I used to listen to CBL when I was a kid living in Washington,Pa.,and 740's signal was strong enough. Listening to this version of O Canada reminds me of shows like Mostly Music,Booktime and of course, the Ontario Eye Opener (which was heard on other CBC stations in Ontario). Now that it is CHWO/AM740,I still listen to it,but only during late nights, and AM740's easy listening hits makes me sleep better and I enjoy a great new day later on!
I remember this rendition of their national anthem being used by CBW 990AM Winnipeg in the late 80s through early 90s. I encountered CBW by sheer accident as a kid growing up in western Kansas. First time I heard a foreign national anthem. :) I liked listening to their daily evening classical music program from 10:00 PM through 1:00 AM. I usually could pick up 990 AM from around 9:00/10:00PM. Oftentimes, I had trouble picking it up due to 980 AM being a clear channel frequency here in the States (closest one to me was 980 out of Oklahoma City).
Thanks 4 sharing. I remember hearing this on the radio in the 1990's, and by then it was a lady making the announcement of CBL starting it's broadcast day.
@dianablanton1984 The 740 (once CBL, now CFZM) signal has the largest AM signal footprint in Canada and the third or fourth largest in North America (behind WNAX Yankton, South Dakota; WFAN New York; and possibly WCBS, also in New York).
The calls of AM 740 are actually now CFZM - the station was just sold (ZM comes from Moses Znaimer, the new owner, who also owns a classical FM station in Toronto). However the format will not be changing, thank goodness. I enjoy AM 740's Adult Standards music a great deal myself and I'm 28!
Superbook4Eva Znaimer used to run CityTV (there is a great CityTV sign off that he's in. Wonder, though, if CBC is unloading some radi o stations--and why?
i could reach canadian TV and radio stations with the vast majority of them being in london. canadian broadcasting has better programming than the united states and i live in cleveland, ohio. my favorite is the red green show. i wish i would move up there the way the air quality is like in fact i will as soon as i am done with college.

Nice arrangement of the anthem they used. And your video makes me nostalgic for Toronto -- it's been three years now....
Now I can see where yall are!😎😊
I agree! Thank you for your eloquent comment that reflects my same thoughts.
