The significance is not that he always has his hands down. He tends to drop his hands to get off angles on punches but generally does a good job with head movement and getting out of range. What the video showed was exactly when he was going to drop them, because he was so worried of the calf kick. It’s not just about knowing what opening will present itself, it’s knowing how to capitalize and execute on it.
Yea the difference is he was staying still and flat with his hands down to try and anticipate the leg kick usually he's ducking and cutting angles so it's hard to line up the headkick but he left it on a silver platter for alex

@@cwatson42785ya, both hands down all the time in front of alex..he got away with it with rakic, he was throwing caution to the wind moving forward with rakic, that wild unpredictable style just doesnt hold up with a monster like pereira. I hope jiri recovers well, he's taken a lot of damage, the rakic fight also he got hit a lot & now specially those heavy leg kicks, the left hook & the high kick. Such a brutal sport.
Jiri said he needs to evolve but what he really needs is a defensive sensibility that'll fit into his fighting style. His eastern combat arts inspired offensive style could do well if he'll learn defensive tactics frm those same martial arts.. it'll require him to develop more snap dexterity in his footwork and some tweaking on his stance than he currently have though.
He is pure offense. Maybe if he takes a break to heal up and works on defense, then he can use the old ajoro offense in spurts and then me more composed defensively in the mean time.
That would still be considered "evolving," lol. He also needs to learn to feint and counter more, instead of thinking he can walk through anything to land his shots.
No one can or should be fighting Alex especially with their hands down....period

Or someone with quick relaxes and good head movement like them. You might be able to get away with it until father time taps you on the shoulder. But if not it will catch up to you when you face elite competition.

Well, if you always keep your hands high, how can you protect against low body shots? I don't think it was the issue there. You can avoid head kicks though by either dodging or moving backward or use high elbow guard...Jiri simply doesn't have the standup skills Alex has to compete...

Here comes the guys who doesn't know anything about fight. Yes Jiri keeps his hands down and everybody knows that before, but keeping his hands down he can move quickly behind when a strike comes. What Alex and his team noticed was Jiri keeps his hands down while lifting his lead leg while checking the calf kick, in that case when the opponent throws a hook or kick you cannot move back quickly.
