were far away, he wouldn't be able to adequately respond to an attack. This is why early aggression is risky.
How is spectating/casting on DE? Haven't tried yet, but think I'd like to

Hope the AOC Gods convince Steam/Microsoft to allow Voobly access to he DE release. Steam is just a convoluted mess to navigate and the lobby system is just pants. What does it matter where the game is played as long as it it payed for.
It's better to pray your gods for better lobby system in de/steam itself rather than wishing for 3rd party clients since it means more support for tournaments from MS, more DLCs!!, more patches/fixes/balance changes, etc.
I'm not sure how simple voobly is since I've never been on it, but on steam you just need to buy/install the game, click play then go to multiplayer and voila you can play ranked or lobby so I'm not sure what you mean by convoluted exactly.
Multiplayer is server based now not peer to peer, so I dont think that voobly has the framework to support it.

TO be fair the audio was kinda bad this video :( I didn't realise it was so loud because AoE2:DE was turned down in my mixer a bit

It was perfect! For once I could actually hear the game and not just the commentator. The game sound never took over so you couldn't hear what ZE was saying, but you could also clearly hear the game. I don't get why a lot of streamers for a lot of games want the game audio to be pretty much inaudible...
100% that themystaa is trying to fix his scores with playing windows store only players how much of a low life do you have to be to try and cheat like that in a rts ffs haha
